Stop me from hurting myself! (launch hype)

Play Dragon Quest VIII, it is awesome. You don't have to spend any money on it either, Bebpo = WINNAR.

Well, I have been. About 15 hours in at the moment. It is indeed awesome. Besides, it's two hours later now, even if I cannot quench my thirst for tasty new hardware, there probably aren't any left at this point.

At UF, eh? I was down by Butler Plaza earlier this evening to go eat with some friends. Saw a few lining up at Rhino Games.

If you buy the 360, you can give it to me and I'll keep it warm for you until X-Mas. :D

Hype was very close to getting me too, but I resisted. I keep reciting the mantra I had for every system launch I've ever been apart of, in which I came home, had a 48 hour buzz, and a 3 month crash wherein I realized the system sucks and it's gonna take a year for it not to.

This is a fantastic quote, and describes nearly all of my launch console purchases.

But I'm still buying a 360 at launch, and I'll tell you why.

You get the buzz, and thats a really enjoyable part of gaming - the next gen rush. Sure, the price may come down later, but if you think you'll buy one eventually, why not buy it at launch? The only difference is potentially the price now Vs the price when you buy it - maybe $50? $50 is worth it IMO

Yes, you get a post-launch downer, with not much stuff out. But thats when you catch up with your current gen stuff.

Yep, seems there are actually a few more Gainsvillians on the forums than I thought. I think we're up to maybe 4 or 5 now?

Well for me the price difference would be 100, because I want to get 360 when the premium pack is $299. And honestly, because I can't sell my Xbox, it makes all the difference.

But money is only the primary factor, I've pretty much swore off launches. I wanna see the lay of the land a bit more, see the cards PS3 and Rev holds.

There just aren't the games available currently that justify purchasing this console now. I've done the launch purchases before, and I always feel underwhelmed in the end.
