Street Fighter Set for PSP
Capcom promises update to Alpha series.
by Anoop Gantayat

August 31, 2005 - Capcom will be giving PSP owners a much needed dose of Street Fighter, according to reports out of Japan. The company intends on releasing Street Fighter Alpha 3: Double Upper for the system, with a release date currently undecided. The game will presumably be based off the Street Fighter Alpha 3: Upper arcade game.

We expect to have more details shortly, so stay tuned to IGNPSP.

I hope it's not too much better than the first Alpha 3.

If it were, I'd much rather have it released on a home console than a portable.

Either way, this is gonna be one sweet game for the PSP.

Old. And I am also sold...The inclusion of SFZ2 system/backgrounds would be a nice addition. Make it happen Capcom.

Article must have been updated, there are details in it now:

The latest issue of Famitsu is home to first details on Capcom's PSP version of Street Fighter Zero 3 (Alpha 3 in America). Fully titled Street Fighter Zero 3: Double Upper, the game promises a number of improvements over the original arcade Zero 3 release. Players will be able to use Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Jam and fight battles over Wireless LAN. As with Darkstalkers, the game will appear on the PSP screen in widescreen mode.

Capcom has yet to announce a release date for Zero 3, but we expect to see something from the title at the Tokyo Game Show. Stay tuned to IGN for more in just a bit.

not as much fun with 4 face buttons. my .02.

The PSP has 6 buttons, 4 face and 2 shoulders, just like the dreamcast and similar to the dualshock 1&2, and I don't see anybody complaining about playing Third Strike in those 2 consoles.

Unless of course you're a strict arcade joystick user.

Thats cuz no one seriously played those games on those systems without a 3rd party controller.

Stop comparing a portable system to a console maybe?

This will be the best portable incarnation of Street Fighter ever. That's good enough for me :)

What alternative do we have? SFA3U for GBA? SF2:CE for Lynx?

I use the saturn PS2 pad that came out in March with a converter for my DC. I don't like to use the shoulders in a 6 button fighter and the DC D-pad just sucks IMO. I've seen quite a bit of complaints re: the DC and to a lesser extent, the PS2 pads for 2d fighters.

Ingrid? Oh joy. Meanwhile, watch us NOT getting Eagle, Maki and Yun, even though they were included for free in the GBA version.

If we DO get all four though, it's a fairly nice port content-wise.

Eagle, Yun, and Maki were confirmed at E3 iirc.

They should bring back more SF1 folks... like Geki!!!

Dude, if you don't want another Street Fighter because it's a handheld there is always the consoles version. The portability of Street Fighter anywhere anytime is just too sweet, now adding in infrastructure mode would just be killer.

How many f^$%*%$ times does Capcom need to release a version of SFA3?!

Dammnit, a portable version of 3rd Strike would've been a system seller for me. Damnit.

Don't get too excited y'all. I think we're all forgetting that the PSP D-pad is pretty much broken for 2D Fighters.
