Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: Free update arcade mode & more; $40 game+DLC bundle

Japanese voice?

so who is abel than?

This guy. He was a newcomer for SFIV. He was in the story mode for SFV but he's not playable.

We're all gonna pretend there isn't a really vocal defense force?
it's only the two guys.

i always said "fuck arcade mode who gives a shit"

but now that they're implementing this really intricate arcade mode into the game...

FOOK ARCADE MODE WHO GIVES A SHIT

For the first time, I'm genuinely considering buying into SFV (either now or in January). Well played, Capcom.

I just wish they'd put anything like this much effort into Marvel vs Capcom Infinite...

Just wait, MvCI may only have 4 female characters but that doesn't mean they won't get all the revealing DLC costumes. The ladies are going to fund UMvCI, one horny whale at a time.

lol guile is just randomly there on the keyart. The rest make sense but him not so much. Should have put in an alpha rep or just ken

Not a fan of Udon slowly taking over the official art of SF games over Capcom Japan's artists (yes, even Rushed Bengus, though I strongly prefer Akiman and Ikeno), including what seems to be the new (overly safe in terms of character choices...) box/key art and arcade endings. I've never really liked their art style(s), in part because I can't shake the feeling it is more like inauthentic fan art in a way. (SFIII Online Edition imo lost its cool aesthetic consistency because of Udon's new menu and character select art so I never took to this version either...hopefully SFV will not have the same problem art wise...)

That said, this AE version itself sounds great in terms of content added, even if the UI changes seem minimal and not for the better at first glance in terms of the aesthetics. Hopefully there will be plenty of new stuff to buy using FM going forward as well as those single player modes finally will give me the incentive to fire up the game more in order to (I hope) earn more FM.

Speaking purely from the perspective of someone who needs the FM carrot on a stick to keep playing, the free update doesn't imo need to include any of the DLC stages as those are actually my biggest reasons for earning FM and playing the game at this point beyond the characters added. The CPT exclusive stages that required money possibly becoming regular ones in the paid update like the new screens seem to suggest kinda rubs me the wrong way too even though it is better for preservation's sake to make them more readily available I guess.

And yeah, Sagat is pretty much guaranteed at this point. Unless they plan on adding more applicable characters to each arcade mode path (like Sagat as boss in SF1 and 2) when they become available later as DLC, which they definitely should as to avoid vanilla SFV's imo big problem of its modes feeling outdated and like they were stuck in time because no new characters or stages ever showed up in them.

Arcade mode is nice and all but unless they overhaul the whole crush counter mechanic and give characters real defensive options, it won't matter much in the end.

It's funny how the "SFV is perfect", "shut up about Arcade mode already" crowd are now like "wow, the Arcade Mode HYPEEEE!"
Idk if anyone said it was perfect but there were clearly people shitting on Arcade Mode and an improved Arcade Mode ala what we have now. Many people brought up suggestions on how it could be and yet they were shunned. It was to a point where dudes tried to use Survival as a replacement lol. Either was by now we know who the diehard defenders are and we knows the ones who were shitting on it. I don't even have to say anything to them.

I just gotta give thanks to Capcom though for doing what we said they should do. Our complaints came in handy regardless if others thought they weren't important.

I mean, if the defense force is on GAF then it would be the SFV OT. And we constantly shit on the game there.

The difference between when Gaming side shits on SFV and when the OT shits on SFV is we actually know what we're talking about because we (mostly) still play the game.

Dudes really love patting themselves on the back for some shit that the devs probably came up with themselves.

I'm not into Arcade modes myself, the real meat and excitement of all this to me is the brand new menu, UI and most importantly V-Triggers.

Like... how you top my favorite Dictator trigger, super curious!

Arcade ladders themed after numbered SF releases sound really cool, even if a bunch of SF2 reps will have to be reused in each ladder to make it work. If nothing else it would mean Alpha Chun costume is definitely going to be a thing. They could even get Gill working for the SFIII ladder by using his story mode model and a modified Urien move set.

Too bad there aren't enough SF1 reps for its own ladder.

So who's Axel than?

Edit: okay I'm all caught up.
Jeesh these names :(

Edit 2

I thought Abigael was Able
Abel = Axel
Axel= Abel
Vega is Bison
Balrog= Vega
Only the last two are localization differences. Most people refer to M.Bison as Dictator and Balrog as Boxer to remove any confusions.

Ryu
Ken
Birdie
Balrog with Mike skin
Sagat

it's doable.

I didn't give a damn about arcade mode, I still don't give a damn about arcade mode, and the only thing that excites me about its addition is that maybe all the whiners will finally shut up about it.

V-Trigger 2s could be cool, but I was kind of hoping for some more BOLD additions in the way of universal mechanics. Always thought the number of choices players could have to utilize these universal techniques (depending on resources whether Ex or V) could be expanded on BIG time to make things a lot more interesting.

Goddamn, I really need to buy a PS4. The SFV collector's edition is currently staring back at me from across the living room on a shelf, unplayed. And here is a new edition that I'll have to double-dip on, despite still having not played the game. Sigh...maybe for Christmas I'll buy myself one finally, put it off long enough.

Bummer that there are no costumes included.

Woot, I can finally buy the game! I love Street Fighter games, but I don’t play them multiplayer much at all, and SFV’s single-player content has been quite poor. I know Capcom didn’t really want to spend time making single-player content, but with the game’s lackluster sales I would have thought they would have done so sooner than 2 years after release.

And looks like they put some good effort into making a unique arcade mode too, looking forward to trying SFV!

This kind of post has always been just as destructive to conversation as obnoxious drive-by posts.

I have the vanilla version but I’ll probably buy this version since buying the DLC characters separately will cost more anyway.
