I think all the people in this thread saying Street Fighter V isn't going to last to because it's too simplistic and tailored for casuals must not have been around in 2008 when people first played Street Fighter IV. They said the exact same things and numerous pro players called the game garbage and said they were going to go back to CvS2/3S/MvC2.

you'll have to excuse max. he's an 09er who jumped into the fgc for the cpm money

Yeah, Street Fighter fans need to stop pretending they won't stay current. There's a reason SF players are represented by the "cool kids" in the FGC player image meme.

one thing i noticed about sfv training mode is that it doesnt have a reset button ala arcys game training modes. maybe im wrong? i think thats a must for training modes nowadays.

No reset button yeah, you have to pause and manually reset. :/

GeoNeo

I disagree.

The amount of shit talking SFIV got from SRK, GGPO Chat, and other FGC related threads or forums was huge.

Just like last time though the people that don't adapt or accept will be left behind while a new era of players grow up to love SFV.

Funny thing is marvel 3 had it, so somebody at the company knows it's a thing.

I noticed that during the stress test the other day that you can now turn the game music all the way down now! I'm glad they implemented that, will be great when the music gets old and you just want to pump some hip hop over games.

This is the type of shit I hope to see in more SFV matches as people get a hold of the systems.

That mika player was sick, but he fucked up his execution and paid for it. Those clutch victories where you can tell a person really knows their character and how to play against others is what people should evolve to.

And steamrolling people isn't hard right now. I'm ass at fighters but I was able to take matches because people play this game like SF4 still.

Lol. Was gooey alright??! Lmmmaaoo

Can someone post the beta times tomorrow in EST?

12/18 - 03:01 US-EST – SFV 3rd beta starts for PS4 and PC users
12/18 - 11:00 US-EST – Servers down for 10 hour maintenance
12/18 - 21:00 US-EST – Servers back online, play resumes
12/19 - 21:00 US-EST – Servers down for 10 hour maintenance
12/20 - 07:00 US-EST – Servers back online, play resumes
12/21 - 01:00 US-EST – SFV 3rd beta concludes

What's everyone's approach to picking what characters you'll play in the full game?

Obviously, just picking a character you like is the first thing we'll do. My thought though, is that over the life of SF:IV it seemed like it was in player's best interest to have a few characters they were good with. Matchups are huge.

So I want to play Mika and Chun-li, but if I stick with this game (and honestly it's a big "if") I'm not sure those two would necessarily cover each other's weaknesses and mitigate the other bad matchups. So does anyone go about picking characters by choosing chracyers with like opposite strenghts and weaknesses so you are equipped to counter zoners, and rushdown and stuff? Or do you just sink time into whoever you think is cool regardless on how thier weaknesses overlap.

So no lobbies in the last beta either? That's disappointing, was hoping you could play with friends, but you'd think they'd wanna test their lobby system as well, transferring hosts etc. Also, got a message about not forgetting to give my friend a code for the lat beta, but where do I get said extra code?

I will sink time into whoever is cool. My main will be Chun Li, but I am also looking forward to train Mika, Rashid and Karin. Once the DLC is out, I'm back to my Juri.

I just pick who I click with. I try a bunch of players and sometimes one just clicks and fits the way you think/play. Then I'll experiment.

Best to pick one character you gel with and figure out what bad matchups you have with that character before settling on a backup. Character matchups are a big part of the game but how well you cope with a bad matchup is important too.

There's no reset button (I don't think), but there's a reset option in the menu. So, instead of pressing one button, you press two quick buttons (start, then X). Not ideal, but not bad.

There is actually a button(R3 or L3), but you have to activate them manually in the training menu. I think it is under shortcut settings or something.

Pretty sure this shit will be popping off before the actual start times if it's anything like the last beta tests.

I just pick characters mainly who I like and try to go from there.

If the last time I participated in the beta was the mini-test with Laura a couple weeks ago, will I have to redownload the beta in order to play tomorrow? Figured I'd ask now instead of having to find this out tomorrow.

Pro tips : Chun li is always a very good debt in sf. Stick with her and you'll end up being very hard to beat, chun's good by design.

Top tier in 2x, best character in third strike, most balanced character of sfiv.

Plus, as the time goes, great players who stick with their character for years are always at advantage. Look at the pro, daigo with ryu/eryu bonchan with sagat, kazunoko with yun, snake eyes with zangief, pr with balrog... Damn luffy with rose wrecks. Guys who mained chun li since the beginning are often very, very though to beat, look at valmaster, all he does is barely punish people or frame trap and he's tier 1 player.

How many hours left? I took sleeping pills this afternoon to wake up for the beta but only managed to sleep 4 hours.

Is there a countdown clock somewhere?

My (usually wrong) time conversion puts it at 4.5hrs away.

FOR THOSE EXPERIENCING CRASHES ON THE PC VERSION OF STREET FIGHTER V USING WINDOWS 10 and 8

***Right Click the windows icon
***Click run
***type in "services.msc"
***disable Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service

You might want to go to right click on it, go to properties and set it to manual startup.

This should help alleviate alot of the PS4 players thingking that PC players are rage quitting when they are not. Also this was brought to my attention by Shifty. who offered this as a work around for DARIUSBURST which has the same issue as SFV.

You're welcome

I'm drunk.

I feel part of this should be posted in the OT...

Soooo I've got an i5, 2gb 670, 8gig ram. Will I be able to get decent performance here? I've got a PC and PS4, but my SF4 TE stick was for 360 so obviously PC is the way to go for me!

I think you'll be just fine. I have i5 3570k, 980ti, and 8gb ram and it runs great for me. I was running a 670 for the first PC round and it ran fine as well.

Sorry for the dumb question.

But whenever i try to start the PC version, it says not responding, and doesn't load. Is that because the beta isn't up for PC peeps, or is there something wrong with it. ?

Verify the integrity of the game cache? I think it's on your end, since the beta is apparently up.

No, you may need to downlod some updates though if your pc/ps4 didn't automatically.
