This game seriously needs to allow us to pick different preferred characters for ranked and casual. I wanna play fang on ranked and Bison on casual.

You unlock it for purchase (with FM) by playing the story-mode, but you can't actually buy it before the store goes online in March.
Will be able to purchase them next month with right money once the store opens.
The story outfits that you cleared are available to buy with fight money in march.

Ah, that's a bummer. I'll have to wait until then. Thanks!

Just wanted to say this OT has been as much fun as the game on its own. Learning a lot in this really friendly welcoming environment. Been a great OT, Best I've been a part of since joining gaf.

Bison is damn fun in this game. Once he gets momentum he's like a train that can't be stopped. If anyone has combos or tips to share. I'd like to expand my knowledge on him.

Game is so amazing. Getting matches non stop, all great. Hot Chun C5 is soo good. Relearning Chun, godlike normals.

Is that the blue one? The blue one is so damn good.

ahh this makes me so pissed. lost at Bison twice in Survival and all i want is the god damned blue alt costume!

ayyy! glad to hear it. feel free to add me on CFN if you wanna get some games in: jonbones

Ugh how are you supposed to block bisons jumping knee if you can't tell which can side it's hitting you on. Keep getting blown up by ambiguous cross uplike this lol

My scrub dhalsim doesn't know what to do with the constant pressure.
You're using SIM? The second Bison leaves the ground , slide . His jump is very high and floaty . You will be able to get under most if not all of his jumping attacks once done with in a certain range .

But you do know there is a variation with a follow-up that combos, versus not doing the follow-up but instead the command grab, right?

The animations are different. The one without a follow up has her elbowing your mid (-2 on block), the one that goes into a throw (unsafe on block) looks like she's elbowing your face.

Just hit 1000lp after struggling initially with new Ken. Things slowly coming together now

Has anyone figured out where to find your win/loss ratio yet?

Why does everything feels soooooooooooo slow, doing anything through menus feels like a chore

And i'm playing on PC, praying for a patch to reduce loading times at some point :(

Yeah, I've not seen any netcode issues yet. Just got my connection set to 4-5 connections only mind you. Weed out the crap a little.

I agree with this except for the netcode and slowdowns (since i'm on pc, don't have any ps4 experience with the game). Lack of polish and features everywhere. The game feels very very rushed.

Yea. I'm on PS4. Menus are really slow for me and loading in and out practice to online and back takes a while.

Oh, that's interesting, never bothered to check if the initial hit was different whether or not you inputted the follow-up! I foolishly thought the elbow had the same properties with or without the follow-up.
Will definitively give this a check in training mode tonight, thanks. :)

This game is seriously messing up my sleep schedule.
This game is messing up my sleep schedule, which is messing up my game... '__'

Maybe my perception is off but I don't find the loading times to be very long, in fact I find matches very fast and the loading seems completely normal.

The menus though I don't like, I think they are confusing as shit.

Oh and the biggest problem I'm seeing is not being able to choose the character in ranked, what the fuck is up with that? Why can't I choose the character and I have to preemptively change it in the settings?

Helps make things advance faster. That way, when you are matched with someone, you go straight to the match loading screen, instead of having to deal with the stage and character select screens, with each their own timer. Without that, people would bitch even more that it takes so long between matches. :)

I agree with your other points, though.

The reset is all part of her mix-up game, she's slightly positive on the elbow charge on hit (probably something like +2, I think? I'll have to check that though ^^), so it's a guessing game as to what she will do after that. If the goes for the command grab, you can totally escape it by jumping or back-dashing or even with a fast enough normal. But if she minds you will try to escape, she can hit you out of those by not going for the command grab but throwing out a LK or MK instead.

Thanks for the tech for my Laura. I had never thought to think that she was + on hit for some reason. Gonna go back now and try her again. See if I can ruin somebody's day.

Same here man, think I have only had one laggy game... but really it was just a huge spike that lasted for like 4 seconds. Though I can't play one of my U.S. buds, he had like two bars and it was a jitter fest.

Very very happy with the netcode all in all.

Has anyone here beaten HELL survival mode? I want to know if the title you get is character specific? Also fuck how do I beat this mode in HELL difficulty easily with R. Mika? I thought maybe spamming her body splash would work but eventually the CPU catches on in later levels.

Apparently spamming Ken medium SRK works, especially if push em ito a corner. Like, nonstop SRK after SRK, no pausing between them.

How fun.

Next day of my "character world tour" (where I train my execution by running through the movelist with a new character every day).

Yesterday I started with Nash, but since I already put a lot of time in with him, I decided to go to Gief. Before that, though, I can definitely see my execution getting better with the stick. See, I got a new stick, and it's been a while since I've used one, and for me, it's really hard to get back into the groove of things because I'm already ass. I took three games in a row from people, including one where the guy was ranked much higher than me.

My execution still needs work overall, and I still need to keep getting stopped up on simple shit all the time, but I can feel myself getting better step by step.

Anyway, back to Gief. I can tell he's not my type of guy, but I had fun with him. Popping a SPD as soon as you land never gets old, and taking people to the skies is satisfying. I'm sure if my execution was better I'd actually use his vtrigger better, but his vskill has saved me quite a bit.

One thing that's getting pounded into my being is that there are many different ways to approach these characters. I've met a Gief who'd bait me with normals and then shock me with a throw when he felt safe enough to set one up. I met another who's entire gameplan was based on aggressive play and using that vskill far more often, and then another who was just waiting for me to fuck up and would go into insane combos.

Next up is chun li.

It never bothered me in IV, though :/

question, is there anything that breaks guard? Besides grabbing?
I was playing against a turtle Rachid and I couldn't figure anything to do against him just staying in crouched guard ( I play Ken)

Certain attacks can hit low or overhead. If someone's blocking low, an overhead will break their guard.

Hmm so I bought a used 360 SFIV SE stick and can't seem to get it to work with the game on PC. The buttons seem to register but the stick itself isn't working at all and it won't let me map any of the buttons properly. I don't have any other games to try the stick out on so I don't know it's an issue with the stick itself or the game...

I don't remember what Ken's overhead is, but usually overheads allow you to break up crouch guarders.

You can go for cross ups which is jumping forward to their other side and using a move like m.k while in the air and on the other side so they have to start blocking in the other direction.

Grabbing is of course the easiest one.

If they're purely crouching then use overheads and mix things up.

Sometimes just doing a medium normal then neutral jumping can often throw people off.

You can also use tick throws. If you don't know what tick throws are, watch this video.

Also, don't underestimate the value of chip damage.

ken's Inazuma Kick hits overhead in pretty much all SF games (<-- + mk)

There's a control panel on it that'll allow you to switch the stick setting to d-pad, left analog, right analog. Switch it to d-pad.
