Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

I know what to do with a charged HK from Mika but what options do I have if they block? I do a special grab or back dash and footsies again?

Also is there any use for -> + FP/HP? I know that launch but I cant seem to combo it so I can only use it as a anti-air then?

You're positive on block with the drop kick so you can go for a command grab or lk mp flying peach. Or just poke and then tick throw. Or nothing and bait a DP.

F hp is a great button to use if the opponent is waking up because it's fast, has good frame data (I think it might be positive?), catches jumping opponents, and since it is a heavy attack, it will beat out a lot of things due to the priority system in this game. As others have said you can do f hp into wingless airplane. You can also do it into ex flying peach and that way you can stay on your side in case you use it in the corner (wingless airplane puts you on the other side of the opponent- not ideal). Also if it hits crush counter you can do f hp dash f hp ex wingless.

Just got beaten to the punch literally on a wake up despite using a light punch barrage as I got up, instead I just got comboed the fuck out of :/
You lose to meaties if you press buttons on wake-up. Meaning their attack is already out there when yours is still starting-up and thus, hitting you out of it.

I mean, that's why it's a mix up. There's nothing about it that's new to SFV. It's about reading your opponent, just like they are reading you. They are guessing that you will block on wake up, so they go for the throw. If they think you will try to tech the throw on wake up, they will attack so you get hit. If your not in a corner, than your not trapped. You should be able to easily back dash, or roll out on wake up. I haven't played a ton, but I know they decreased hard knock downs, and gave some more quick rise options.
If you do get pinned in the corner, you can either attack on wake up and hope your attack will beat whatever is they throw, block or throw.
Yeah, I actually like this kind of paper-scissor-stone concept on wake-up.

You'll get better over time, trust me. I've sunk about 10 hours of play with My Ryu and decided to watch an early replay of my first match online.

Was like watching a 2 year old trying to play street fighter. I never blocked, punished or dashed.

Keep at it and the freezing slowly thaws.

Yeah, I have gotten better since my first match too. But yeah, I'll do a lot more match practice as well.

-----

By the way, me and throwawayname played 15 rounds, and I only won 2. Seems like I can't read opponents weaknesses and adjust. I saw that he were jumping way too much, so I should have punished that but I find it a little hard with a cr.mp.

Wake-up light attacks are no bueno in this game due to the priority system. Check the OP, but essentially, if a lighter and heavier attack come out at the same time, the heavier attack will ALWAYS win.

I dont know why but when i select cammy as my fav character i never find matches,am talking hours... but as soon as i switch to a characters like vega and nash matches happen every 5-10min

CAPCOM WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM

But shouldn't the speed of a light win over a slow heavy due to hitting first?

If you are knocked down the opponent can input the heavier attack just before you get up and are able to input your light attack, timing it so that their attack comes out at the same frame as your wake-up.

I'm not saying to never wake up jab (although it's not a good idea). If you are knocked down you will always be at a disadvantage and always be forced to play a guessing game. Blocking beats attacks. Or you can throw out an invincible move; the opponent might bait that however and punish you for it. If you think a throw is coming, tech it. If you think a command grab is coming, back dash-- or neutral jump and attack to punish that shit.

Of course the best solution is to just not get knocked down in the first place.

Wow I just had an opponent that was afk.

So I waited and waited, finally just killed him after a minute or so.

He ragequits before the win screen. Wat.

Just wondering, if I add someone on CFN, does it let them know that?
Basically on Xbox and PS3, you host a lost, then you go to your friends list and invite them. But on SF5, do they have to be on your CFN favourite friend list for you to have the ability to invite them? I've added everyone so far as a CFN Favourite. Lastly, if I do add someone, do I then appear on their list too like an Xbox/PSN friend request?
You don't need to add vice-versa to receive invites, but they won't be aware you're on their favorites list. You can also invite them by manually entering their name in a Battle Lounge, so it isn't limited to Favorites.

This and the risk of being thrown upon blocking is a balancing act.

If they're pulling a meatie and you have the character for it, you have to resort to an invincible move like Ryu's MP Shoryuken. If they intentionally do it too early though, you risk being punished with a Crush Counter. If you block and they do go in for the throw, you will usually be able to see them move forwards for approximately a second and this is the time frame where you can defensively jab them out of it. Furthermore, Street Fighter V also implemented a normal priority system to keep jab mashing in check, and V-Reversals exist in an attempt to bail you out of an uncertain outcome.

Great players will really make you think about all of the above, but those are relatively speaking few and far in between. Just know that this nuance exists.

Oh God, I'm so bad at punishing Laura with Ken. I can guard most of her attacks and escape from her critical art and some of her throws but still the only punishment that I have for her is simple throws :(

Don't get me wrong, I know some BNBs with Ken and can even use my CA or EX moves during some of them but Laura's recovery seems way too short to let me kick start any of my combos. I guard, see an opportunity, try to punish her but before any of my attacks hit her she has her guard up.

So, what should I do guys?

Ok now I had my opponent stunned in the last round, wanted to finish with CA and got a jab. Lost the match. I have to take a break.

Damn it ranked down, feels bad.

LOL love the avatar though.

I haven't touched the game in a couple of days because of R6 being fixed and The Division beta. :(

Thankfully the beta for that ends tonight so I'll be back into it tomorrow! lol Pretty sure that by the end of the week I'll have a spare Hot Ryu code too.

EDIT: Oh shit never mind, Fastlane is tonight. Forgot all about that. No beta or SFV it seems.

It's great how all the Betas really made me comfortable with multiple characters. Mika, Bison and Birdie. As a result, I've been able to concentrate on learning FANG. So now I have 4 man rotation.

I cant log into the servers at all now. The option is unavailable. Anyone else experiencing it?

WTF this game is bugged. It says im not logged into servers but I can get Fight Requests.

Still getting matches fine but its still taking 3+ minutes just to get to the VS screen due to whatever the network is trying to do. Its not a loading time, its something to do with the server. Its the biggest problem with the game right now imo.

"I've got Ken in the corner. I know he's going to jump! Therefore:"

I sat there in disbelief, previously not knowing Ken could do that.

Capcom better call up Mike Ross so they can properly nerf Dhalsim.
Nah, Dhalsim doesn't really need nerfs. Most people just don't know how to get around his gameplan since he's so unorthodox and don't notice the openings on some of his gimmicks.

Also doesn't help that he walks a very fine line between being safe and potentially eating damage over one wrong decision. People just need to stop pressing buttons all the time.

Bar finishing a match online is there a way to see the exact amount of XP a character currently has?
I think this is mentioned in your Fighter's Profile? Not sure.

Yes, we can't have people gaining an unfair advantage online by illegitimately unlocking additional colors.

I googled it and I can't find anything that leads me to believe it actually exist outside shady as fuck sites.

And I doubt that stuff would work online to begin with. BTW the most well known cheater for SFV is on PS4.

Usual sites say it's not real, but LOL at not wanting to play people who may not have gotten a colour legit.

Nope, only stuff like matchmaking not working. It's driving me crazy, I'm staring at blackl loading screens longer than I am playing the game.

Because of colors?

Joking guys lol! XD
