Street Fighter V |OT2| Another Fight Isn't Coming Your Way!

Did you know that Guile learned his Sonic Boom from Nash? Of course you did. But you didn't know that Guile had to use American scientists and the best technology to get it down, and it still takes most of his concentration to do it with both hands.

I thought Nash taught him that whole style period not just the Sonic Boom. But I expect Guile to be a beast in SFV, nothing like his SFIV counterpart.

I haven't played a fighter since SFII Turbo was new. I bought a Hori stick and gave this a go. I can't even consistently throw a fireball. This will end well.

Sonic Boom and Flash Kick. I think his style was made on his own, since it's a mix of a bunch of things. But it still took a lot of American tax dollars to get Nash's moves to come out right. Not like experiments, but just using tech to get the right speed or something you know what I mean.

Guile better come back hard, but I think Bison will be dealt with by the time he does return. So he might clean up Balrog and Birdie.

Just keep practicing. Remember where your hands are, take it slow, try not to mash. Also, play other games with the stick. It'll help you learn where your buttons are.

What?

He has slow sonic booms that can be used to mixup and trap, his Vtrigger is super good, his normals are ridiculous, he has an easy target combo that you can use V trigger to extend, he can teleport outta corners, his combos are easy and deal good damage

The only reason this guy isnt totally OP is because he has no reversal.

I won't argue with most of what you said because you are right for the most part, but he can't actually teleport out of the corner for free. Any meaty normal done on Nash's wakeup would stuff him out of the teleport and use up the meter. His only real way out is his V-reversal, and that requires V-gauge.

I think I am improving a little bit. Seems like patience and anti-airing is benefitting me more this time. Actually ranked up to Bronze, yay!!! No sure how I am going to reach Silver, but I'm going to eventually try.

You'll get it. Fundamental quarter circles will come through repetition. I just started a stick and get most of what I want.

Is it really that hard to make a matchmaking system that doesn't constantly put you up against people ranked 100k spots above you?

Are the ranks even valid? Mine changes wildly over the course of a day. How are they supposedly calculated?

I'm sure they have issues. But as a turd down around 235k, I sure as shit get my as pounded by people 150k and below and generally do ok against people also 200k and below and either lose close fights or win. :D

I'm doing my best to shrug off losses and keep that mantra of it takes months and years to get good at SF. But it's tempting to go back to MKX that I messed around with learning my stick a couple weeks ago as I won way more often there. I'm just hoping it will get better once all the players with years of SF experience rank up.

I also just may have to abandon Chun Li for an easier character since she's fragile and doesn't do a lot of damage unless you land her hard ass combos. Even the official guide lists her combos as probably the hardest in the game. But she's fun as hell to play as with great pokes and normals overall. Just challenging to punish with. I also have the Chun Li TE2 stick which adds to my desire to learn her for stupid reasons.

I'm going to give her a few more matches tonight and if I keep feeling like I'm regressing I'll just follow gooteck's advice and give Ryu ago and work through all the stuff in his new book and training mode exercises.

Oof, died on Stage 57 of Hell Survival with Zangief. I feel like I should get some damn colors and Fight Money for getting that far. Haunts plz.

That's Rashido's thang now

Ah, yeah, didn't even think about that. That's too bad. Vega seems...bad? Maybe someone who mains him can chime in. I had a Battle Lounge session just now with him. Got smacked around in FT5 by a handful of people. I did improve as I went so matches definitely got closer but some were brutal. Regardless, was great practice. I will keep learning and keep him in my pocket for local battles.
