Aw yis:

Had to go through an army of Kens, but the Birdie being solid made it more gratifying. Also reposting this like a dirty shill for those who were on a widely different time zone earlier:

Wrote some basic guidelines on how to play Dhalsim over in the other thread, for those interested. Includes some simple pointers on how to fight against him too.

two questions

1) can you be thrown while crouching? not sure if they're just mashing / i'm not picking the right moves that come out fast enough

2) mika's slide seems a bit slow to punish blocked sweeps. what's a good alternative? i think f.mp to rope throw might work, but the distance required throws me off sometimes. maybe c.fp? but that doesn't knock down, unless i can combo it in to qcf punch.

Doesn't seem like you can Spike xx CA with Trigger on with Cammy. Doesn't make much of a difference, though. I'd rather finish with the Spike and save the CA.

What stragety are you using?
Beat the crap out of everyone until I reach Stage 26 Ryu, then I try to avoid unsafe stuff and just confirm my hits. Random power ups fucked me over a couple of times with Low health regen.

dont give up, i did it for each of her costumes too.....still trying on hard now.

Yeah, will probably try later, wasted a lot of time trying 4 times.

ignore my terrible terrible skills. XD

i'm usually better, i promise. My left finger is hurting cos i played too much today. Apparently i hold the controller wrong cos my left index finger really is sore.. ><

I meant the Ryu before he RQs. You could see he was trying to throw fireballs but he was just punching air

1. You sure can. You cannot be thrown out of block stun or hit stun, though.

2. I don't know the answer, sorry.

I feel like the game is good for grapplers, since its damage is so high. But whiffed grabs also get punished harder, so there's that.

thanks, guess i'll just have to play around in training mode a bit more

God damn it.

In a hotel for a week or so and the ethernet port isn't working. Actually convinced the manager on duty to let me look in their network closet. Looks like my room is patched down and showing link but I can't connect. She doesn't even know who to call. Says no one ever asks about ethernet. :lol

Oh well.

Was planning on binging on SFV this weekend but outlook not good. Don't want to torture people with crappy hotel wifi. =/

Here is my Facebook post from last weekend:

Trying to get a match on Street Fighter V with hotel WiFi is like panhandling on the street for spare change.
Sad and desperate.

I felt your pain.

And what kind of quality do you think the match will be even if you get in? I feel sorry for your opponent.

With Birdie, I get overwhelmed when people keep me pressed--so Cammy, for example. Seems like I'm stuck in block stun/frame traps forever and don't recognize openings or I do and press the wrong button. Ken has also done this, good Ken's that engage. Just stuck in block mode.

I know what you mean. The trick is to trust the crouching jab. We gotta get that additive damage.

Figured out a trick to get lobbies working consistently.
When your opponent eventually leaves the room, you have to click on "dismantle lobby".

Then you can start a new one and you will get people to join more often. My guess is, all of those rooms you see up after searching for a lobby are " ghost rooms" because players just leave them and the server doesn't refresh (and clear them out) as often as it should. Thus, you get a "cannot join room error" on every game on the lobby list even if they aren't full... which is really annoying.

For some reason, when a player leaves your room, you won't get anymore opponents. It is like your room doesn't show up, but it is still there obviously because you are in it.

Got my first crash. In the middle of a ranked fight I got a fatal error that called the game UE4 Kiwi. Maybe it was from using gamebar dvr.

Stop pitting me against Gold players! I can't win!

Edit: Well, I won this one, but the odds are against me, game.
I keep telling myself it's not about winning or losing or rank. It's about playing people who are better than you so you can get better.

I keep telling myself this.

Did you know that Guile learned his Sonic Boom from Nash? Of course you did. But you didn't know that Guile had to use American scientists and the best technology to get it down, and it still takes most of his concentration to do it with both hands.

That's the best mindset to have, and also what I try to tell myself. Going against people better than you are are actually nice opportunities to learn and improve. But man, it can still be disheartening when you're looking at a real steep hill in front of you.

Also, did something happen to the rage quitters? Are there other people who haven't encountered many tonight? I'm beating a fair amount of people, and yet I haven't encountered a single rage quitter yet. That's unprecedented.

I only encountered 1 in over 20 matches (I'm only winning like 50% though). I had stopped recording because it had been so long without one then BOOM. Rashid player who's name I can't remember.

Charlie needs a GOOD reversal

What?

He has slow sonic booms that can be used to mixup and trap, his Vtrigger is super good, his normals are ridiculous, he has an easy target combo that you can use V trigger to extend, he can teleport outta corners, his combos are easy and deal good damage

The only reason this guy isnt totally OP is because he has no reversal.

Yes, we are well aware of the problem of players disconnecting before the match ends to retain their League Points and their win streaks. Thanks to all of the players who have brought this to our attention.

OH GOD PLEASE STOP BLOWING UP OUR SOCIAL MEDIA! Poor haunts.

I wonder what kind of punishments these players will face, the idea of them going through possibly hundreds/thousands of clips is kind of insane.

I think I'm finally understanding Karin now. Not super into her V-skill, but her v trigger moves are fun. Nash and Cammy are my worst enemies

Fuck it ill say it. I love watching Ken now. He looks flashy as shit. By far my favorite iteration of the character.

I think a lot of people want more tools for a character without realizing that instead of dealing with the weakness, adding another strength would just make them broken as fuck.

But that'd take away one of his biggest weaknesses and his equalizer.

Stay out of the corner. You have vtrigger, if you have to use it for that, too bad.

Nash can get jabbed out of his V-Trigger if the opponent is fast enough, I thinks it's a good balance.

Don't need Nash to be over powered.

Wow. I was not prepared for there being more than 30 rounds of survival on hard. I came in with a sliver of health on round 31... what a soul crusher.
