Necalli imediatly seems easier to use than Rashid. not surprisingly but still

is it me or he has no crossup? MK maybe? seems hard to hit if so

j.MK is his crossup but it seems to have relatively little hitstun. Doing j.MK, cr.MK doesn't combo if you do j.MK high enough for instance.

I also can't believe I read all 400+ pages of OT1. I have never done that in any thread on GAF since I came here 10+ years ago. Lots of tips and guides on every single page.

Smash OT was kinda the same way.

Seems like there should be a different thread dedicated to people looking for matches.
I really don't agree with this. This would only split the community. And it's so nice and comfy with a great atmosphere in here. I had no problem with the people asking for games in the first OT. It didn't make the reading of said thread any less enjoyable.

I mean, if the j.MK hits you wouldn't want to do cr.MK anyway. You generally want to follow j.MK cross-up with s.MK so you can link into cr.MP or target combo.

What!? I think I have only been on a Wall of Shame once in 10 years. Seems like I really am gonna dip into this game hard, and I haven't felt this way for years. It's such a nice feeling having a main game again (besides Fifa).

Had some time to start/finish story mode yesterday. FANG's origin story is actually pretty cool, and I was happy with some of the cameos. The Karin/Birdie dynamic is fun.
 
Couldn't do it on hard. I got to 44 with Ken mashing MP shoryu 99% of the time.

I had a defense up and I still got bodied. Had full health. I forget who the opponent was, (Karin? Chun?) but it just blocked it all, and it came down to no health for either of us, mashed a ex shoryu, and AI blocked and punished.

FML. :(
 
How about a name and shame thread with videos exposing rage quitters. I've had enough of ranked now until the penalty gets introduced. I'm not going to beat my head against the wall trying to rank up when people rage quit anytime I get a win. A french Vega player by the tag 'junyko' was the straw that broke this camel's back.
 
A bit of both. There are less moves in SF5, but there was never a neutral, forward and back version of every move in any SF.

SF2 had close and/or far standing normals. 2 variations at most. And, a lot of those moves were useless. People would just distill everyone's moves down to the ones that didn't suck, and exclusively used those. So, Capcom streamlined the movelists in SF5, so every button has a purpose.

Also, they got rid of proximity normals (attacks changing depending on how close you are), and now allow you to chose which move you want to use independent of distance.

Maybe I should start to read all those bookmarks I make about SFV too learn stuff.

You're not reading your bookmarks? I'm going slowly through mine, reading something every day, or watching a video, to set myself in the right mind. Don't force yourself though, it should be something you want to do, so it doesn't become a drag and dries you out.

Sometimes it's still the servers. I thought this guy raged quitting me and he messaged me like dude, why U quit? So it's best to just play and deal with it. If you are getting matches every 2-3 minutes, you should get long stretches of players who aren't quitting. Also, people are trying to reach 4K for the trophy, once that's accomplished it should slow down some.

It gets a lot of negative talk, but I really enjoyed it as a prologue / showing how everyone knows each other / what everyone is doing before the shit hits the fan. Plus, a good amount are actually silly/funny and the voice acting is fun (or at least I thought so).

Capcops can have my fight $ for colors. Fuck it.

It wouldn't be bad if it was the AI from 40-50. But grinding idiots for 39 matches before the game starts up is just tiring. :/

I'd really like to see an option to use the points you've accumulated to buy a continue at least. Or a "Double Up" option that lets you skip forward a few matches.

Thank you de fault! I guess it goes down right when I go to sleep, and then it'll be back up when I'm sleeping. Either I'm waking up to 20+ pages of blissful happiness for the servers now working for everybody, or it'll be fair cries about it still being the same, which I hope not.
 
Anyone mind sharing some of Vega's BnBs with me?

All I know are his target combos and two combos that go into v-trigger into super. It was enough to get into bronze but I'm becoming too predictable.

I tried messing around in training mode but couldn't find anything else.

Just found out that standing fierce + qcb mp works too.

S.Hp x l.ase is godlike. Abuse it.

Claw on - c.mk, c.lp x roll

Claw off - c.mk, c.mp x ex.roll (fantastic for pressure.. Safe on block)

Vtrigger on a jumping opponent straight to super is still working at 2500lp.. Abuse it.

C.mp, s.mp, and f.hp are all buttons you should be pressing frequently with the claw on. Keep those bastards out as his AA options are pathetic.

I'm surprised more streamers don't stream their survival mode attempts.

The salt would make good TV.

Nah man, everything here is good, it's just not enough for a lot of people. And that's reasonable. Imagine this prologue intro, and then you go into the story mode with all the boss fights, daily challenges like perfect an opponent for 5k FM, or win 10 in a row. Trials, spectating, trash talking with chat and text Windows, it by all means should come together to me something amazing, hopefully Capcom does it right.

The fact that people legit think that this game will bomb cause of the lack of day 1 content is just hilarious to me

I'm pretty exited for them too! I enjoy the puzzle-ish aspect of figuring out how they work.

I'm with you on the art! I don't mind exaggerated styles, especially when you can pretty much guess someone at Capcom said "Oh hell, our story mode won't be ready in time? Call Bendus and get 400 drawings by tomorrow!"

Yeah I wish it would let you pick full or high health... or even medium for pete sakes just not random pick. I get low EVERYTIME I actually am low, and I get full when I'm barely scathed.

I agree on the let me give up my entire score for a continue idea.
 
Is Nash's Crack Shoot (Sonic Moonsault or something) punishable on block? Or is the only real solution to stuff it before it reaches you?
 
How can they rank Sim with low mobility ?? Ever try to hit that muthafuka? He's slippery af. They must be basing it on walk speed alone..

Anyone start trying to learn an alt yet? Who?

I main Bison and am thinking about who to start learning as a secondary for when I need some variety, and not sure who to go for. My only thought is someone that has better defensive tools than Bison does, so I have more options than just v.Reversal. Maybe Necalli, Ken?

Also I just realized I've never fought a Dhalsim player online. I'm at nearly 2000 points and have never run into him. I'm going to be so free when I finally do since I have no idea what to do.

It would have been incredibly coincidental timing for it to be a server issue. Nah, I'm not going to play and deal with it. I'll stick to casual from now until it's sorted. I shouldn't have to suffer because some knob that isn't good enough to get to gold legitimately wants to cheat his way to a trophy. Thankfully haven't encountered any quitters in casual. Yet.
 
Sounds like input leniency issues. For example if you are walking forward, and immediately input QCF + P, you will get a DP. This is because of the forward input you were using to walk forward being considered the first active input, and forward, down, forward is a DP input shortcut. The input window is long enough that the forward is still within the window at the start.

It can help to train yourself to go to down back instead of down when you need to start a QCF move from forward movement. That's basically how I learned to get Ryu's low forward into fireball cleanly from the walking forward state instead of accidentally getting a DP.

As for the super inputs, leniency has changed there from SF4. Previously the middle inputs had leniency; you could do down, down forward, down back, forward and actually get a QCF x2 super (because the second input is looking for any variation of forward, and the third is looking for any variation of down). You no longer have leniency on the middle inputs; you need a down, a forward, a second down, and a second forward in the input window to get QCF x 2.

I'll have to try this and see if it'll help. Thanks for the info!
