Huh, it didn't feel like I posted that much. Makes sense though, since most of the people left in this thread are regulars.

I would also add a stick list for the PC version since it can use pretty much any stick especially ones from x360 that can be purchased for pretty cheap these days.

New thread, new noob question:

As guile what are my options on the opponents wake up? I feel like I'm always getting pressured when I'm getting up, but when the opponent is getting up I'm just giving him space and going back to neutral because Im trying to play a keep away game and don't know how to pressure.

Yeah, the majority of RQers I've faced seem to be in Super Gold, extremely few above that league.

EX Flash Kick is your invincible reversal option.

Anyone here playing Bison, Necalli or Birdie ? I really need more match-up practice against those characters.

It's funny to see people still complain about her so much despite her being one of the better balanced characters.

She's hits like a train once she gets going. That said, it was the player mistake for even let her get the chance.

For your own wake up

1. Block (obviously)
2. Throw if you're expecting the throw on wakeup
3. Backdash/neutral jump if you're playing against a grappler and are expecting a command grab
4. EX Flash Kick - It's an invincible reversal, so anything the opponent does except block will get beat out. It's a good tool to use at least once just to let your opponent know you're willing to do it and force them to think about their own mixups.

With Guile, you want to be somewhat conservative with your meter as opponents won't fear your wake up game if you don't have any bars for EX.

Edit: Oh fuck I read this wrong.

What others said basically, throws and meaty st.mp are excellent, as well as b.hp. As always be wary of the DP from characters like Ryu, Necalli, Ken, etc. and work on your own max CC punishes in cases like these. The last thing you want to do is to reset the neutral after you worked so hard to get close and knock them down.

Not a Guile player, but what the hell, I'll get it a shot.

IMO, his best options in the situation you described is a meaty st.mp (which takes a lot of practice to get right consistently), a b.hp which is good since it's also a CC bait, f.hk which is a great button in general IMO and his st.hk.

F.hp doesn't hit high which is a problem and st.hp is -4 on block but it is a CC so it's situational.

The same as everyone else.
You either throw, meaty attack or meaty crush counter, this pretty much depends on what you think your opponent is going to do, which you can kinda condition.

If you notice your opponent always does an invincible reversal on wakeup, you just block, and punish.
If they tech your throw, or simply throw on wakeup, you neutral jump or walk backwards slightly, so you can punish the throw/tech attempt.
If they just block low on wakeup, you could do a meaty overhead.
If they mash light attacks on wakeup, you punish that by using a meaty crush counter.

I am maybe 5 or 6 more losses away from saying fuck it (since i can't find a main) and join the Ryu army, dude is OP, if i am going to lose might as well lose with the best character in the game lol..

But how are you going to cope when you can't blame your character choice on your failings as a player?

I joined the Ryu army recently specifically for the parry and his high dmg. Dude feels great to use but my issue is everybody and their grandma's know the shoto match-up. So I find it very tough to open up people for a combo.

I am however having great success with catching people offguard with my parry lol.

I think it's more like she's extremely good in specific matchups that can make character specialists detest her.

More like, any hit corner carries and if you guess wrong once after that, you're probably dead. That's an easy thing get salty about.

I don't care about that, though. She can keep her shit. The only thing that bugs me is her V-reversal. Should be even instead of advantaged. Don't like that she gets a mix-up.

Others have covered a lot of the basics, but I also find st. mp and V-Skill to be very useful to keep pressure on. The second and third parts of this video cover a few examples.

That's true but some characters just generally have an easier way of dealing with it than others. Birdie can keep her out for days and if he guesses right with his EX Command grab/EX Bullhorn usage can get out of the corner.

Any character with an Invincible reversal has at least one option in their repertoire that allows them to get a clean escape.

Someone like Alex or Balrog though, once they get stuck in the corner, they are freaking staying there till the match is over. And since the poster who originally was hatin on the wrestling goddess in this thread was an Alex player, I'm assuming that's the real reason for the hate. That not only is she a tough character to play against, the matchup is definitely in her favour.

I mean it's been 6 months, we've kinda gotten used to the whole "she carries you to the corner and kills you routine" so it's pointless to keep getting salty over that.

She screams "got you" for every other move she performs. It's so damn annoying when I first heard it.
What does she say during her overhead? Wide open? It's so fucking annoying when every Ibuki keeps spamming it.

Great job Garrett! OT5 just in time for EVO weekend!

Thanks for the tips everyone, I think I'll keep it simple for now and just try to incorporate a meaty st.mp into cr.mp for now.

I freakin hate st.mp but maybe this will change my mind on it.

I agree. I'm not asking for nerfs.

I hate her design and the design of every character who puts you in a blender and kills you with a coin-flip, but that doesn't mean she's broken.

At least she has some personality and humor. Unlike Laura, who is devoid of any redeeming quality.

Even though that's probably gonna piss off those 2 or 3 Laura players on GAF, can't help but agree with you. Laura's whole design is just so bad.

Gameplay wise, she's great but otherwise....

I keep considering messing around with Laura a bit, she's fun to play and I did buy her premium costume because its aweosme.

Does anyone have a good Ibuki tutorial video?

I'm deserting the Mika army. Had enough of this woman, bored of doing the same gimmicks over and over.

Laura's better designed than 90% of the cast and is more fun to play than everyone else tbh

And she also has the best costumes, though luxury chun is real good.

I thought you were joking with your first sentence.

I knew you were joking after your second sentence.
