Street Fighter V |OTV| BUFF MY MAIN & NERF THE CHARACTER I JUST LOST TO

What RQ? no.

If you meant making big gifs, yeah I'm not great with pc's lol. I didn't realize they would be so big when they were done. Hence why I put em in quotes.

You can always just link to the gifs. And if I might suggest uploading them to sites like gfycat or imgur and then linking to the html5/webm versions. They're usually the same quality but with CONSIDERABLY reduced sizes.

Enjoy your time, and best of luck to you !

Thanks! This line is already long, lol

Have fun!!

You gonna be participating or just observing?

I entered sf5, GG, and t7

Remember to ask for Cammy buffs.

Have fun!

Going to the panel just to complain that cammy hasn't won every major, and we need to come together and give her the tools to do it.

Let me know if you see any cool stuff for sticks there ;)

Will do.

Anyone top players in your group?

I have to play chi rithy if I win my first match.

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
Is there any way to see all your character levels in a list? Or do I have to set each as my favorite and bring up my Fighter Profile.

SF has some of the most boring and bland character designs of any popular fighting game, so it's not really saying much, but Laura's design is still better than most. Though in SFV they've done a good job with making characters look a lot cooler, especially Balrog.

It's also why, even though I don't like 3S, I really appreciate what they did with the character designs as characters like Necro, Hugo, and even Remy are far superior to the characters they were meant to replace.

What's your high standard for fighting game character designs? Street Fighter designs, in perhaps every iteration, are just "simple." That doesn't necessarily equate to bland.

For example, Arc System Works characters aren't simple. They're over designed. At some point in the design they may have the simplicity of a Street Fighter character but then the designer is compelled to cover them in tchotchkes and religious iconography. And I like, generally, the Guilty Gear designs. Conversely, BlazBlue characters are both over designed and bland.

That's kind of why I think 3S had the best designs in the series. Traditionally, when you keep a design simple to evoke a concept (karate guy, military guy, etc.) you run the risk of just presenting the standard archetype (although SF created a lot of these archetypes). 3S sidestepped this issue by subverting these archetypes slightly. Makoto's big difference is that she's a girl but she looks like a standard karateka. Dudley subverts Balrog by being his exact opposite in personality. Hugo isn't nimble, per second, but his uniqueness comes from him being the largest character who has multiple moves that send him flying around the screen doing clumsy acrobatics.

Yeah now that I look back on it, i jumped the gun a bit there on SF having the consistent worse designs of any popular fight game. Blazblue (even tho there are designs i like) for the most part is worse with SF in second behind it.

I think that SNK games, Tekken, Soul Calibur, etc. are all more consistent in quality of designs. Of course, each of those games have their own fair share of garbage, but i can look at those games and see that more than 1/10 of their casts arent bad/bland designs.

You can definitely do simplicity without being bland but SF isnt a good example of that, even if it has a few examples of its own like Ryu and Makoto.

I'd actually settle for just buffs for my main, don't have to nerf Laura, I mean the character I just lost to.

To be honest, I didn't think twice about the Street Fighter designs until this game. Now that the likes of Balrog, Karin, Guile, & Ken look great from a design standpoint (with varying degrees of execution), it's kinda hard to go back to their old incarnations. Hell, even if Urien rips off his suit either way, they gave Urien a much better suit in SFV (though the fact that he doesn't at least bronze up from being paler skin/blonde hair before the fight bothers me....which I hope is added in the final build of the character). Even the small details like giving Cammy tactical straps, making Bison's hair white & have a longer jacket that drapes like a trench coat (giving him that kind of badass loose clothing that was previously provided by his SF Alpha cape), or Vega a fancy dress shirt goes a long way in refreshing classic designs. I just wish that Hot Ryu was the actual default design for Ryu, but I suppose that he's too iconic to change (same for Chun-Li).

Awesome OT Garrett, thanks for the hard work putting it together :)

I've been avoiding ranked for over 2 months now but I think I've finally pulled my Karin together enough to make me curious how far up I can get. I just hate playing online so much against random players, about the only thing I do now is battle lounge.

Tekken 7 has some of the worst costume designs I've ever seen.

Is there a good evo documentary out there? I'm pretty excited to watch this year since I've just started to play the game, but I don't even know how the format works except for that there's like 500 people in it.

SNK may have the best designs overall because they evoke this 80's/90's style I like (because, in part, these designs are very old) but I feel they play it safe by making too many characters generically cool. The designs are pretty simple but they're all leaning toward pretty boys and girls who dress like rock stars or fashion models, but not glam rock stars or high fashion models so their looks are rather tame.

Street Fighter, for better or worse, likes to do a lot of comedic designs or flat out bizarre designs. A running motif in the games is to throw in a character with a neon skin tone (Blanka, Oro, Hakan) without concerning themselves as to why so much.

Tekken is pretty goofy but focuses on cool too much and apparently cool to Harada is dressing up the fighters in bro-ey Affliction-esque gear.

Soul Calibur started off with really good designs but they, over time, got worse. Ivy went from wearing a somewhay scandalous outfit to fit her dominatrix personality to looking like her design was based on her in a lactation-themed doujin or something. It was like the equivalent of letting fans design the characters but these fans were the ones who expressed their fandom through cartoon porn.

You didn't mention these but you put BlazBlue last behind SFV so I'm assuming you think KI and MK have better designs, which they never did. I'd probably rate BB worse than those but they are near the bottom.

The format is double elimination so its going to be kind of insane with over 5k people there. They play best of 3s until usually top 8 and it goes best of 5s.

How big is the bracket lol! it's gonna take two and a half weeks.

And I thought WNF kept me up late.

There's like 20000000000000000000 different pools so that expedites the process in parallel. But still it's gonna take a long time.

USF4 was like 2500 people and it was just match after match from like 8 am to 10 pm until top 8 bc they had to do it in one day

And pools are just like mini tournaments on there own? I assume the seeding must be random because how could anybody ever seed that many players.

Pools are large enough to be majors in their own right I think. Or maybe regionals

Why doesn't somebody with "computer skills" organize a gaf-tournament?
That would be fun

I know they did several for Tekken when I played TTT2, you're talking online tournament right ?

There is a weekly ranking thread in SRK forums and an online tournament next week on the same forum.

Such a massive # of entrants. Would have loved to be there to watch SFV's first year at EVO. Can people roll up over the weekend and attend? I've never been, but not sure how seating goes.
