Stressed?

So work is amazing and i love my job but there is alot of pressure. I have 40 employees and we have rolled out vpn devices and helped the nation guard for covid testing and just about anything asked of my team. Last year i had 40 hours of unused vacation use or lose it and i got permission to keep it till this July then i lose it. I have like 390 hours of vacation and i need to use it but there is to much shit going on. Even having vacation stresses me out.

I have an awesome wife and family also. Then when I’m home my wife is stressed and so am I but I guess I don’t show it. Being the rock for work and home is stressful as fuck though to be honest. We also have two little boys 1 and 4.

Last week i sat in my car and screamed and it was the best feeling. Even my back felt better from just screaming for a few minutes.
So i don’t think screaming in the car is the solution.😂.

Gaf what do you do to relief stress?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I don't have the answer but I'm also curious what other people are doing these days to cope.

Maybe I need to go scream in my car for a while.

Before confinement I would punch the bag at the gym or take a walk.

These days I feel better after a good home workout. Writing down my frustrated thoughts works too. I was going to reply to a thread yesterday, wrote down a reply in my notes, and gave up later on posting it because it would only cause unnecessary back and forth. But writing it helped me move on.

You must be my secret twin switched at birth
Of that I have no doubt:

Keepin' the community focused on backlogs together.

Wonder which one is the evil twin, though? :pie_thinking:

Depends. If you don't have a beard, then it's obviously me!

Work out
Play video games
Smoke weed
Hug my kids

I feel you bro, The prep and worry about being away from the office for 2 weeks is almost more then the stress reduction provided by being on vacation.

Any sort of exercise seems to help me almost instantly. Even if I just walk for 20 minutes on a treadmill at a modest pace, I feel a bit better right afterward.

I wish I had like a punching bag/dummy or something safely use like that, as some sort of release. I am sure that could be helpful as well.

I've noticed my 'stress' does not come from any objective measurement of unfinished work or from the difficulty of the task, but from a feeling of needing to handle time-sensitive tasks but without the means to do so. When I'm juggling just to fall behind less than I otherwise would, that's when the stress begins to creep in. "Time management" isn't quite right... it's more like "time perception management".

Try to read an interesting book, either a short story collection, a Bible, or something that can be picked up and put down in the span of 5 or 10 minutes. Do this every day. After a week, you'll begin to feel a growing sense of 'accomplishment' (not suggesting you are unaccomplished) and 'progress' from week to week. A book is an "achievement" that is very easy to quantify and to digest one page at a time. You'll notice the mental stimulation clears out the cobwebs. When you genuinely "don't have any extra time", that is the best time to be consistent on small, easy habits. Anyone can spare 10 minutes.

I do have a beard. I don't know if that cancels out the evil or doubles it.

I got so stressed out at work I decided maybe now would be a good time to do something super stressful like buying a house.

I've been doing exactly this for the past few weeks. I picked up a Kindle Fire 10 inch tablet, and I've been reading JoJo manga on it. I loved comic books as a kid but I haven't had a lot of time to read them lately, but I've been really enjoying these after watching all of the anime. Now if I don't read at least a chapter or more before bed at night, I feel like I was robbed of "me time".

Ask me about my wife's perfect butthole
I've been crazy stressed lately; work only got busier recently and my only stress relief is consuming the damned souls of my mortal enemies.

My job is a damn roller coaster, so the low moments cause a ton of stress. I try to be aware of my mental state at all times. Some things I do are:

Routine/daily:
I workout everyday, sometimes taking a day or two off for rest--great for letting steam off.
7-8 hours of sleep a night, which is the most important thing for me personally.

Weekly:
I've started mindful meditation & yoga through a work provided coach. It helps and I am going to try to increase the frequency I do it.
Bake bread, cook a nice meal--kitchen time for me is happy time. Do not ever underestimate how rewarding and fulfilling a good meal can be.
Reading books and listening to records.
Budgeting--sounds weird but I really enjoy reviewing my finances and tracking against my future goals. I love planning in general.

Seasonally/annually:
Kayaking, rock climbing, camping, hiking, and lakes.
2 weeks or more vacation with the wife, typically getting a remote cabin for most of the trip and spending a few days in a metro area.
Videogames in cold months when it is harder to be outdoors.

As needed:
Talking to the wife/friends/trusted coworkers--you always need someone to vent to.
Just socializing in general, as I am an extrovert most of the time.

Avoid certain things:
A big thing for me this year has been reducing alcohol. I don't necessarily want to be a teetotaler, but I do notice I am much more mentally healthy when I don't drink.
Overall, I am a defaulty high-strung person so knowing what stresses me out and avoiding it in general is helpful.
With work specifically, trying to not let the things out of my control weigh me down. It doesn't always work so I try to be as honest with myself as I can when stressed.

Any guide on this or book/website to read?

When I first started, I had a ton of issues with meditating. I've got a very busy brain and it's hard sometimes to just let it chill.

This game actually helped me a ton to the point where I no longer need it and it would feel silly to use a game to help me meditate. I also have read a couple books on Buddhism, but you really dont need all that.

Find somewhere quiet. Close your eyes. Breathe deep and steady. Let thoughts come, and let them go. Do this for 10 minutes, 20 km yes, etc. Dont hold onto your thoughts. The point of meditation isnt to shut your brain off completely but just to relax it more or less.

Hope that helps.

I find myself to be a bit stuck. I have been exercising regularly again, but it doesn't seem to help with stress. I really just feel like I work and go home, and have had to let some hobbies go due to time. My job is heavy with socializing, but I am not a social person. I'm good at my job, but being social tires me out.

Changing jobs isn't really an option, so I sort of endure. I am pretty drained when the day is over, but I exercise regardless. If I miss a set day, then I make it up the next.

Honestly I don't even know if it is stress I feel. A day off doesn't really make me feel well rested, exercise doesn't make me feel pumped. Just kinda making it day to day.

I look forward to game releases, but lack the time to play, and when I do have time....I just want to rest, but there isn't enough time before I'm back at work again.

I usually don't feel bad at work, it's always before or after.

I had a panic attack like 2 days ago. Thought I was having a heart attack but nope, still alive. Any tips to relax during the nights?? Haven't had an attack in like months.
