Yeah. Not sure if Chris Bellman did them all though, I can only confirm Ride the lighting has his signature in the deadwax (and have read that kill em all does too).
Apparently the first lot of blackened re-releases were pretty bad (2014?), but the 2016 ones are good.

Its the EU/UK version but I assume its identical to the USA blackened release too (as it has P-USA in the deadwax, i.e pressed at Pallas)
So I got a player for Christmas but have had a few LPs for a couple months. Just started researching care and stuff for them and found out that you shouldn't store them horizontally. I had a few stored horizontally for a week or two, does it take longer than that for them to get fucked up or can that do it? (Edit: did some more searching and it seems like I'd need a much bigger stack and more time to screw them up.)

Ideally your records would sit like this
Extra mile care would be each having their inner paper sleeve replaced with something like this and altogether stored in an outer sleeve like this. That's after giving the record a proper cleaning (either using a device like a spin clean or with a record cleaning fluid mixture and a micro fiber cloth. A good one that doesn't shed if it sheds it will only leave traces of itself in the grooves of the record and impede performance.

Alright, so I got a cleaning kit and am now cleaning my records before I play them. Got sleeves coming in the mail later this week too. I just picked up Every Open Eye by Chvrches and Run The Jewels 2 to add to the collection. So so far I've got

Just picked up Mumford and Sons' Sigh No More and it's one of the worst quality records in my collection so far, sadly. Tons of distortion and popping, and I looked it up and looks to be a widespread issue with this album. Lesson learned to research quality before purchasing instead of assuming it'll be fine :/
Edit: Looks like it's just the A side, which is what everyone else has the issue with according to reviews. Shame, some of the best songs on the album are on that side.

The Twin Peaks Firewalk with me vinyl reissue is coming from Death Waltz on January 25th. Alamo Drafthouse is doing a one night only showing of the movie as well a bundle that nets you the vinyl as well (which is $43.50).

I kind of hate the packaging they've gone with for these Twin Peaks releases. The art is fine I guess, but I don't like the die-cut chevron outer sleeve that much. They could/should have done something better.
Of course, I've bought my ticket to see FWWM and pick up the vinyl. Yay!

Finally received my twin peaks replacement and it's just as noisy as the last copy.
No excuse for it really. Not sure why I can go into Camden Market and pick up an old pressing of the Erasherhead soundtrack and it sound flawless, but my brand new Twin Peaks pressing sounds crap.
I pray Death Waltz don't use Rainbo for FWWM as well.

Camden market...
I went to London last week and, while waiting for my train from Euston, I went to Camden for a look around. This is about 9:30 in the morning. Every record store was closed. Two were due to open at 11am so I waited around. By 11:20, they still weren't open so I gave up. Another one was due to open at 11:30. By noon...yeah, you guessed. So I went home without seeing a single record store.
I don't believe modern records are inherently worse than old records, but there's lots of examples of old records I've bought that sounded great and new releases (still sealed) that sounded awful. Californication is the worst one I've ever heard and I took it to HMV for an exchange. It was unplayable.
Older records also had the opportunity to not be produced in manufacturing facilities that weren't overloaded with jobs. Quality oversight drops heavily when some albums have to be submitted six months in advance for the them to be pressed and manufactured in time for release. I'm gunna bet that's the reason why a lot of Frank Ocean - Blond orders are still left unfulfilled and why a lot of modern era pressings don't have the proper quality control that older albums had the pleasure of receiving.
Quality control definitely is an issue. I bought a Foo Fighters album from Amazon and one LP was full of scratches on both sides in one corner. There was a lump or two of wax stuck to the edge, which came off in my hand. I phoned Amazon and they exchanged it. My replacement was fine

I'm in Somerset, so when I get the chance to go to Camden and visit friends etc, I grab it with both hands. The bank account didn't like it so much though!
I find brand new vinyl is far more inconsistent than the old used vinyl. Of course the high prices compound the issues as well - if you're going to charge me £20 it should be of decent quality.
Another brand new LP I bought recently was the latest Leonard Cohen album, and side one is a frustrating listen as there's a weird scratchy hum throughout. Side 2 is flawless though.
Did anyone here order the new NIN EP on vinyl a few weeks back? I ordered one immediately but no idea if they've dispatched over in the States or not?
Except for the fact it was still a Foo Fighters album

I bought a few albums and the biggie arrived today - Rise Against: The Sufferer And The Witness
It's one of their best albums, my personal favourite, and an absolute punk classic. I didn't know at the time, but I ordered the original 2006 pressing and not the reissue. The packaging is pretty flimsy though tbh but it sounds fantastic

Hi everyone, since I got a record player for Christmas I've been building up a tiny collection of records and would love to share and chat with you guys.
Record Player is a modest TEAC TN-300. Most important to me was a sturdy build with some weight, an amicable design and a pre amplifier that can also be turned off. Price limit was 300 EUR. The USB output was a plus since I knew I could do my parents a big favor that would knock them off their feed, digitalizing their old records. I personally don't really need it, though it's nice to have looking at some of my old records.
Here is a pic of my set up.
The player is hooked to my Yamaha Pianocraft, which is also a modest system I guess. I used to work for BMG Music some years ago and all the A'n'Rs had one in their office. That's where I got that idea from. If it's good enough for THEM... I have a small apartment and the sound is fine. I don't wanna go full „hi fi - retard” just now. The shelf is a IKEA best module which I got reduced from their repository section. It fits right under the shelves and can be pushed underneath when I finished playing.
Leads me to my record collection so far.
Accompanying my christmas present I got myself my (everybody's!) two favorite Christmas albums

I live very close to Manchester, UK. It's always had a huge music scene and there are several good record stores.I don't use them very often though. Most of my favourite purchases have come from eBay or Amazon marketplace. Shop around and know what to expect in terms of prices, and you can find some real bargains
Ah yes, I imagne the UK in general must be record dreamland. It is kinda curious how you can "read" a city in a local record store. In Berlin you mainly find punk and wave for whatever reason.

There are shops in Manchester that specialise in 70s-80s, and cover all genres. There's an awesome second hand shop that sells everything and it's so well organised. Then there's mainstream shops and a few more niche shops dotted around. I'd love to see punk represented a bit more but it isn't, sadly.

lol. I have a friend and we play this same joke with each other. Whenever one of us goes to a show, the other person will pretend to not know the band at all. It's a dumb joke but we've been doing it for 5 years now

That's awesome man, I love seeing people's set ups! So jelly. I also just recently acquired Paul's Boutique, you're gonna love it!
Oh and if you're interested in that album, here's a mixtape created by three DJs as an ode to Boutique- the entire album is remixed using the same sample sources on each track but different samples than the ones used on the record. Sounds complicated but it's not.

I picked up two more Rise Against albums: Siren Song Of The Counter Culture and Appeal To Reason. Both undoubted punk classics, although neither are my favourite Rise Against album. I bought them from a seller on Amazon for a good price. I was pleased the Appeal To Reason vinyl is a first pressing, on a clear white vinyl
