(It stopped me from buying either a PC or a new TV though so maybe I actually saved money...)

-- FLCL volumes 1, 2, and 3.

After reading the Akira thread I remembered this and felt like watching it again. Of course there's no way I'm buying 2 episode DVDs... I read some reviews and a few hours later ordered these. I hate the fact that there's no box. I really, really really want that limited edition box but it can only be found on ebay.

Anyway I also bought some manga.

-- xxxHolic volume 1.

-- The Castle of Cagliostro.

Miyazaki + Lupin = must have.

-- Kill Bill 1 and 2.

(Yeah I know they'll probably have a box set for this later but I can't wait. I haven't even watched vol. 2 even)

-- Last Samurai. I'm getting this mostly for the documentary.

This and Kill Bill will drive my total non-anime movie DVD collection to a whopping 3.

-- 24 season 1.

6 disks for 25 dollars. God I wish anime prices were like this. I'm buying this because of how much I hear about it on GAF so I'm guessing it will be good.

Reminds me of Lemurs who bought a bunch of CDs or the guy a few months back who bought like 50 electronic music CDs, most of which were average. Unless the stuff is extremely rare or on a ridiculous sale, you're better to buy them singularly, enjoy and maybe analyze them, the buy something else. You'll likely buy other crap that'll take your interest, and forget about the stuff you bought in bulk

These are the most visually jarring set of DVD covers I can remember seeing in a long time. I can't help wondering if this was done intentionally or if it's a case of terrible design choices.

Kill Bill Vol 1's yellow/black scheme looks great (better thanks to the black border the DVD case provides).

The red/yellow for 2 is terrible. I didn't really like 2, this works out well for me.

Hewlett-Packard PSC 2355 -- an excellent (so far ) printer/scanner/copier/fax; the flip-up LCD screen is awesome, as is the interface on the unit. Lotsa options. I was partial to the layout of the buttons and, believe it or not, the color of the unit-- blue is my favorite color. It's sorta charcoal gray on top and a muted, deeper blue on the body, hard to tell from the pic.


I also just got Verizon DSL a few days ago (1.5 meg download; the 3 meg down package isn't offered in my area yet for some reason, but they said I can upgrade for the same price as soon as it is, which is hopefully soon; coming from my 5-6k/sec dialup, 180-190k/sec has been great )
