Stupid PSP question

When booting a PSP, even if there's a game in, is there a way to make it go to the main menu and not boot the game? Like you can hold A when starting your GameCube to make it go to the menu.

Currently I eject the game prior to starting the PSP, but it annoys me to do that.

Thanks.

There is no other way other than NOT turning off the console and just put it in sleep mode once you are in the XMB screen.

that's funny...I take the games out when I'm done playing them :b

I don't think there is a way to set that...weird as the DS has that option

I just take my game out after I am done playing with it and I have powered down. That is the easiest way for me. Since at work I don't play games, on my PSP, just listen to music, it works out perfectly.

I did read on the IGN boards there was a way to make it go go the menu even if there is a game inserted. I think it had something to do with setting a password for your unit.

I didn't even know you could do that with a GameCube.

before and during the GC bootup, Hold the Z button down on Player 1's controller
before and during the GC bootup, Hold the Z button down on all four controllers

Like TTP say. Just always use sleep mode (quick flip of power swicth).

It will always pick up where you left off, game in or not. So if you power off at the browser, when you turn it on again it will go to browser and **not** load any umd.

If you tap on the home button like a madman while turning the PSP on(after the PSP intro screen goes by) after a few secs it will ask you if you want to go to the home screen or something like that... that's the closest you can come to getting to the home menu when turning the PSP on.

This honestly really irritates me about the PSP --- For it being so pushed as a multimedia device, Sony really dosn't want it to seem that way at boot-up...

opening the hatch just feels so damn broken --- and many of us aren't OCD enough to take our games out when we're done playing..... or we just want that extra storage.

you can turn on the parental-control and enter your password in every time for it to go into Home.

There is no reason to ever shut down the PSP.

Always use sleep mode, and you will always end up excatly where you were.
Where's the issue?

Am I not reading this correctly....I wait for the psp splash screen then hit the home button. I haven't had to "tap it like mad" or anything. Just takes a moment. I never open the game slot.

I've kept my sleep mode on for over a day without battery loss. Are people afraid of that feature? (even if you can't just hit the home button)

Sorry tap like made was an overstatement... after the psp splash page goes away yes tapping the home button will bring up the prompt. It's actually very quickly done.

I thought sleep mode still used some battery life? Is that not the case? If it isn't, then I'll never shut down my PSP.

...what the hell..
Guys, Before you turn your PSP off while you're playing a game, just hit the home button. That will take you to the main menu and when you turn your PSP back on, you'll still be at the Main Menu.

....I must be reading this thread wrong or something

Think of sleep mode battery use like this..

It keeps enough juice to the internal devices(memory basically) to remember the state it was in. It consumes about as much as a battery in your PC motherboard does to keep bios settings, if not less.
You would need to keep it in sleep a loooong ass time to drain the battery.
Never pwr down-- no need.

I might as well list the other button combos for the GCN,

Hold X+Y+Start for 3 seconds to recalibrate the analog stick.
Hold X+B+Start for 3 seconds to reset the GCN.

That sucks Dez... Does it come back if you pause/unpause?
Untold legends has some glitches sometimes when coming out of sleep, but they clear up when you start using menu's/pause.
