Could it actually be a cockroach? They also fly and they have been rampant around Houston this past summer.
 
Anyone familiar with CPUs and transistors? I was watching two videos on youtube on the manufacturing process but neither truly explain who and how the actual transistors are created. Considering they are so damn tiny, how does that whole thing even work?
 
So an older dude on a bike wanted to sell me an "iPad Air 64gb, in the box" for 100 bucks today; when I showed hesitation, he immediately lowered the price to 60, and when I said I don't even have that much on me, he asked "how much do you have on you?"

I said "maybe about 30 bucks" he said ok..."30 bucks"

This guy was gonna sell me an iPad air 64gb for 30 bucks!
I was soo tempted...

What could have possibly gone wrong? (An honest question)

Possible Scenarios:

1) He may be working with the cops? I mean, could you even be arrested or fined for buying goods from the street? Is that illegal? (a'la prostitution?)

2) He may have mugged me

3) Sold me a sealed iPad box full of sand or/and stones?

One of those things I am really curious about now....

Handling stolen goods is illegal in most countries. Unless you do it systematically and regularly you are unlikely to end up in prison, but the police could likely 1) reclaim the stolen goods and 2) hand out a fine. Laws will vary depending where you live.

I'm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and have never been to New Jersey in my life.

I don't know for sure how Facebook determines location is (probably) just basing it on your IP instead of (for instance) nearby radio towers. Not exactly reliable.
 
Trying to find an old video from YouTube.

It was animated. I seem to remember it being not quite stick figures, but not fully drawn characters. It was a funny translation video of sorts, where the translated product ended up being something that would kill you. Everything ended with, "Harakiri....Harakiri...." It was a Japanese female talking. I think it was translating like children's toys or something?

I know, crazy vague...Just thought someone on GAF may know what I'm talking about!
 
Hi. Is there a feature in the site that allows a user to know when he or she has been quoted? It is not a huge issue, but I would hate for a user to quote me, ask a question, and think that I am ignoring him or her when the reality is that I just wasn't aware it had been done.

There used to be an easy way to go it under the Control Panel. The easiest way now is probably just to search for your name and retrieve the results as posts.

Why do accounts on Youtube with 140 views for a video get nuked when the same video can be on a page with 150K views and that page isn't hit with any violations?
 
I want to sell some books to Half Price Books, but I'm a little unsure about when it comes taxes.
Do I need to say on my taxes come April that I sold my books to HPB? And if so, do I have to give them a portion of what money I made?
 
I've got an old-ish (12 years or so) canister vacuum cleaner, a Kenmore 116-28075890. I've just run out of bags for it and I have no idea how to find new ones, and no idea how compatible bags are across different vacuum cleaners. Any idea? I really don't want to have to buy a new vacuum cleaner.

Star wars 4-6 were released first right? And then 1-3?
So were 4-6 called the fourth, fifth and sixth movie, or were they originally the first etc.?

Also: if the new star wars are another set of prequels, will all star wars movies be named accordingly?

i am not a huge sci-fi fan, but I figure i have to watch at least one movie; which would be the best to convince me to watch more?

I'm fairly certain when A New Hope originally came out it was not called Episode 4, however that change did happen well before Episodes 1-3 were released.

The new trilogy is a sequel to Episodes 4-6 so no new naming scheme will be necessary. They'll just be Episodes 7-9.

Are you selling an entire library or something?
 
How is a site like goodreads (lets users make an account, save lists through accesing a database of content, add reviews, etc) coded? I'm not very well versed in coding and I know that there is probably more than one type of coding going on. Basically, I want to know what you would need to know to make a similar type of site.
 
Would there be any way to view and search an archived/cached version of 1UP's old forums? I posted a bunch of short stories there years ago that I'd like to track down, but the site has since removed all forum content.
 
How do you change voices in android using google text to speech? My friend downloaded both male and female UK English voices on her Nexus. I can see how you can change the accent, but not how you can change the sex. I have a nexus as well and I am sure that you could just can not recall how.
