OASIS sold out their upcoming show at NEW YORK’s MADISON SQUARE GARDEN in just over an hour when tickets went on sale on Saturday (February 12).

...

With tickets for the other dates on the jaunt selling fast, Oasis also sold out their show at Philadelphia’s Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing (June 25) over the weekend.

Boom! That's 20,000+ people who will be having a great time on June 22nd. So for all the people hating on them and cracking jokes about how you cant believe they havent broken up or killed each other yet, they've certainly got the last laugh. :D

I'm somewhat of an Oasis fan. Not big, but I like a few of their songs. Doesn't change the fact that I'm still surprised they haven't killed each other though. :p

In a city filled with about 8 million people, finding 20,000 that would pay to see Oasis probably isn't too hard.

That said, every year I celebrate the anniversary of Liam losing a bar fight, along with two teeth.

Err, that's in Dublin and at a time when the band was one of the biggest in the entire world. This is 8 years after the band's last hit record and over 4 months in advance of the show itself -- how can you even begin to compare the two? For comparison's sake, a few years ago oasis sold over 75k tickets in just over an hour and 120,000 in just over a day. All this does is prove that there is still a market for oasis where many people had written them off... and that makes a die-hard fan like me very, very happy. :D

You live in an age when Limp Bizkit can go platinum.

The point?

There's lots of people who will line up for shitty bands.

Yeah I am a big fan of Keane's and got the album back in July after I was given a sticker of theirs leaving the Franz Ferdinand gig in Atlanta I attended. I think they're incredible.

And seriously, whether or not you like oasis is one thing, but I dont see how anyone could call them a shitty band. There's a difference between lack of quality and you not caring for something.

When I first read the title of the thread, I thought it said, "Suck it haters! Oasis sells out Metal Gear Solid in just over an hour".

I was all thinking, "Cool. Oasis likes video ga-....oh."

Hmm, i got tickets to it off stubhub, in section 12. I just got it in the mail, its a plain sized piece of paper with a picture of the actual ticket and some other stuff on it, with a bar code on the bottom. LOL im wondering if its legit or not since i never got tickets before to a concert.

Only because I enjoy singing about Liam being caught in a landslide.

:lol Remember the MTV Unplugged performance? One of them just sat up on the balcony like "fuck this shit." :lol :lol

But they're still boring and shitty. And at this point, what would you consider britpop?

It'll annoy me for life how at one point Oasis was considered better than Blur just because that one album of theirs outsold Blur's. For Christ's sake, Blur's music is timeless.

Actually, I have no idea which album was outsold. Maybe The Great Escape outsold Oasis's tepid effort. I don't even care. I love The Great Escape so much that I wouldn't want to think about anything Oasis put out going against it.

Dude, first of all, Radiohead has nothing on Blur. Second of all, Super Furry Animals sort of kicks all of their asses. Blur's less so, because I like Blur. Oh, Supergrass is sort of excepted too.

I don't really think Radiohead is considered britpop anyway. Is it?

Pablo Honey and The Bends could be considered Britpop, and it destroys anything Blur and Oasis have done. IMO.

And even i am moderately surprised
"Blur vs. Oasis, blah blah blah. Radiohead kicks both of their asses."

and Puressence kill all three of them.
if i wanted to be depressed, i'd ask my grandmother about the war (rather than have radiohead sing about it) ;)

I guess I can't really say I dislike The Bends, but pretty much everything Radiohead does irritates me. I used to like them, though.

And Pablo Honey? Come on, do you like everything the band has done?

I like some Oasis songs. (Songbird is really nice) The fact that they sell out venues isn't really surprising. They've had years to develop a dedicated fanbase and are still one of the biggest bands in the world. One of the best? Totally debatable and subjective. I just can't stand their macho posturing.

No, most of Amnesiac bores me, and HTTT could have been better. Pablo Honey does have a few bad songs, but overall it's a very good britpop album... needless to say it's also less depressing than the rest of Radiohead's work.

But The Bends, My Iron Lung EP, OK Computer, Kid A, and even to an extent the Airbag EP are flawless.

only song of theirs I like is fucking in the bushes, everything else is just a droan version of beatles songs.

Blur were much better

Oasis is a good band, but Blur is one of the greatest bands of all-time.
How can anyone not love the song Tender?

I like Blur a lot and think that Think Tank is one of the better albums of recent note although they're nowhere near as good as oasis in my book. Either way, why isnt it possible to like em both? Just cause the bands had a tense relationship, doesn't mean you as a music fan can't look past it some 10 years or so later.

I still remember the The Face (was it? I don't know, sorry) cover with Liam saying:

"A quick one, just a quick one, that's all I am after" referred to one of Elastica's members (can't remember wether if it was Justine -then Damon's girlfriend- or another one), all this during the Battle of the Bands thing.

PS: My teenager years wouldn't be the same without Definitely Maybe. Their greatest record IMO... And life... boy, Slide Away life is teh sh¡t life¡¡¡¡¡¡

Right, because you see Oasis all over MTV promoting albums and you hear their songs all over radio, right? Oasis barely advertise in the states yet they still sell out concerts across this country, and at a time when they're hardly ever mentioned EXCEPT by popular american artists it's damn impressive that they go and sell out MSG in that amount of time. As for your "ripping off the Beatles" comment, stop regurgitating stale inaccurate criticisms about Oasis that are only used in the United States. If you want to get into a discussion about which songs Oasis "ripped off" of the Beatles, then we can have that, but you haven't listened to Oasis so why even bother, right?. They're derivative like every guitar rock n' roll band out there (EVERY guitar rock n' roll band). Difference is, they admit when they borrow but they're able to make it their own.

As for the Blur vs. Oasis comparisons...that's in the past. They're completely different bands, and the only reason they got into this battle of the bands is because Damon Albarn's crew thought it'd be great for selling records and Albarn pushed it as much as he could (watch the Live Forever documentary).

You haven't listened to "everything else." And judging by your comment you probably haven't listened much to The Beatles either.
:lol

To be honest, I think I at least like every Oasis album. Something about Liam writing songs kinda turned me off of Heathan Chemistry compared to the others though.... Well I guess he wrote Little James toooo... and I didn't like that either! Actually, looking at the Heathen Chemistry track list right now makes me think half the album was shite and the other songs were pretty good :)

Radiohead were never britpop
