Suicide Squad Official Trailer

Yeah, I think people are yet again creating a false equivalence between the internet's feelings towards a particular franchise versus the general public. People will eat up Batman vs. Superman, that thing is going to make crazy bank on the name alone.

I have no doubt that Scuicide Squad will do very well, but better than BVS? Even in the 'States? I just can't see that happening.
Agreed. Believe me, I'm not even excited for BvS anymore. I'm very, very confident it's going to be bloated and silly, and not in a good way. Suicide Squad will no doubt be the superior picture in my eyes, I just don't think that it's gonna touch BvS money. There's too much star power in that one.

Wow, and here I thought if I told Jai Courtney to act his way out of a paper bag, he'd die in the paper bag.

Let's see if Ayer can make him good.

Nope. No movie with a name like Suicide Squad is ever going to out gross a movie with both Batman and Superman in the title. It's just not going to happen.

It's an impossible outcome. You're letting the reception of these movies amongst a bunch of vocal fanboys colour your perception.

BvS is a Batman movie. It's going to do at least $400 million even if it's a massive disappointment. If word of mouth is good, it'll probably end up far and away above that in the domestic market. Suicide Squad isn't touching that kind of gross. It'd be an amazing result if it managed around $300 million.
I would counter that The Joker is the most popular villain in the world, and could easily bring in the mainstream audiences as well as a Batman/Superman team up, especially one that is having somewhat confused marketing.

Yup, was just to say that Joker is probably the most popular villain among casuals and young women love Quinn.

Enjoy having Jai Courtney stuffed down your throats another 5 years bruhs

If his acting is anything like in this trailer, he can stay. Fans would want him to stay. For the first time he actually looks like he enjoys acting.

BvS doesn't have much competition in March, but that is pretty early for 'movie season'. Suicide Squad has Ghostbusters, Ice Age: Collision Course, Star Trek Beyond and fifth Bourne film coming out before it, but really nothing after it. Superman has never played well overseas. Batman does a little better. Curious how it plays out.

Looks very good! Aside from the Joker's design (I still don't find it right) and Harley's lack of a Brooklyn accent, I'm game. Definitely got more excited compared to BvS though I will still give that film a go as well.

Those 2 films, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange and Deadpool. This is really looking to be one of the biggest years for the superhero genre yet. No comment of X-Men: Apocalypse though.

Crazy how things change. When both comic con trailers of this and BvS came out I thought this one looked boring while BvS looked amazing. Now the complete opposite.

Awesome trailer. Good song choice. Everyone knows it but I don't remember hearing it in a trailer before.

He is, but I don't think you understand.

BATMAN

V.

SUPERMAN

EVERYONE knows those two characters. They know the logos, they know the colors associated with them and their respective brands. Parents not only grew up with them, but trust one or both of them to be a safe watch for both them and their children. Not every parent is going to be thrilled to bring their kid to a movie with "Suicide" in the title, but you can bet your ass there might be a few grumpy old men who see both Batman and Superman's name at the movies and say "eh, why not?"

They're just way too popular. Yes, Joker is the most famous comic villain, but Batman and Superman are just iconic. There would be no Marvel in film today without either character. Period.

Trailer looks phenomenal. I do wish they'd have gone whole hog and just made it R though.
It's not rated R? Eh, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. :\
Holy crap. WB get whoever just made that trailer to cut the next Dawn of Justice trailer. That was a work of art.

Who is the villain? That weird black stuff, Trigon or something?
The first BvS trailer was one of the best trailers in years though. The last one just showed far too much. :\

Looks good.

Had anyone posted Margot ass yet?

I wonder where Batman, Joker, and Superman would be right now without Nolan.

I could see Suicide Squad being like Guardians of the Galaxy. Just a good fun summer movie that could gain momentum from little/no expectations and positive word of mouth.

$400m domestic would be a bomb for BvS. Given history of previous Batman/Superman movies it will probably do a 60/40 split domestic vs international. It is going to end around $650m to $725m globally.

I mean, I dunno about Superman, but Nolan's Batman is THE Batman to me. As is his Joker.

I can't speak confidently for Batman in BvS, but Joker looks fun and different in SS.

I think you've spent a bit too much time listening to asinine complaints on GAF. The marketing for BvS isn't confused. They're bombarding people with material and gaining exposure, while hitting on the kind of formula that tends to appeal to populist tendencies. They'll go to a more intensive stage in a few weeks time. It's pretty straightforward stuff, and it works.

BvS is likely to make about 60-70% of Suicide Squad's entire potential gross in its opening weekend.

Fantastic. I knew this one was going to be good. This is the one movie that gives me hope that the DCCU won't be complete garbage. Cause after how terrible MoS was and how BvS looks like more of the same, I was really starting to worry.

He's not really wrong that the film is aping the successful "un-heroic band of misfits must save the day from a greater evil" GOTG outline, but I think there's room for two comic book film like this, especially when this one isn't starring anti-heroes but straight up villains forced into doing good.

Suicide Squad is aping nothing from GotG. it came first, the concept of misfits coming together is not new at all, GotG is not the end-all be-all of team-up movies.

Was Common that freaky thing in the subway?

that looks like the Tattoo Man. a Green Lantern enemy.

Eh, I'd say BvS has a bit of a confused marketing atm. The first few trailers were selling a very dark movie with a clear focus on the two characters' conflict, now we're getting trailers where they're friends, Wonder Woman is beside them, we got like 3 potential villains, etc.

That's not to say people won't see this movie, cuz they will. It'll do crazy numbers. It's just a bit disheartening that it seems like the movie will have very little focus.

Just from what I've seen from the trailers anyway. Who knows how it'll be. I'm willing to bet I won't go crazy over it though.

Both are going to be huge. I'll say it again, when BvS delivers, it might help bring Suicide Squad across the billion mark worldwide.

As for the complaints, it's fine. BvS has a lot on its plate while Suicide Squad can just cut loose and be fun. Together they bring two very different styles to the universe, establishing heroes and villains.

Friend Verendus, maybe BvS will beat it, but I can guarantee you the bolded won't be happening. I'd be willing to take an avatar bet on that.

  • Katana is being promoted quite a bit as one of the main female heroes of DC.
My concern is that might be a fake promotion* to hype her Suicide Squad role up thus helping that shock kill.

*just like they hyped Katana being in that DC Super Hero Girl line and then it released and every promoted character got toys... besides Katana.

I wonder what WB is gonna think if Suicide Squad outgrosses BvS (domestically). It's honestly not an unlikely outcome given the difference in reception between the two film's marketing so far, and considering the first SS trailer got more views on youtube.

I doubt it will happen. BvS feature the 2 biggest stars of DC and SS feature a bunch of unknown characters.

Its interesting that the DC movie with the most hype now is the one closest to the Marvel films, where everyone isn't so uptight and serious. SS certainly seems like everyone is having fun.

same, Leto the god proving us all wrong, hes ready

consider me SHOOK x intrigued at his Joker
His tattoos are still stupid as hell though. There is no way he doesn't crush it as the Joker, he's too good of an actor not to.

If BvS has a historic March, that would put it around $150m to $160m on opening weekend. So you expect Suicide Squad to make $220m to $260m global or domestic?

You guys just watch, they're holding out on Slipknot in hopes that we forget about him, then BOOM. He's actually either the main villain or the one who saves everybody.

For real though, he's probably going to get his head blown off by Waller as an example.

Even if the movie sucks, at least we got this fantastic trailer.

Although it could be pretty good, which would be great too.

What is that weird robotic thing they're fighting?

This film is not close to marvel's family friendly tone at all. It looks like it has dark humor, I don't know why people bring up Marvel. This looks very different from any superhero stuff, you can say it looks similar in setup to GoTG but that movie looked clean and family friendly even if it involved a bunch of misfits like this one does. This film looks dirty and grungier.
