I see no issue with Precure impressions/discussion of any intensity in the central anime thread. For example, I definitely don't care for MLP:FiM, but I'm never bothered when posters share impressions on that here. Why should a Precure OT be rushed? I don't care one way or the other on that front, but that doesn't call for it to be "chased" out.

and probably Genshiken for some episodes at least.

I'm sensing a pattern here. I guess this is as violent as you can get in this kind of show without actually showing the girls punching and kicking each other... at least until Precure.

A few thoughts on the heretical notion that Precure should be spun off into a separate OT:
- If it weren't for all the Precure love in this thread, I would probably have never got into the series. This thought scares me and makes me cry myself to sleep at night.
- I'm not really a fan of separate anime OTs in general, they just serve to fragment the AnimeGAF experience and make it more of a pain to follow. I guess they serve a purpose for people who are only interested in that series and aren't hardcore enough to venture into the main anime thread, but I daresay anyone watching Precure is far enough down the rabbit hole that that's not going to be an issue.
- Precure is both a popular current running series (and will doubtless be current for the foreseeable future) and a popular backlog series. As current series discussion is the main purpose of this thread, separating that part of the discussion out into a different thread would be silly. And if we're having the current discussion in here, better to keep the backlog discussion in here too for simplicity's sake.
tl;dr Without Precure, AnimeGAF is nothing! You will bow to your Precure overlords!

Why a summer thread if the summer season is like 200 weeks away?
well, and that TV airing time in Japan is useless to most of us here, nothing about official streaming schedule or anything? I imagine most things aren't announced yet though, which makes it looks like it's too soon for this thread.

Nothing's been given a time for streaming out of JPN, and thus far only one anime has been picked up for simulcast streaming in regions that Aniplex of America serves (MONOGATARI SERIES SECOND SEASON)
I pretty much agree with all of the points, although I watched Heartcatch and part of Smile before I signed up here.
Precure is an addiction...

This pretty much gets at the hear of the whole main thread/splinter threads quandary. Having all the current seasons shows and any backlog shows that people care to review in a single thread plus news, speculation and everything else means that stuff tends to get lost in the 'churn'.
However, the fact that all this happens within a single thread means that people are unwittingly exposed to backlog titles that they weren't aware of but might like, such as: Utena, Sailor Moon (Various), Precure (Various), Gunslinger Girl, Doremi (Come on people, get watching it) which is certainly a good thing because an individual thread on some of these shows would get buried instantly.
However, I don't object to the notion of individual threads because they are a far better place for condensed, in-depth discussion about a specific series and they bring that title to the attention of the rest of the forum. So on balance they do their job quite well.
Yeah. My fishing trip yesterday showed well and fully that it is indeed summer.

oh god, only four pages and the precure resentment is already at critical mass. I'm genuinely sorry for ever introducing the thread to this shit; it was never my intent for it to dominate the percentage of thread content that it now does, and it saddens me that it's now in the same league as uguuuu gifspam and smutgaf crap in terms of things that make the thread an annoying experience for others. I'm really, really, really sorry. I only ever wanted to contribute positively here, and yet I continually encouraged something terrible.

Well, that mystery about Chitanda's uncle was resolved...rather quickly. Houtarou explained what happened and it seemed to fit. The only question left is why what he said made Chitanda cry, and I guess that could be chalked up to him being bitter about it and her seeing a side of her uncle that she never saw before. Or she discovered for the first time that life is a cruel and unfair mistress. But I suppose if they're going to continue on with that, it's probably something else.
Maybe if they put this level of effort and research and thought into what happened to her uncle in India, they might be able to figure it out (he's almost certainly dead, but closure and all that). I don't think most people consider discussing a particular franchise to be "shitting up the thread". It's just a popular series of works that people like to discuss.

I think hating yourself over this is unwarranted. The real problem here is people complaining about Smuttcrap precurecrap, moecrap or whatever. If they don't like a certain kind of show or discussion and it doesn't break the ToS or the premise of the thread then they can simply ignore it. If it's the former PM a mod. By posting about it they are not only propagating that thing they hate but they shit up the thread.
tl;dr: Post PreCure as you will. The people shitting the thread with hate are the ones at fault. It really is no different from posting about any other major franchise here that is considered kosher and it really only annoys a vocal minority of people.
No one's talking shit about it, they're just acknowledging its growing fanbase.
