Zetsuen no Tempest 08
Hmm I'm growing less and less fond of the storytelling, writing and pacing. This episode there's like a 10min standoff which could've been condensed to a minute or two if the characters just said their dialog already.
A lot of the 'twists' are rather predictable, certainly nothing that feels clever in any way. Like of course something weird is going on with Hakaze and Mahiro's sister. There's so much downtime that you can't help but think about all kinds of possibilities anyways.
I still can't help to care about anyone but Aika who'll surely live to see the day again. I mean when you're dealing with this kind of a magic system (that includes healing as well!) they can explain just about everything that happens easily.
At some time in this episode Hario says s.th. along the lines of "I don't care about this world" once again. And yeh, well me neither. Those mage trees, mages and military make me yawn.
As of now I'm only really looking forward to more character interaction, especially if Aika and Hakaze appear in person eventually? Who knows, some relationship drama sounds more interesting than their world changing plotline.
Also, what's up with your literature (Hamlet) references? Like really? It's cringe worthy at times.
The twist that I think is particularly clever doesn't happen till the second half of the show. The early twists are easily predictable. Especially since you're thinking about them the whole time. And especially when it concerns Hakaze.
Also get it right. They're mostly "The Tempest" references. Not Hamlet. Although I think they make one or two Hamlet/Macbeth references.
And yes, this particular series of episodes has a long stand-off that I wasn't too fond of either.
