It has 6 DVDs, so it'll be 12/13. The only 10 episode show this season is Illya 2wei, as far as I know.

Damn. That was a pretty good episode. Season 2 has been pretty good so far. For this episode I also watched the singing parts in Japanese. I gotta say, the English version was adapted well.

So I decided to finally watch Sword Art Online due to all the hype around it. I'm in S1E8, and I don't get it. Interesting things only happen once every 2-3 episodes, there is no sense of urgency to the plot and the characters are very... "vanilla"? The "stuck in a MMO" premise isn't being expanded upon a lot either, mostly it plays out like a standard fantasy setting.
Am I doing it wrong? Does it get better?

You did wrong by watching SAO in the first place. It's not a good show and the "hype' around it is horribly misplaced.

The series does have a strong start but that's it afterwards. Your milage just varies from then on until the first part ends. Part 2 is unliked by almost everyone.

Dude just watch Log Horizon a much better stuck in a MMO premise. It's pretty much a better version of SAO. That deals with world building, politics, and character development in a nice fashion.
I'm afraid boys. I just played 18 holes of golf, they should make a good golf anime. I doubt it's possibly.
The sibling relationship is alright compared to Suguha. There are some weird things later on that if you can ignore as shameless fanservice you will love the show. Aka beautiful things.

Yeah it didn't have that cause it took a different route. The players took advantage of the situation by developing their life's in the MMO, without having that sense of urgency. Basically about their daily life in the MMO and rebuilding the way they live. Opposite of what SAO focused on. But still it has that premise whether the atmosphere doesn't contain that sense of urgency.

I'm sure I'm late, but it feels like Terror in Resonance has become way more Fukishima-ish in the last episode. Although I suppose corrupt bureaucrats wanting to protect their own turf is a universal constant.

Everything is alright compared to Suguha. My favorite aspect of the show is easily the art. My eyes are super happy about that component.

I finally watched something about Ginga Eyu- er, Legend of the Galactic Heroes: My Conquest is the Sea of Stars , which should be the prequel to the actual 110 episodes series. I have to start that someday.
anyway, that movie was great. I wanted to complain about a couple of things in the last battle but whatever, I'm not going to. I'm sure Urobuchi could learn something from the series.

the hype is probably there for the people that like that kind of trash. "show is awful but I want more" - or something. otherwise, no idea.
