First we get some background info on how the shopping mall started in the firstplace, them more hijinks with Sassho and Arumi. This tine around Arumi is taking most of the beating while Sasshi acts like an asshole..

Still fun, but I'm starting to feel bad for Arumi here...

Gundam Build Fighters: GM's Counterattack:

I suppose the Gundam Mafia was a loose end that might of needed dealing with and dear god I missed this and I am reminded of my renewed hatred towards the season of TRY because they just never fucking smiled this season could.

Gunpla Mafia fighters OAV : General merchandises counter attack.
Can i get a season 3 of build fighting with the s1 cast. The first 20 mins was basically an excuse for mecha porn and s1 cast fan service and im ok with this right down to the guitar riffs of the third meijin kawaguchi's theme. Niels weeberson's new gunpla is pretty rad, not sure the suit its based off of, but its cool, and unique looking and definitely fits his motif. felini's new gunpla also has some new tricks which were neat. Mao's jobbing before the final sequence was pretty funny, but we didn't get to see much of what his new GX vairent can do other than 4 satellite beam cannons. And then the last 10 mins begin, punches you in the gut and shows you just how much better s1 was than try, in both tone and cast; as a promise from the end of s1 is fulfilled. i only wish the ending sequence was longer. but they have to save something for season 3 i guess.

Don't know if it was worth driving all the way to Philly during rush hour, but it was a really good movie.

Certainly an in the moment in that place sort of movie, having very little judgment on anything itself. The transition from idyllic life with specter of war to war time chaos was done really well. Knowledge of history actually adds to the tension, since you know the rough date in which certain things happen. Despite the subject matter the movie manages a great balance between the darkness of the events surrounding them and the good times people have, which is greatly helped by the fact that this movie is very good at comedy. Visually, the background reminds me of watercolor painting, and the character designs are simple, but charming, albeit it makes some people look younger than they are. Some of the greatest moments involve reimagining the scenes as some of Suzu's artistic imagination.

I do want to comment on the apoliticalness of the movie. So far from what I have seen in anime in terms of Japanese involvement in WWII, they always seem to avoid what Japan was doing during the time period. It is not the point of this movie, and I realize it is completely unfair to this movie, but I wish depictions weren't this lopsided in the extreme when it comes to the anime medium. That said, this movie does seem to sneak a few moments in terms of the dark side of Japanese fascism. The military police wasn't exactly depicted in a positive side, and the whole war is shown to be futile in the end. Also, that was a Korean flag post break up with Qing dynasty they put there being raised!

It's a shame this was limited release, and so few theaters screened this movie.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
I have no idea why there are so many people who like the Love Master guy in Tzurezure. He's annoying and never really has any real impact on any particular plot line. He just does unfunny anime cliches for full segments that don't go anywhere.

It was alright.

This show had a bit of everything in it, from '70 shojo faces to mecha action. Apart from a couple episodes in the middle (14-15, 15 specifically with the last part of the episode) I had a lot of fun following this story, as predictable as it was.
Akko was a riot and I really loved her voice acting, pardon, her dub, as I watched the Italian version. Pretty good stuff.
Doing the Netflix trial was worth it just for this.

Depicting Mishiro in shadows so often is a rather glaring method of expressing her antagonistic bent. It looks like this is supposed to represent Mishiro's failed attempt at recycling Kaede by discarding her work, on account of the fact that it's empty. The disagreement between the two felt fabricated for the sake of the narrative. Mishiro yields too easily, leading me to question her motives. I imagine the lack of irrevocable damage will serve to absolve her after the inevitable change of heart. Anyway, this episode had exceptional sound design, specifically the integration of the score. Also, picturing an animated Miku fervently mewing at the stoic Mishiro was fun.

While not as immediately impressionable as the previous title sequence, the new one illustrates its themes nicely. A sentimental spirit embodies the song's still distinctively cheerful sound, especially in the uplifting chorus. Including motifs is appreciated, but the clock imagery has long since been ran into the ground. I can't derive anything significant from it beyond its usual temporal interpretations, while its connection to Cinderella is a given. The transitions were not as dynamic as before—along with the layouts of scenes being weaker overall—but they were well synced to the music. Absence of the producer from the title sequence was unexpected, but for now I'll assume he's excluded in order to not muddle its personal nature.

Rankings: 1. Uzuki; 2. Mika; 3. Rin; 4. Miku; 5. Anastasia; 6. Ranko; 7. Kirari; 8. Mio; 9. Rika; 10. Minami▲; 11. Riina; 12. Anzu▼

Anyone here ever been to an Animate Cafe that needs a reservation? The Utena one didn't need any, so I thought the new Pripara one would be the same; but when I looked it up, it said I needed to reserve a spot. Of course, it's not as simple as just reserving it; I have to apply for a lottery that might give me a spot if I'm lucky. So, I now have around six applications going for different days.

I'm also going to try to go early tomorrow morning to see if I can get a last minute spot for later that day. Think that will work?

Probably not, but you could try checking their twitter. I think they usually post if there's free space:

It's opening weekend of the pripara one though, so I'd think all the hardcore fans who has booked will show up :p

Ah, I see. I really wish I knew it was reservation only earlier, then I could have applied...

The soonest I could possibly get in now (my earliest reservation) is all the way on September 16th. :/ I'll find out in around five days if I managed to get in on any of my first four applications. Hopefully at least one will work out.

I'm kind of tempted to show up early anyway in case a spot opened up. I need to head to Ikebukuro tomorrow anyway, so I feel like I might as well.

Well, they'll only open up if somebody actually calls to tell that they're not coming, but I guess it can't hurt to check if you're already going :p

Fingers crossed!

I guess I'm a bit surprised by how popular Pripara must be among the Animate audience. I've only seen a handful of merchandise for it, so I assumed that most of its fans were its target audience (kids). Maybe it's actually more popular with anime fans in Japan than I thought.

Why on earth should we care if Akko can get all seven words to meet Chariot when she has already done so in every single episode? Dramatic irony doesn't really work very well when it's this extended and inconsequential.

It continues to be the case that the show is infinitely better when it spends as little time with Akko, Sucy and Lotte as possible. I don't wish to sound like one of those ra-ra-episodic-sucks people but anything involving Diana, Croix and/or Ursula is much more interesting than "let's go visit Lotte's parents who turn into horribly infectious fungus"; the more so because this heavily contrived and somewhat horrifying scenario only exists to teach Akko something she could have just been told except for narrative convenience.

Also 15 was a good episode, if purely for the action sequence.

IDK why but I laughed super hard at this part:

Also at the part where the Student Council prez shows up outta no where and jumps off the top of like 2-3 story stairs in flip-flops. I hope this show is at least 2-cour and not LN advertising.

Because it matters in ways you cannot begin to imagine.

The somewhat artificial quality of the drama or the disagreement you highlight is largely due to the show's tendency to portray idols as little more than personalities (personality is definitely a quality that art tends to posess) and less as a dynamic field of work i.e. it doesn't actually get into the nitty gritty details of idol work to highlight its objective qualities, which is something I'm fine with considering what it achieves. The director's role depicts a necessity to survive at one level and prosper at another, this sometimes doesn't align with an artist's sensibilities (in an organization) to various degrees. In Kaede's case, she straight up rejects it. What I liked about this is the more art vs business shift in narrative that tackles interesting conflicts and how it affects artists(or in this case, Idols).

While not as immediately impressionable as the previous title sequence, the new one illustrates its themes nicely. A sentimental spirit embodies the song's still distinctively cheerful sound, especially in the uplifting chorus. I haven't a more nuanced take on the openings but the first OP chimes in well with the cast and the overall vibe of the show but the second OP is more fitting for its narrative shift.

Ah, welcome back, season one goodness, even if it was a short stay. Seeing Sei use Reiji's trademark fire-from-the-hip Beam Saber trick was just the best.

Roberto just proves the prophecies are bollocks and Hiraga reveals the dead dude was infected with a monkey virus that turned his body into rubber.

Father Julia is still alive tho', and who knows what or who he was keeping in that basement!

So where does this fit on the goodness scale of Death Note, is it as least good as the L Only movie, or is it as epic good as the TV Live Action Drama adaptation?

it's probably the worst Death Note thing I've seen and I've seen the anime, the original live action movies, and the L-only movie. Haven't seen the drama yet though nor the most recent jp movie though.
