Restaurant to Another World Episode 2

i had some doubts with the first episode, but seeing stories of how people found the restaurant and fell in love with the food is pure fun.

Consider, for instance, Momoka's bullet stopping tit-frying pan. You may remember this as the nearly as impossible and stupid aspect of the moment where the writers just unkilled Tusk. Momoka does in fact pocket the frying pan earlier in that episode, but who cares? It was still fucking stupid, manipulative and egregiously terrible. That it became the end-note punchline to an exceptionally unjustifiable mountain of three million percent bullshit only amplifies the point.

Having proven, I hope, beyond any shadow of a doubt that Cross Ange's plot is terrible and FUCK YOU to those of you who are even now thinking I shouldn't be ‘taking it so seriously',

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

So he both acknowledges the plot is ridiculously stupid but also implies we should take it seriously.

Edit: There's a LOT wrong with the review.

2nd Edit:
Why any human being would ever willingly choose to make their show look like Gundam SEED can only be explained with dollar signs.
Come on man. Corvo is better than this. I hate Seed and Hirai but he's better than this level of analysis.

https://twitter.com/Crunchyroll/status/884548114735955969

A new week means new streaming announcements at Crunchyroll, and the first (but not the last of the day) is New Game!!, which is the second season of the anime based on the manga by Shotaro Tokuno about a group of young ladies working as game developers.

NEW GAME!! begins streaming tomorrow, Tuesday 7/11, at 7am PT and will be available to members worldwide except Asia.

That was a very weird episodic 2 episode arc that feels completely unrelated to anything. At least I got to listen to Taiga's English VA playing the role of the young sexually harassed detective assistant...

It's less about viewers taking the show seriously and more the writers wanting people to take the show seriously.

Honestly I brought up Cross Ange again because I just got to the chapter in Super Robot Wars V where those characters show up and it reawakened my hatred of that show's existence.

Fucking finally

Now this just needs to be a major step up from S1 and become Shirobako with video games to make up for Crunchyroll's lackluster lineup
It won't

No, please DO NOT make it Shirobaka...

Let it stand alone as a fun show, lol.

Can't wait!

Does it really matter whether the staff wanted you to ironically watch a show or not? Would it matter if staff from Blood-C said that they were going for a serious tone? I guess it might matter so much as judging the skill or intellect of the staff making the show but it wouldn't have an impact on the quality of the work by itself.

...And just when I was whining about there being no good or trash shows on CR this season, cue... whatever this is supposed to be. It could've been an okay-ish girl band show where the girls actually play their instruments for a change, but then again the next episode's title is "A desire to do it together", so I guess this show's going to take that route. <_____________________________<

This also makes me think there must actually be some pedophile bait show timeslot that channels are required by law to have, and I guess I'd rather believe that than the alternate hypothesis that these shows sell well enough to warrant publishers to look for more stuff like this to put out each season.

Wakfu Season 2: Le filler! C'est la vie non?

I'm not going to be as wordy about the animation side as my first season review because at this point I've said what has to be said about how impressive it is that the show is animated in flash and can look like this. As far as visual fidelity goes compared to the first season, it was most definitely an improvement. Characters didn't look as plain as they did in season 1, and backgrounds/the setting also had a marginable improvement resulting in a much better looking show. Character models being the clear winner, don't know if they did more shading but it was much more appealing to the eye.

The battles were much flashier in this season (when there were any, but I'll get to that in a bit) that showcase that Studio Ankama is leading the charge on French animation. I cannot stress enough just how awe-struck I was with the whole assault on the island sequence, a million lasers flying everywhere, ground troop mechas fighting monsters, and of course our titular heroes each battling their own respective enemy. Oof. My eyes orgasmed.

Now that I've gotten the visuals praise out of the way, let's go over how disappointed I was with the second season's direction and plot and maybe where I will differ from its target audience of kids and young teens. The filler. I can see the appeal from a young child's point of view to have our cast go through wacky adventures that have little to do with the plot with the excuse that they are on their way to their destination.

But this is too much for me.

How is it that you start the show so positively with Evangelyne's amazing arc of
rescuing Percedal and fighting the horrible rogue
to returning and then leaving for their mission... to the rest of the show? No seriously. As soon as the crew leaves for their adventure it might as well be filler except that they happen to meet a big side character on their way there.

We have Yugo and crew finding a town or person, aiding them for a whole episode, and then leaving to never be seen again. Yes this is exactly what episodic television does, but if you're going to have small arcs dealing with the plot, only to then introduce big players give a TON of exposition and background on Yugo's people, give them a mission and then.... spend the rest of the show having happy go lucky adventures? This bothers me. A comedic break here and there? Sure, go nuts. But the entirety of the show going over the 20s be almost 97% this? Ugh.

Some episodes had a purpose. You are given more information on the Shushus. Information you largely already got from the opening arc, but still that other small arc dealing with them? It had a purpose in the long run. Introducing
Eva's sister
? Definitely needed, but could have been cut down exponentially. The issue is clear: their main plot for the season didn't have much meat to it how they had written it, so they had to sprinkle very VERY small portions of advancing the plot in all of these episodes. The show was easily 70% fat and 30% meat when you cut it down.

Hell, at one point in the show we have Eva outright being the voice of myself as a viewer and telling Yugo they need to cut the shit and focus on the mission because they are getting way too distracted doing good deeds everywhere, the show probably not being as self aware as I'm giving it credit, only to immediately return to throwaway episodes. Did I mention they once again had a 3 fucking parter soccer episode? It was better than the first season's, and I guess ultimately it was fun and I laughed but still completely unneccesary when you don't need a throwaway gag episode when every other one has been this.

A crime I almost find unforgivable with all of the above? They introduce this amazing villain/antagonist in Eva's opening arc that they then
completely throw away in another of the arcs, don't bring back until the ending fucking arc, and then proceed to once again leave him in the background
.

You can't really skip the grand majority of these episodes because we do have some character development in them, largely unnecessary drama between Groovy and Eva but character development nonetheless. Add to it characters being introduced and the brief snippets of overarching plot moving along here and there, and you wouldn't really be able to tell what is worth skipping or not.

I want to be much more negative on the season but god damn if I didn't love the opening and ending arcs. The ending arc is nothing but episode after episode of amazing fucking shit that almost entirely carries the rest of the show over how great it is. Yugo and Groovy take center stage in it and my god it was awesome.

I haven't talked much of the season's main villain and that's because frankly you don't know who it is
until the twist
. Oh and this doesn't happen until near the end of the show. Was he a decent villain? Yeah. He was also a villain whose relationship and stakes are much more in line with Yugo than Nox. But he is given almost no time to develop his reasons or for me to care about him. All he really gave me was the spectacular battles.

Ok let's break it down. I'll give the opening arc an 8.5/10, the final arc a 9/10, and the rest of the show.... hmmm.. probably a 6/10 it was just only slightly above mediocre. Between all of it if I had to be absolutely fair, this might mean the second season only gets a 7/10 from me. The highs were high, but the lows were low. Funny, if the show had just been the more story centric arcs it would have blown season 1 out of the water.

I am most definitely interested in watching season 3, and from what I hear it'll be a shorter episode count which should hopefully mean it will be LARGELY story focused like a long movie. I am loving the characters, action and the personal/main plots so that's enough to keep watching.

All I have left until I catch up (and move on to watching Dofus) is the specials/OVAs that take place 5-6 years later. They can't possibly have wacky adventures in a plot focused special so I should love this.

PS.

I should have heeded warnings over how bad the english dub is, but at the same time I like to do other things as I watch tv, and given the option to do so and understanding dialogue without having to read subs is a plus. At first I thought it was fine, but as soon as more voices started kicking in you can tell it isn't good. But I was in too deep lol. If given the option and you want the best experience, watch this in French (french is a VA option in netflix).

And to end my post, best girl

Elegant Yokai Apartment Life- 02

It was alright. Showed more of the jolly, family friendly side of the people (and ghosts) living in the mansion. MC is still taking in all that is going on around him, but is gradually getting used to the presence of of the other-worldly.

Will watch for a couple more episodes.

Restaurant to Another World- 02

This reminded me of that one episode of Space Dandy where they traveled in some other dimension to find a ramen shop, it even had an old man making the food.I should watch Space Dandy again...

Oh, and this had some food being eaten by people that found their way to the restaurant. They apparently liked it. That's it.

Koi to Uso- 02

Introducing your future wife with the girl you're in love with. What could possibly go wrong... *thinking emoji*

Spider-Man Homecoming

More like Spider-Man property damage.

Better then the last three (Jesus) movies but it's a weirdly put together movie. Marvel still excels at making 6/10 - 8/10 movies every couple of months so I don't have to read comic books that cost more then the movie ticket so

I really liked season 2 but yeah, the filler sucked. If you haven't watched the OVAs after season 2 yet you need to, they're required viewing for season 3 and continue straight after s2. The battles are also incredible. Also, you'll be happy to hear that season 3 isn't supposed to have any filler at all.

Isekai Shokudou 2

This show keeps this up and it'll be my AOTS. Food porn with very little porn (in fact only one character so far) who knew!

In this episode we meet Not-Lara Croft who kills poor innocent gobbis (seriously anime what is your hard on for killing these poor creatures D': ) and finds herself to the restaurant. Then we meet another guy who is REALLY. REALLY. Into fried shrimp. And they were both a delight.

I love the format of the show. It's simple yet enjoyable. Person enters restaurant. Nice chef-daddy serves them delicious food. They all but orgasm and praise the gods. They keep coming back. No drama. Just good ol slice of life (in a fantasy setting).

For the story-telling portion of the episode it isn't anything new when they do stills with narration, but I couldn't help but giggle at the fact that what would have been the more action packed portion of the episode got thrusted to a still lol.

So I've been told and yeah. Plan on watching the OVAs later today. It's just packaged as one movie in Netflix (?) so it'll be fun. And new season comes out September this year from what the latest trailer said, so looking forward to that.

Will watch Dofus after I finish the OVAs. Both the tv series and the films.

Holy god that was awful. I recall when I was a teen always feeling Trigun was my less preferred series compared to Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star, which I kinda saw the three as a pseudo-set of outlaw type shows, but man I forgot that it had some reeeeaaal clunkers.

Still waiting for Trigun Maximum to be adapted.

This show is so stupid, but in such a damn good way. Poor Harima is a complete unlucky fuck up, but that works in our favor... Your love will never be realized buddy...

Plus there's the face that he can do so much better than her
and actually does =p

It feels like A Centaur's Life is trying to say something beyond its cute premise, with all the talk about race and equality and special laws and secret police. I'm interested in seeing where it goes with that.

But see, this would have even worse implications as it would mean the government was explicitly seeking pedo pandering, as we haven't heard of a string of arrests yet.

Bless sparring Marie in the OP. Pretty good episode too, I'm a sucker for Smyphogear's over the top melodrama. Pirate outfit Finé in that short flashback was pretty good too.

also is adam literally just gonna be the adam lmao, considering everybody else is named after historical figures
