Having seen it recently, too, I would consider it more of a really drawn out Evangelion episode rather than a film, with its angel of the week being Godzilla.

Unfortunately, whereas the art direction and visuals of Evangelion are just so damn good and often downright iconic, scenes involving Godzilla often just look a tad awkward. And I say that expecting way worse CG than what was delivered.

Hell, even all those meetings, where live action seems to be a better fit than animation, didn't seem much stronger here.
I admit I laughed when I first saw Godzilla because of how naff he looked. lol
That and the "American" girl and the terrible English teacher actors they got for the other Americans didn't help either.
You could also argue that the Rebuild movies are basically extended episodes of Eva as well. :p

But the experience just had the "energy" of Eva. The way the meetings were edited together, to the military tech porn, to the philosophical wankery that might as well have been about instrumentality. It just felt so familiar to the point where I could totally understand the hype. Hell, even that "America" girl was basically a Misato-expy.

I almost wish he'd make Eva 4.0 a live action film just to fuck with everyone. lol

On the contrary, having the opportunity of working on such an outside project in Mr. Anno's case actually did recharge his energies (so to speak, and based on feelings he has expressed before) for the draining prospect that is working on the following Rebuild of Evangelion entries. It actually seems to have helped him cope with a return to the arduous and repetitive task of revisiting the same themes over and over just to try fulfilling everyone's unrealistic expectations that have been built-up for years! :p
I almost feel like doing this movie probably allows him to be free of Eva forever and just move on with his life. The movie is Eva in all but name after all.

He could branch out and do a romcom or Jane Austen adaptation but with this exact type of filmmaking. It'd be amazing to watch. lol

Elizabeth Bennet sees Mr. Darcy across the room.

The moment where Sengoku ripped off Shizuku's dress, exposing her bare breasts, is the moment where I decided I couldn't stand this show any longer.

Please watch Valerian its so good (also his actor is really hot)

I love how Setagawa is such a great friend and non judgmental that he is alright with helping Kensuke and Hasekura get together.

Kensuke and Hasekura are such a great pairing, one of my favorite types in the genre.

I also like how scenes when they cut away to some random piece of scenary and have like fence rattling and emotinal sounds playing that it makes something like a simple kiss sound way more lewd than it would if they just showed it.

Lol @ Shoto showing up, dude is becoming like Sasuke, alway hogging that main character spotlight.
Not a bad thing though, anyways this arc has been damn good so far.

Just watched the first episode of The Reflection. It's definitely an interesting start, and the style is fantastic! If I have any complaints, it's with the action; it feels a little too slow, and a bit limp. I feel like they could be doing more to make the fights more engaging and exciting to watch. I do like that there's some quiet moments interspersed to give the show room to breathe and all, but I still think the fight scenes could be handled better. Anyway, I still found it to be a strong start overall. Looking forward to what's next!

if they want the fights to feel interesting, all they really need is some dialogue or banter in between. Maybe some music that doesn't make it seem like an arthouse piece.

Hitorijime My Hero Episode 3

You ever see something so awful you hate yourself for looking at it? Jesus fucking christ ban whoever wrote this shit from ever writing again. I was hoping maybe the last episode would be the full extent of how bad this trite gets but nope.

*character continues to act abusively and manipulatively*
*One in bad position goes for help and advice*
"Actually it's your fault he is like that, you deal with it."
"Wow why are you being so indecisive with him"

like the fuck. You have to be doing this on purpose. This show could have actually been real cute if it wasn't for the fucked up things that they just hand wave away. Most BL continues to be shit and dropped like the piece of shit it is.

Like the show yet I also don't feel like anything other than bits with Mitama & her sisters is done correctly. as everything else has an inescapable feeling of being just a little bit off.

Stray thought: Princess Principal uses "spies" in the same way Kado uses "negotiator".

Heh. Fun thought, but I don't think it's the same. The spy genre has a long tradition of the action/spy/adventure style, from James Bond to Bourne to Mission Impossible. This is for now another 'spies' of the same type.

And they have done alraedy more spy-like things like recovering enemy intel or helping a defector than Kado ever did as 'negotiator'.

Yeah the girls do a lot of spy film things but they way they use the word, it could be replaced with "idol" and spliced into Symphogear and it wouldn't feel out of place. It's just a catchall for "the privileged and special Other".

Understand me: more than defending Princess Principal, I was attacking Kado. I really expected more interesting negotiations in a series with the word Negotiator in the title. Alas, it couldn't be. :/

His negotiation levels are off the charts!

RPO is the Smartphone Iskekai of Western Isekai level literature.

Rothfuss is actually creative, his sins are different from Cline's.

You know what impresses me about the airships in Princess Principal? You can use a machine gun while inside and not make a dent on the internal armor, much less pierce it.

Damn that's some materials tech.

Eccentric Family Episode 7

Yajiro you fucked up real bad.

Damn no wonder you ended up as a sulking frog. Music was really great in this episode.

Kakegurui ep.4
Oh man, they didn't finish the gamble in one episode. Hopefully, rapest goes down hard in the next episode since he really is a spobeless douce.

Also, the Student Coucil members are all fucking crazy...

Kakegurui Episode 4

This show continues to be one of the most entertaining ones of the season. Love how absolutely insane everyone is. Oddly enough the thing this show reminds me the most of is Danganronpa.

Welcome to the Ballroom 3

There was a particular scene in the first half of the episode that made me think "Yup, Hosanna probably dropped this show now" so I scan the thread a bit for some Ballroom impressions and lo and behold:

I hate being right sometimes.

Not going to try and dissuade you or anything but if you stopped watching then and there then you missed out on some nice bits of dancing sakuga later on, although the show still relies a bit too much on stills for my liking.
