Is Konosuba a good show?

Or is it just a guilty pleasure type of show lol.

Season 1 is hit and miss with its comedy until the last three episodes or so.

Season 2 apparently knocks it out of the park all the way through. I've only seen the first three episodes for that and they've been great.

Considering that God Eater series director Takayuki Hirao scripted and storyboarded every episode, making the protagonist a new character who wasn't in any of the games, I'd say they could have made more of an effort.

Ufotable's president Hikaru Kondo has personally taken over scriptwriting duties on the studio's recent game adaptations, writing all of Zestiria and now apparently all of Katsugeki Touken Ranbu. Perhaps he's not so great at writing.

Hey question answered hahaha.

Since you were similar to me on season 1, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the rest of season 2.

I always feel weird talking about KonoSuba because I feel I must be the only person who didn't find the second season as funny as the first. I put it down after the first three episodes because I was so disappointed. I'll revisit it eventually, but I was not impressed after loving season one.

Give up on UBW and wait for the Heaven's Feel movies. Will probably still hurt, but 3 dumb movies is less painful than 25 episodes of garbage characters. Plus the only satisfying conclusion of the FSN story that ties up the loose ends from Fate/Zero is in Heaven's Feel.

I was considering this but did a good bit of googling and it seemed that most of the internet thought that UBW was the best route from the VN. Re: loose ends, does UBW not touch on Kirei//Gilgamesh or something?

What if you watched Thunderbolt Fantasy which is like all the good things in F/Z done better without all the baggage of being attached to a trash porn VN franchise

I watched the first episode of TB Fantasy and honestly couldn't understand the hype. Felt like the typical period piece action series that comes out every one or two seasons.

Having watched 1/2 of the first season, I'd say it skims the line.

It's not a period piece. It's more like an Eastern dnd campaign. With action puppets.

UBW is the best route in the VN and very much does address Kirei and Gil.

Heaven's Feel is an extremely close second whereas the Fate route is trash. Heaven's Feel is a curious case where some of the bad ends are also part of why people love it so much and I'm curious to see how the movies deal with that. I expect they won't.

The first rule of Fate is that you cannot trust anything a Fate fan says. If they actually like Fate as a whole, they are already lost.

Ill never not be surprised at people who want to see the same handful of things on every list.

I'm glad when a best games of all time list doesn't have Ocarina of Time, FF7 or Super Mario World on it because everyone and their mother knows those are great and highly influential and regarded games, why not give a shout out to something lesser

Thanks for the info regardless!

Objective ranking with no bias

At the end of the day what matters is Fate is trash and so am I

Cardcaptor Sakura - 18

A short return to the series which I realize I have no more real interest in. Honestly, the show's certainly a tad creepy. There's constant focus on the following: 10-year old Sakura and Li crushing on 17-year old Yukito, who in turn keeps an awfully close relationship with Sakura. Sakura's 17-year old brother probably having some sister-complex. Sakura's closest friend being essentially a creepy stalker that records her every move and her mother doesn't seem much better either. Let's also not forget the young girl crushing on her teacher.

It's pretty damn 'anime' in that regard and I have to wonder if it wasn't one of the classics that normalized that crap. Either way, I can't stand to see yet another episode whose basic plot revolves around Sakura having yet another quasi-date with Yukito or so. If nothing else that is also dreadfully repetitive and boring 18 episodes in. Maybe I should instead return to Ojamajo Doremi which doesn't have the same baggage.

Funny. I agree with you in your general point, but you know, I don't actually think my list is particularly unique!
At least 75% of it isn't surprising: it's mainstream stuff (OnePunch Man, Attack on Titan, FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist,) or they are 'classics' like Evangelion or LOGH or always had good critical reception like Mushishi, Ping Pong and others.

Wow I have never seen someone view Sakura's older brother so wrong before.

Like so wrong I almost think you're doing it on purpose.

NaDannMaGoGo is almost always wrong.

This is a guy who thinks the fundamental concepts and basics of Super Robots automatically equals bad writing and justifies it with logic that's wrong.

If he didn't have me on ignore he'd reply to this post and say even more wrong things.

Why? Yukito brings it up himself constantly. First and foremost he seems over protective but it's getting really annoying when he's blushing every time he's called out on it, doesn't really deny said remarks from Yukito and just acts strangely. Like, in this festival episode where he just can't let her go alone, once more, and even feels the need to win a plush toy for her.

I'm not gonna spoil anything for you other than saying he has zero sis-con/perverse interests in his sister.

I'm honestly surprised you haven't picked up on one of Yukito's particular traits.

So A Silent Voice movie can't be seen on Crunchyroll right? Is there a place where I can watch it legally?

It looks like a good film from Kyo Ani. The manga was great.

Sakura Quest: 9

Everything turned out well. Shiori dish might not have won but it did get some recognition and as weird as Yoshino idea was it did get a little bit of attention too, surprisingly. Kumano and Sayuri dilemma was sorted pretty easily, misunderstandings because she was looking at the calendar wrong and found it funny how just because she said she liked his french toast he mistakenly took his ass all the way to France lol.

My Hero Academia: 29

This covered a lot more than I thought it would. Full Cowl movement animated is dope. This moment is great for showing the progress Deku is making with his ability along with his fast thinking skills and the development Todoroki is having, his shift eventually made him one of my favorite characters.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Love and Lies

This is a plot that should end up with a legitimate love triangle, but probably will just end up with MC picking between obviously inferior childhood friend and obvious best girl Ririna.

Actually, that's actually a bit of a knock on the concept; it doesn't really work as well when its obviously set up for the viewer/reader to like Ririna's character a lot more than Takasaki. Like, I'm only on episode 3 or something, but it feels like they intentionally made Takasaki super generic so that Ririna would stick out more.

But I don't live in UK......

It seems like Funimation is gonna release Your Name movie by Makoto Shinkai, but whats the chance they will license A Silent Voice?

Probably zero right.
Last I checked, "A Silent Voice" hasn't been licensed for streaming/home video in North America yet, so nobody knows for sure where it'll wind up.

I mean her brother certainly does seem overprotective at the moment and while I wouldn't say he has a sexual attachment so far, that's often where this strong attachment eventually leads to, in anime anyway.

Yukito seems lonely and his positive demeanor is likely a facade. I do not think he's interested in Sakura for example, but his closeness to her still reaches eyebrow-raising levels and unfortunately plays into her crush on him, even if he has no malicious intent. I mean she was just about to confess her love in this episode, so he dun fucked up. He's the older, smarter guy. Does he not realize any of this? Like, has he not noticed the most obvious infatuation of Sakura? Has Toya not told him about it? Why is this going on for 18 episodes with no end in sight?

YIJYTLn.jpg

I mean, really?

His sis-con remarks didn't seem serious to me but, man, if he keeps repeating it and Toya can't even reply with a "stop joking man!" then I eventually start to wonder if there's more meaning to it.

I'll spoil myself on the plot because I no longer care anyways.
