Summer is the worst season

I'm sure if you live in insanely cold climates, it's probably different, but for me I fucking hate summer. The only positive is it stays light out much later, and the very front and back end the weather is nice. But the majority of summer weather isn't nice. It's hot, it's humid, there's a difference. 85/90 degrees isn't nice. It's gross. You gotta use air conditioning to stay comfortable and that gross recycled air. And people and their damn BO are brutal during the summer. There's bugs and bees and flies all over the place. If you live in a big city you get annoying lawnmowers and weed whackers at all hours of the day and they are fucking annoying. You get ATVs and dirt bikes speeding around city streets. Those are annoying as fucking hell too.

And if you want to argue summer is great for beaches, you go to a beach to cool off because it's hot. If it wasn't hot you don't need the beaches. People don't even do anything on a beach. They splash around in water and just lay around. And in a lot of beach areas like Florida and California, you can go to them in the winter and fall anyway, so for them there isn't really much you can do in the summer that you can't during other seasons.

Summer is cool for about a 2 weeks and then get it the hell outta here (n)

lol yep Fahrenheit.

Humidity is the worst though it's so oppressive. I have a high body temp, so even 80 degrees for me is very uncomfortable dry, if it's humid it's unbearable without AC, and that's not even getting into 90s and humid, it's brutal.

Yeah I have a high body temp too and my city is on the beach

Having high body temp in the current situation is shitty. Hallucinating everyday that I got COVID-19 :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Where I live it gets around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

It sucks. It's already about 100 degrees right now.

I love the Fall and Winter.

I feel your pain somewhat, but on an even worse scale. I also have a high body temp usually, but in my part of Cali the weather can sometimes get into the 100's. So this combination makes me hate summer with a passion. Everyone here always talks about how much they long for summer and how excited they are for it, and then there's me over here absolutely dreading the thought of it......

My central air broke years back, instead of shelling out money to replace it(it would've cost thousands), I just bought a couple window units. And they work well, but they are so loud and I hate it. And I need them running all day when I'm indoors and an entire summer of the loudness of them is enough to drive you crazy by mid summer, just want some peace and quit.

My idea of perfection is to live on an eternal summer by the beach. Sorry lol

I guess being born in the winter and on a Sunday made me hate both of them.

The part where I live in Brazil is actually not that hot. It's always rainy here and it's cold most of the time (of course, cold to me, to you guys who live in the north hemisphere you would consider my notion of cold as hot lol)

I can vouch for the cold climate thing.

When 80% of the year feels like some variation of winter you really appreciate the warm days

How are the bugs and insects in Brazil? I always pictured that part of the world just having tons of mosquitoes and all of that stuff during the summer.

Depends on the region.

Here in São Paulo there aren't a lot of them. But some beach cities in this state are unbearable. At the northeast part of the country, where my father has a beach house, it has mosquitoes but there aren't a lot of them, and they are not the ones that bite, they are just flying over the trash and stuff like that. So it's cool there, the climate is completely different though. It's way hotter than here but much more dry and it also has a lot of wind whereas here, during the summer, there isn't a lof of wind, so summer here feels much hotter despite being colder. It's too big of a country for me to know about all the regions, but some regions are awful for bugs and others aren't. :)

Yeah being in the south I hate summer. I wouldn’t want to live in the far north either, but I fucking hate hot and humid weather, mosquitoes, sun burn etc. not big in swimming either so the pool and beach have no appeal for me.

Cold doesn’t bother me much as long as it’s not extreme with tons of snow etc. I’ve always ran hot and prefer cooler weather. 50-70 degrees year round would be amazing for me.

Really the only months the weather is consistently decent for me here in the sleuth are March, April and October. Some decent days/weeks on November and December some years.

Canadian here and yes OP, you'd change your view quickly if you were lived in a colder climate.

For perspective, we have 4-5 months of the year where its nice out and the rest is garbage. For you, have 4-5 months (if that) of sweltering summer garbage then the rest of the year is nice.

I actually thought about moving to Canada at some point or at least taking a long vacation there. Maybe you can be my consultant. There's a lot of areas in Canada I want to visit, specifically Banff and the Calgary region.

The winter brings my goth side hard.

Whereas at the beach and summer even my music tastes change (for a while) lmao.

Not even close, for me

Summer is awesome here. I fuckin’ hate snow. I hate it. Hate it. Hate scraping shit off my windows and needing to let my car warm up every morning. Hate dumbass drivers sliding into me at stoplights.

When I was younger, and in the best shape of my life, I would drive home to California every summer and spend a month living two of my best friends in their Pacific Beach apartment. Those were fun times.

working in education, summer was always vacation, so maybe I’m biased, and winter wrecked havoc on my morning commute and after school coaching schedule.

There's nothing like taking a walk in the evening during a light snowfall.
Plus I can't get enough of skiing. 'Rona really fucked up the tail end of
this ski season and I'm starting to get worried that it will affect the next
season as well. If I can't hit the slopes next winter I'll go beserk.

Can't stand summer. Too damn hot. Then again, most buildings in my area seem to have the heat cranked year-round, so everywhere is always sweltering.

Agreed. I enjoy mostly indoor activities but I work outside and it's made me love cold more and more. 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit is best as you can work fast in normal clothes and not sweat or shiver

But even if it's colder it's fine because you can escape it and mitigate by wearing more. In heat there is no escape and instead of shivering and being done with it as soon as you get out of it you have to bathe in sweat and then the dried sweat remains until you can get home and shower.

Depends what you consider "nice"

I hate and yet I need it. I work all day till the evening, especially if the heat is 90° and up. I use the heat to sweat alot and let all that toxic shit out of my system. Beside I hate winter too!

I live in Texas. It's like 80-90 degrees F most of the year. I've learned to deal with the idea that it's basically "summer" like 8/12 months of the year. As soon as the chill breeze comes in around October, I'm very happy. 45-65 F is the sweet spot IMO. Nothing better than curling up in bed with a good book to read when it's cold outside. Hiking is awesome, too. Skateboarding is kind of hard when it's cold, but it's worth not being so sweaty.

It usually becomes a hot, humid, sticky situation around February. Spring as a season is super annoying, too. I hate bugs and insects and whatever else creeps and crawls. It rains very often where I live so the mosquitos THRIVE once the weather warms up. I'd love to live in perpetual Fall-Winter, but I do enjoy going to the beach and swimming, so I guess there are some positives trade-offs.

This is incredibly wrong. It's nice and warm out, people are out and about on walks. The world feels alive during the Summer.

As a New Yorker, there is no better place in the world during the summer. Ladies in shorts and dresses. Plenty of bars and restaurants to get an ice cold drink. A nice breeze at night. I love it. Summer is the best season.

Yeah there definitely aren’t many nice months here in the south. As I said above, it’s really just March, April and October that are nice here as someone that likes 50-75f days. Occasionally part of February and November are good as well. Otherwise it’s either hot and humid as hell or cold and rainy.

I get it that months of cold and snow are awful and even worse than long, hot summers. Few are saying they’s prefer that. The extremes suck on both sides, it’s the temperate places thar rarely get above 80 or have lows below 50 or so that are ideal.

I love summer in Michigan. It rarely gets above 90F/32C and is somewhere between 60F/15C and 75F / 23C for over half the year.

The other half it's below 40F and often below freezing, which I love in its own way. I'll take a harsher winter in exchange for mild summers and fewer insects.

Late spring / early autumn ftw. I hate heatwaves, but I hate cold weather even more. At least due to the climate changes the winters stopped being harsh in my country, this year we barely had any snow.

Where I live, it is constantly 70-80 in the summer, which is perfect. Then all of the basic white girls can't wait for fall because of pictures of pumpkins, flannels, etc. Once fall gets here, it just gets cold and rainy. Winter is unbearable, and you don't leave the house for months. Spring is just hope that summer is near. Summer is where it's at. You can go outside without it being cold. There are festivals and cookouts everywhere. The vibe is just completely different and people are noticeably happier.

I know in some places, it gets too hot. Without being too much of a grass is greener on the other side person, I can definitely say I would take the extreme heat over the extreme cold. Florida or Antarctica? Easy choice.
