This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros. film, we decided to move the global release to Spring 2023–April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My deepest apologies but I promise it will be well worth the wait.

Episode 2 Whatever GIF

I'm sorry, but it is impossible for me to imagine a scenario in which this movie is not a disaster.

I just can't fathom how it could be good with that voice cast.

Note: The actors are fine as actors, but as those characters? Hell no. There's no way they can make it work.

I want this movie with only sounds of the characters... No acting voice or dialogue.

I want like this.

With actor voice dialogue It will ruin everything.

Now that you mention it, isn't this like the first time Miyamoto's confirmed to directly use English himself without translator assistance?
I recall reading a story of a guy who met Miyamoto in a bar back in the early 90's. He was introduced as a guy who spoke a bit of English. With that said, there is no doubt this tweet has been cleaned up. Probable original version:

Too bad, was looking forward to seeing what this movie looks/feels like. It's difficult to imagine Mario and the gang speaking without it feeling strange.

In a new interview with Variety, producer Chris Meledandri spoke highly of Pratt's work on the film, revealing that production is currently 75 percent complete. Apparently, there have been about 15 recording sessions in total, and Meledandri has been quite happy with the results.

"Chris was cast because we felt he could give a great performance as Mario. And now that we've done about 15 recording sessions, and the movie is three-quarters done, I sit here and say that I love his performance as Mario," Meledandri told Variety.

Would have liked a live action movie i mean it was us oldies that made it popular lol hopefully its decent when it arrives. A sneak peak Of some of rhe characters would have been nice .

What time to be alive ... two Sonicì movies that are having huge success ... and a constantly delayed Mario movie

is this shitreally needed? like really why ?
i know it's a money thing but come onnnnnnn

If you are genuinely asking, it is because big money tie in for their "Nintendo" theme park that NBS / Universal (illumination) has opened in Japan and opening in the USA.

For real though, a lot of negativity here. I agree with criticism about… one of the casting decisions… for an actor that… is very obnoxious.

But what I will also say is that illumination has a DARN good track record. Sing, Grinch remake (very good, IMO), and that's not even touching on the heaviest hitter - Despicable Me / minions. They have others, almost all their stuff is successful.

I have faith in them to do it well.

In what world is that a good track record? Sing? Are you fucking serious?

So looking to foward to what this is going to be, good or bad.

If miyamoto is involved with this it must be pretty authentic, because he made mario!

Could be an "authentic" shit. Video games and movies are 2 different things. Look at Sonic (Sonic Team often struggles, not Paramount)

I know this might be hard to digest, but just because you don't like it - doesn't mean it was poor.

It was successful, as my post indicated, pulling in 600m worldwide.

I said a darn good track record, not elite. Disney owns the sphere on animated entertainment. It's tough for anybody to challenge that empire. Illumination has done a good job challenging them. Most of their major releases have garnered at least decent critical and box office success.

I think they will do just fine on this film.

Mario ugly?

Happy Chris Pratt GIF by Parks and Recreation
😅 He was supposed to be fun or chibi/cute like all SD characters. Unfortunately, he is neither funny nor cute 😆.
Mario = Great games, pathetic character 🥳

Come on, Nintendo never wanted an ugly icon for kids. He is as fugly as Ron Jeremy 🤪

Imagine thinking mario looks like ron jermy.

The similarities end at the mustache, unless....🍆

Why does everything online today have to get disrespectful?

I don't mean any disrespect dude, just saying that illumination has a fairly good track record. What does that mean? Metacritic critic / user scores in the yellow/ green. RT scores in the 70+, etc.

It's ok if it isn't your style, but they have proven to be worthy contenders. Maybe instead, give me a studio you would rather do a Mario movie? Who is better, currently, in family entertainment (assuming Disney is off the board).
