Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I think you can use a Chronus Max adapter to use 360 controllers on PS4, but I haven't heard that many positive things about it from the competitive scene.

Other option would be to gut a Hori Fighting Commander 4 and wire the PCB into your stick.

Yeah you can, but if you go that route get a TitanOne as it's the official/newer model. The problem with it is that the PS4 checks controllers for authentication every 10 minutes, the TitanOne has an option to automatically reconnect the controller during those periods. I wouldn't recommend it for fighting games because the moment it reconnects, it makes you lose control of gamepaly for a second. It's fine for most other games if you're just playing casually because it's so quick but fighting games IMO is a different ballgame. Hopefully they can fix that completely. Also if you don't have a PC to program the device you're out of luck as well.

this sale culture is probably contributing to madcatz's financial troubles
well, it was fun while it lasted

Well, $250 (plus shipping) Canadian for a stick is ridiculous. If they priced their sticks more sanely, maybe they'd sell more.

So I got my SplitFrame bag in today and it's pretty nice. I ordered the smaller one but it's still freaking huge though! So I imagine the XL bag (only for the VLX) must be like you are going camping.

The padding can be completely removed and customized. I believe the biggest stick that can fit in this is a Fighting Edge but here's my TE2 sitting comfortably.

So I got to tear down my old stick over the weekend and rebuild it for PlayStation. Overall the process was really simple and it worked right away on PS3. I thought that the stick would work with games that support the SG driver on ps4 but apparently that's not the case. Still the cthuhlu pcb was still a success overall and I can mess with the arcade Edition of IV that I got via PS+.

With as easy as the process was, I'd have no reservations about modding it again.

Hi Stick Gaf

Question that I am sure has been asked a million times but please don't hate me...

I have a 360 SFIV CE MadCatz stick that I bought when I was obsessed with SFIV. I've since packed my 360 away and this gen gone PS4. Is there a way to convert my stick so that it will work on PS4 ready for SFV or for SFIV Ultra? I am a complete tech idiot so any guidance gratefully received.

Titan One as has been mentioned, otherwise unless you're good with modding and got the equipment I would suggest just selling it and buying an official PS4 stick.

Hori's Kuro Buttons aren't really as bad as I thought they would be, didn't take long for me to adjust to them. I may stick something else in there though down the road, I'd like to try those Gamer Finger buttons sometime.

I had a Hori Hayabusa at one point in a HRAP2 I used to have, I liked it quite a bit.

Now I just await the official release of Yatagarasu: Attack On Cataclysm next month on Steam. Til then I'll be busy playing lots more Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, The Last Blade 2 and I've been getting into Skull Girls a bit. Beowulf is amazing...

Got mine today.

Hehe.

i could have sworn that i saw someone post that mad catz might release a cheaper stick? i might have misread or be tales from the ass. can someone confirm? lol

I'm going to skip the white for the Chun stick. I regret not buying it when they had it.

Yeah, that Chun looks so good to me. I just want the rivals stick for the white body. I'm really not feeling the orange, even though I know it's a throwback. I really hope MC releases new bezels.

It's true, I can't find the quote but I'm pretty sure they just meant the TE-S+. With all the news about MC financial troubles, it really seems iffy that they release an all-new design anytime soon. Probably gonna ride the TE & TE2 molds for as long as they can.

Got an all black TE for $50 and, after a bit of hassle, got an MKX pad working in it. Just left it in PS4 mode and now it works on PS3 and PS4 without have to manually switch over.

I was going to put it in the Poison stick so I'd have a tri-mod but decided I'd just put it in a new stick and leave Poison for last-gen and older games. I already have a 360 padhack + Cthulhu MC in it so I didn't have much room left to fit another PCB.

Is there a good guide on how to do the PS3 TE to PS4?

Sorry for asking a question that I'm sure is asked 1000 times but is there some list of sticks that work on PS3 and PS4 out of the box or with minimal effort (nothing like modding). I'm wanting to upgrade the TE1 I've had for like 5 years to something I can use on both PS3 and PS4. Something of at least TE1 quality would be ideal.

I tried searching on google but with something like fighting games I don't want to take any chances that it's not at least as good as the PS3 sticks are out of the box.

Eightarc was the company I was going to go with when I originally wanted to upgrade a couple years ago but I'm not seeing anything on their site now that indicates next gen compatibility.

MadCatz te2
Hori rap kai
Hori vlx kuro

Going to be the best ones.

Hi guys, I'm getting back into fighting games and the sticks I used to have were my brothers and I didn't know which one it was

Anyways I want to buy a new one as I'm getting more and more into fighting games and my gamepad just doesn't cut it anymore, what do you guys suggest that is cheap but gets the job done

I'm on PS4

MadCatz te2
Hori rap kai

That's a bummer. Is there something keeping other companies from making X1/PS4 sticks? Figured we'd have a lot of options by now.

Not really feeling any of those 3. The Horis don't look like they have much room for the wrists and I'm not feeling the look of the TE2 compared to my current TE1. Might end up grabbing one if they do an EVO sale though if those are the only good options.

What's a good arcade stick with a ps4 touchpad? Already have a Q4 but I want something to play Xrd and the SFV beta on. I've been looking at the HRAP 4kai/ Pro V5 a lot. Is that Options button on the right section the same thing as the start button?

How is the Hori RAP v5 response-time wise. I saw nothing on Teyah's site but the RAP v4

(PC response time important too)

I would imagine it's the same board as the V4/V4 Kai, as it's largely just a redesign of the shell.

It is. For those that must have touchpad support, which is apparently becoming more of a thing now, the V4 Kai and V5 are the best options right now. They're also the cheapest.

And also the best. :3

Thanks for the advice. Now to decide on which one to get...

Why hasn't qanba come out with a PS4 stick yet?

I'm sure we'll see stuff from them once SFV drops. It's not like there's a huge incentive to rush one out just yet, and it takes a while to go from design to manufacturing for this stuff.

I like my GG Xrd TE2, but my favorite stick is still my Qanba Q4RAF. Just superior build quality, IMO.

Bleh, nuts. White TE2's already out of stock. I thought MadCatz was going to send out an e-mail notification when they went on sale. I had been waiting since the announcement for that and planned a art-mod project around the assumption I was going to be able to snag one. Profound sadness. :(

EDIT: At least from MarkMan's Twitter it looks like they'll be on sale online during Evo. Hope I don't miss them from working through that weekend!

Has there been any TE2 sales yet? Want to get a PS4 stick for the SFV beta and TE2 seems like the best option. $200 though... fuck. EVO sale would be great.

Is there a good guide on how to do the PS3 TE to PS4?

Not sure, as I didn't use a guide. I'm betting there is though.

I just used this pinout from SRK and wired the pad into the Madcatz wiring PCB. Took a couple tried because I'm dumb and wired it in backwards the first time but after that it was fine.

Note that I just did a single pcb mod, I didn't want to bother with the hassle required to make this thing work with a dual mod

I still love my Femme Fatale TE with an original Hayabusa stick. All modded for PS4, keepin' the dream alive.

Mind if I ask how you modded for PS4? I have a namco TE stick that I got dirt cheap for PS3 but really want to make it compatible for PS4. Really annoyed they make you upgrade when it's the exact same controller. Just a cash grab.

consider subscribing to this thread. A poster here mentioned when there were still 3 left.

So, have always wanted a stick but never got round to it. However today I ordered a Venom Arcade Stick Ps4 and 8 new Sanwa buttons, a Sanwa joystick and am really looking forward to having a mess around with it all! Think I have the correct female to female cable ordered as well. Just need to get some artwork picked!

The Horis are a good option at $150 too if you want something a bit cheaper and they're available through amazon.

My only concerns are the buttons supposedly not being that great and the wrist space a little lacking. Otherwise I'd probably be ordering a Hori lol.

MC Cthulu definitely works with the lab zero driver as I've used my stick to play MKX on a friends PS4.

Just ordered one of these badboys from ArcadeShock to put on my GG Xrd TE2 stick.

It's only a subtle change from the stock solid red balltop that came with the stick, but I think it'll add an extra little bit of visual flair. Love me some translucent balltops.

what PCB is in there for PS4 compatibility?

I had Gummowned do the mod - http://gummods.com/

At the time of when Guilty Gear Xrd came out I had purchased the Limited Box edition which came with the Sega Saturn styled gamepad. Well unfortunately that thing was a piece of crap and the D-Pad broke off within hours of gameplay. It was a bummer but I figured I could salvage the PCB inside though. So I emailed Gummo and he said he could do it. Usually he just padhacks a normal DS4 for the mod though. It cost me around $100 to do the mod but normally would be like somewhere around $150 because he normally would have to buy a DS4 to padhack for you.

I don't supposed you're going to EVO? I'd trade my PS4 TE for your Namco, heh.

I'm going to be another "ask a question that might have been asked plenty of times already", so I apologize in advance!

So, the situation that I'm in is that I have two Mad Catz SE sticks, both modded with after-market stick and buttons (360 has Sanwa, PS3 has Seimitsu).

At this point, I really want to have a PS4 stick, and I'd love it if I could have a dual PS4/PS3 stick. But, I don't know what route to take. I don't really want to spend $150~$200 on a stick where I know I'm just going to swap the parts out anyhow, because I'm absolutely going to be doing a custom design on it. I'd love to just magically make my PS3 SE stick into a PS4/PS3 stick, but from what I know that might not be the easiest/best solution.

Is there currently any option for getting a cheaper PS4 shell, that would have everything I'd need, but cheap/no stick/buttons so I can just put in my own? That's really what I want, just a blank canvas to finish it up myself. I'm not sure I can go all the way from total scratch, though, because I know nothing about boards or any of that other stuff.

Also, since some people are mentioning EVO, I'm hoping to be there!
