Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Is there anything sober and cool looking for PS4 yet? (something like the VSHG).

Mad Catz sticks look terrible and the HRAP4 is slightly better, but it's too big and it has the stupid start button on the right that I hate.

Holy smokes is this beautiful

After reading this latency test for controllers I'm kinda shocked how bad the situation is.
If you want a native PS4 stick the best option is to take appart PCB of a Guilty Gear fight pad (which was limited edition only?). The second best alternative would be a old Hori RAPv4 or a MadCatz TE2 while the new Hori sticks are apparently horrible.

Personally I'm fine with everything below half a frame, but come on 4+ ms to transmit an on/off state over wire, wtf are you doing?
But looking at the numbers for the 360 it's no worse for the PS4 versions of the same sticks and pads, is it?

Sure, but shouldn't it be trivial to reach sub 1ms delay for such a simple task?
Especially since PS360+ is basically perfect. I don't understand why MadCatz and Hori are so much worse.

Yeah I totally get what your saying. But it seems like they are performing slightly better than last gen. I think it's funny that with all the negativity towards wireless the DS4 performs better than all the wired sticks.

Well below it states:
** The Sony Dual Shock 4 performs worse when other Dual Shock 4s are connected nearby, causing interference. For every additional DS4 activated on the PS4 nearby, delay increases by ~4 ms, and inputs can become delayed by 2 or more frames or drop altogether. Inputs also drop when console is not in direct line of sight to pad.

In a perfect enviroment DS4 is better than those sticks, in anything but it's a failure.
So only suitable if you are at home alone.

I just hope someone can explain why this is a problem. Hopefully new solutions will come soon that are better. Maybe the new Qanba stuff?

Hey arcade stick gaf. Can anyone tell me what the best place to buy a stick from if you're outside the US? Don't want to spend too much on shipping.

Hey folks - two questions.

One - I have the original red VLX for 360 - what's the easiest way to mod this to get it working on PS4? is it worth it, or will mod kits lead to significant input lag etc?

How's the RAP4 Kai? I notice it's about 50 cheaper than the Mad Catz rivals, but I had a RAP VX SA a while back and thought its quality was iffy; have they improved?

Really looking forward to what Qanba have to show off for PS4 (and Xbox One :O) stick. Not really happy with what we have at the moment from Hori or Madcatz.

Wishlist:

- Super Solid Build Quality

- Touch pad support built in

- In-built mic port (can do without if need be)

- Under 5ms input delay (lower the better)

- Detachable cable or compartment that does not fall apart

- Same rubber slip free material that the Atrox uses for the bottom.

I just finished my third multi-console MC V.S. arcade stick. All three have MKX xbox fightpad, Hori FC4, and MC Cthulhu pcbs inside with Hayabusa Joystick and Gamerfinger buttons. All pcbs go through a rj45 pass-through.

Dang, I am in awe.
I have tried building a stick with a padhack before, and while it worked for a while, the connections ended up breaking after about 6 months. I'm just not terribly skilled with a soldering iron.

hello world

still need to work on wiring... ground isn't working, but I'm throwing in the towel for now. back at it tomorrow.

Just bought a HORI Rap Kai 4 for $126 on Amazon warehouse

Coming in on Wednesday hopefully the beta is still on during

One question tho, how long does it take to get used to everything

This stick is officially GOAT for me. The turbo function was a godsend accessing the Beta without being driven insane. Set it, play Third Strike on my PC right next to my TV while I wait. Perfect.

And the Hayabusa stick is the truth. I was skeptical, but after finally using it--mmmmmm. So smooth. Kuro buttons are good but I still prefer Sanwa for sure.

Have you tried hot gluing the solder points on your pcb?

This is a long while ago, and yeah I piled on the hot glue when we finally got it working. That it worked for those months was an achievement in my mind.

The solder points on the 360 pad were hell to do, and it was my first try at soldering. Could probably do a better job now.

Has there been any discussion of this Titan One dealie around here? I'd really like to get my MCCthulhu HSS-0130 working on my X1 and PS4, and it seems like that might be some sort of solution?

I keep hearing concerns about input lag with it, any truth to that?

anybody know a good place for metal/plexi glass cases? I know panzer sticks did metal cases but I think he stopped since he's in the military

Word, I'm interested too. Would like to use my MC Cthulu dual modded 360 stick on next gen, and I can't front the cash for padhack dual mods at the moment

Get a venom arcade stick from Europe. (Amazon.es)

Seems that shipping will cost me the same as a HRAP 4, lame.

Oh well, I can wait. It's not like I have anything to play it with on the PS4 right now. GG is too expensive to double dip on and I refuse to buy BBCPE.

People have won evo on these sticks that reportedly have lag. I never saw a single person worry about it until some dude started doing tests, and then people started freaking out about it.

All placebo, imo.

That was my suspicion/hope. Mine'll be here tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out for myself! : )

Need a little advice here. Just finished gutting my old 15th anniversary street fighter stick. Any recommendations for mounting a pcb, specifically a ps360+, inside? Everything those has been pretty easy. Just don't want to mount it poorly and cause issues.

The reality is that the reported lag on sticks from these tests is comparable to the average monitor lag -- and the input lag (or rather, processing time) of the game itself. As long as the TOTAL input lag doesn't go over a certain value, it will feel fine. What's more important is the amount the player is used to, as that's what throws your timing off.

Suuuuper simple art swap but figured I'd post up anyway. Essentially just had a black page as art placeholder for 5 years lol. Figured I'd at least swap it out now that I'm using it for SFIV again. Unfortunately i cracked the plexi between the lights. Whoops. Forgot I had to be careful with that.

Ih I had white vinyl die I would have painted the bezel. Maybe I'll get around to it one day.
