You'll need a promo code from the daily exclusive email, but it says In-store and Online.

bleh and i just ordered one from Newegg.

Oh well. Looking forward to getting it anyway.

I just ordered the light blue panels/bezel for a TE2. They don't have a matching dustcover and shaft in stock. Anybody have a link to the closest alternative. Worried they won't match exactly, but not much I can do right now, I guess. :/

Also, Art's hobbies will have Type-N panels up soon! :D

For the Mad Catz parts,

TE2 Side Panel Blue = Existing Mad Catz TE2 Side Panel Blue
TE2 Bezel Blue = Existing Mad Catz TE2 Side Panel Blue
TE2 Side Panel Light Blue = Sanwa Blue
TE2 Bezel Light Blue = Sanwa Blue
Dust Cover Set Blue = Sanwa Blue

I picked up a HRAP 4 Kai yesterday during the Fry's sale. Anyone know of any templates or resources for changing the faceplate design? I would like to make my stick EXTREMELY anime.

Art has templates on his site at http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/index.cfm?loc=about&sub=templates You'll want the HRAP V4 KAI Top Panel Template

You can also order art prints from him as well. He'll precut it w/ button holes for you for like $5. You'll need a plexi from him as well to change your art.

Word, thanks!

Too bad that Madcatz doesn't have any in. I love the dust cover with the directional inputs.

This might not be the appropriate place to ask, but I saw a guy post one a while ago. Does anyone have a (preferrably dualmod) VSHG for sale?

Mmm I'm on the fence as to what stick to buy..... Currently I'm using the Hori Tekken 6 Xbox 360 stick on my PC and it sucks :/ I'm tossing up between the MadCatz TE2 OR the Mad Catz SXT Cross Arcade FightStick Pro Xbox 360.

Heres the dilemma.... I have a PS4, currently I play USF4 on my PC and Rising thunder on my PC, I'll probably play Killer Instinct on PC when it launches later (next year?) So I need a stick for PC, there is still the odd chance though that a fighter comes out on PS4 that I want to play and I'd like to keep using the same stick... With SF5 being cross-play I don't need to worry about what platform to choose, but there could be something coming out later that I do want to play on PS4...

The price difference is quite substantial.... $129 vs $299 the struggle to decide is real :(

Also I personally think the TE2 looks quite a bit nicer than the SXT, can anyone comment on the quality of parts used in both sticks?

-edit

Just pulled the trigger on the MadCatz SXT Cross 360 stick for my PC. Realistically the only fighting game I care about is USF4 and soon to be SF V of course I enjoy playing a bit of rising thunder, I really will only play games that have a large player-base and being from Australia we have a small population and an even smaller population playing fighting games on their PS4....

Fightstick Pros are good sticks, and it'll work great if you're gonna play to PC. I just got one that I'm going to mod for PS4 and I'm liking the feel of it a lot.

This may be a dumb question, but just got a TE2 stick that I haven't been able to use bc I can't figure out how to turn it on. When I hook it up, the red lights turn on but the PS button doesn't respond when I press it. And I've already checked that it isn't locked and on PS4 mode. So am I just dense or am I looking at getting a replacement?

Uh oh. Did you try it on pc while in ps3 mode just in case?

Disable account auto sign in -- something weird happens when it's enabled that causes PS4 to ignore the stick.

OR plug in a wired Dual Shock 4 that's not yet turned on and use stick from "what controller on what account" screen.

(I had the exact same issue and spent about an hour struggling with it.)

Hmm.. Just tried to disable it and turned PS4 off and back on to see and no luck. Unless I screwed it up. Don't have a wired controller to try your second suggestion.

Hey all I asked for help here a while ago with an issue I was having with my stick, finally got around to implementing it and my problem hasn't been resolved. What's happening is that any time I hold a directional input with my joystick for more than ~.5 seconds, I can release the stick and it will continue as if I was still holding that direction for another ~.75 seconds. Checking input via USF4 training it's just one input, not spamming, and it gets cancelled if I put in another other input.

For example: Hold back, character walks backwards, release stick, character continues for ~.75 seconds. Hold back, character walks backwards, release, character continues, press forward and release immediately, character twitches forwards and stops.

The problem gets stranger: when I hold a direction for an extended period of time then release it stops just fine. Walk forward for 2+ seconds and release, stops right away.

What I did to try to fix this was replace the PCB assembly, which was suggested here and made sense, used this. Unfortunately my problem remains unchanged. Any ideas? Also this is occurring on PC, setting up my 360 to see if anything is different there.

EDIT: Same on console.

EDIT2: Changed input mode from RS to dpad and fixed the issue, don't remember if I had tried this before, may have not thought to, having always used it on RS.

So I was messing around changing the panels on my TE2's and I came across something interesting in regards to the smoke panels. Basically, there are different tints.

Left is from my XRD and right is from my Killer Instinct stick. I also picked up a spare set from the mad catz booth at EVO and it matches the lighter Killer Instinct one.
QE4etTbl.jpg

I was wondering why they released a black side panel because I thought the smoke was "close enough" but now it all makes sense. So just a heads up, if you want a really dark panel, the smoke they are offering might not be dark enough and black would be your best bet.

Hey Gaf, I have a few questions about some Arcade Sticks for the PC/PS3/PS4.

Basically I have a giftcard for 80$ to spend on Amazon or Gamestop for a good arcade stick that will work for all 3 systems I mentioned. I had a few TEs when they first came out from Madcatz but I sold them when I began to have less and less time to play due to work and school. Well im totally regretting it now and need something to play with other than my controller. Are there any decent sticks that Gaf would recommend around the $80-100 price range?

Also I have a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom fightstick for the Wii. Ive seen ways to get it to work on PC but is it possible (or easy) to convert it to work with Playstation systems? Ive never soddered before but I have the capability and know someone who can but if its too much trouble I would rather just buy a new one.

Ive been looking at the Qanba N1 but not sure how well it works with all 3 systems, let alone all the games I have on PC. I really want a stick that is easily modified with better parts, so it doesnt need to be the greatest out of the box, just something I can upgrade as I go.

Cheapest PS3/PS4/PC stick I've seen recommended is the Hori RAP 4 Kai. I'm planning to get one myself once Amazon restocks (they're about the only place I can find that ships to Australia).

They've been as cheap as $99 during a Fry's promotion you might have seen earlier in the thread, but seem to hover around $150.

There aren't really any cheaper PS4 sticks on the market as of yet, sadly.

I thought all PS3 sticks work with PS4?

PS3 and PC is my main concern atm anyway. I dont need to worry about PS4 till next year at the earliest. But if PS3 sticks really dont work on PS4 then that is a huge shame

PS3 stick support depends on the game supporting the LabZero driver.

I picked up a 360 te2 and I don't see anywhere on the PCB to plug in an LED board. On the ki stick, it's very obvious once you take the cover off. I don't see any kind of terminal or plug on this PCB.

Does anyone have experience with the neo geo x arcade stick? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098F6PSY/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I'm looking to get my first stick, and this one looks nice (in an understated way), is cheap, and has good reviews.

Thanks!
I don't recommend it. It was just made to play those Neogeo X memory stick games when you plug the handheld into the tv, not really useful for much. And it's supposedly a piece of crap. Especially compared to an actual AES stick. Unless you'll only be playing old SNK games you're better off getting an actual stick.

To be fair, the only 6 button FGs are capcom games, KI and skullgirls. Although lots of the other ones (3D games, anime games) aren't on PC.

Damn that sucks, I guess the 360 versions aren't compatible then.

Just got an email from Amazon saying they expect my TE2 Rivals stick to arrive on 8/12 now.
Well at least there's a date. I really wonder what's up with mc supply chain, they seem to favor having stock for trade shows as opposed to vendors like amazon.

So I ordered one of those Fry's Hori sticks on sale to tinker with, and those dumbasses simply shipped the Hori box with a shipping label on it. WTF is that? Box is all beat up, and Hori's packaging is sub-par to begin with. Tempted to just return it on their dime as it was an impulse buy anyway.

edit: They won't cover shipping back for a return. What reputable company does that? The box is not even that big. It's just a shitty thing to do. First and last time I ever order from them.

Got my Kai in today- doesn't seem to lag (tested on PC USF4) , so the warning on that Teyah site about stick lag seems full of crap.

Stick definitely feels different from a Mad Catz- will take some getting used to, and if I can't, I'll need to mod it.

Did they just slap a shipping label on your Hori box?

got my hrap4 kai in yesterday. Turns out I'm AWFUL at skull girls but the stick feels good for the most part. I can see where some people might not like the square gate on the joystick but that doesn't bother me. The only thing I didn't like is that the buttons are EXTREMELY sensitive, like just resting a finger on the button is enough to register a press (even though the physical button doesn't depress at all).

Does anybody know about a good replacement button that would work to correct this? I'd like to be able to rest my fingers on the buttons.

That's the only thing I don't like about the stock Kuros. My favorite are still Sanwas but I ended up leaving the Kuros for the time being because I like the feel and sound of them even though they're loud as fuck.

haha yeah my wife was asking me what the fuck i was doing last, i guess she could hear me pounding on the buttons across the house. I like the sound of them. I'll probably try to just get used to not resting my fingers on the buttons but if I can't I might have to swap them out. Overall I'm happy with the stick.

Heh, those are actually only medium sensitive buttons. You'll probably want to switch to Seimitsu buttons. Any of the PS-14 models will work great for you

http://www.focusattack.com/brands/Seimitsu.html

thanks for the info.

They did. Doesn't bother me all that much.

Eh, ok. I hate it with a passion. I find it completely thoughtless and lazy when companies or sellers do that. Shows a complete lack of any customer respect, imo. Greatly increases the potential for damage, theft, and even resale value. Particularly here because Hori's packaging is so flimsy with thin cardboard and eggshell holders.

Just make sure the PS-14s fit in the HRAP4 Kai before you buy them. They're a little wider than the standard Sanwa OBSF-30s. They fit fine in my old Madcatz SE, but I tried putting them in my new PS4 venom stick and they were just too big to squeeze through the plexi.

This HRAP4 Kai is awesome.
Dropped my OBSF-30s right into it.
Zero issues. I love the lower profile and wider base compared to the HRAP3.
Stick is way more comfortable to use on my lap.
Only annoyance so far is having to remap stuff in MAME

The stick is harder to do 360s on for some reason. At least for me. I think I prefer the buttons being the way they are though.

Did you personally test? 1 frame of lag (16.67ms) is imperceptible to us, but that doesn't change the fact that it's there. I don't think Teyah's results are BS, but I also don't think they should be the holy grail of picking sticks.

I'm not feeling the Kai too coming from 6 years of TE Round 1. I'll need to spend more time on it, but off the top of my head:
1) Weight is lighter
2) Stick, feels like there's bigger range of motion to me.
3) Buttons, not as smooth as Sanwa. In better news, I feel like I could double tap these buttons better for some reason.
4) The position of the buttons seem a little different? Maybe it's in my head...

I think the wider base of the Kuros lend themselves better to double tapping.

The kai has a bit more space between stick and buttons if that's what you mean by being different.

I also don't like how light the Kai is. Really hoping hori makes a PS4 fightingedge. That and the VLX are the only sticks I like more than the Madcatz offerings.

Did not know this, I'm not crazy! I'm trading in an old PS3 SE stick so this is a good replacement for it.
