Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Hard to tell without a frame of reference, but if it's as small as it appears I'd be impressed if it was easy to mod with standard parts. In particular it looks kinda thin for underside stick height, but again hard to tell from that pic. (Edit-but yeah could be nice for sacrificing the PCB for a custom stick)

Kinda curious how the stick feels too, not so much the stick itself, more the hand/palm rest area cause it looks pretty close to the left edge. I made a mini stick a while back and remember extending out the left side a little cause it was uncomfortable playing with my hand resting on the edge. I didn't have those slanted front sides though so I imagine that would help a bit.

Well, a few of us were saying we were disappointed at the lack of budget stick options for PS4.
I don't think I'd find it comfortable myself, but I guess it's neat to have the option for the people asking about how they can try a fight stick without spending $150 (assuming it is a budget stick, anyway)

I wouldnt be putting standard parts into that case, just ripping the PCB/wires from that case (depending on how its setup)

do we have any idea when a new PS4 TE2 will drop?

i'm dying w/o my 360 TE and the current TE is sold out on the MadCatz store.

also, i heard the TE2 panel is flimsy, is this an upgraded one: http://store.madcatz.com/categories...ick-Tournament-Edition-2-Clear-Top-Panel.html

thanks

If u r talking about a revision or update, most likely not this year, the Chun li te2 is still supposed to drop in the "fall". They said that will have an updated plexi though at least.

great, thanks. all the internals will be the same so i'm not waiting on a revision. a fresh batch w/ better plexi is enough for me to dive in.

Man, how do you guys go about designing your stick art? I just feel so clueless at times.

My wife's new stick. ☺

Hmmm, I think I'll steal your design for an art I'm working on. Not sure how well it willmesh with what I have in mind ut it's worth a shot.

sometimes u find inspiration in the most unlikely of places

How do they compare to Silent Sanwa parts in terms of noise reduction and feel? Do the silent Kuros still have the squeaking issue?

The Gen1 Silent Sanwa JLF is quieter than a standard microswitch lever. The Gen2 Silent Sanwa JLF is quieter still, but not silent.
The Hayabusa Silent is an optical lever, so it is completely silent unless you're riding the restrictor gate. I've never used the GamerFinger or Rollie optical PCBs, but Youtube videos suggest similar levels of quiet.
As far as feel, there is less weight to the movement in the lever, but a stronger spring can help if it bothers you.

The silent Kuros are less mushy feeling and slightly quieter than OBS buttons with Sanwa's pads. I found the silent Kuros completely normal to play on whereas the Sanwas really did feel like playing in mud.

The Kuro buttons seem to have a quality control sort going on at the factory. The ones in most basic sticks are unmarked and some of them exhibit the squeaking issue.
The ones in the VLX Kuro and HRAPV Silent are marked with a white dot and in my experience don't squeak at all.

Great, thanks. Will go for the Silent RAP V then.

Wow, is that a Standard Edition? How did you replace the art on that?
I looked into it when I was going to buy a WWE Brawlstick. From memory, I think it involves going to a printing place and printing out a sticky thing. I'm kind of partial to just peeling off the sticker and leaving the metal, it should look quite nice.

My Q4's joystick is starting to feel loose and wobble. Like if I put it to the right side and let go it'll shake and the game registers it as right left right. Any way to tighten it?

Was just about to ask about people's experiences iwht the HRAPV Silent because it's about 3,000 yen off right now but it seems my question has already been answered!

Any owners give me a quick star-rating on it? I've only got a PS3 TE stick (the first one that came with SF4 vanilla) - it's been fantastic for me, but I need a PS4 stick and I think the wife would be happy if I picked up a quiet one.

I was playing some sfv beta the other night and my te2 stick felt very off. I felt the shortukens felt I had to move the stick more then toward if that makes sense. Like instead of stopping at foward I had to tilt it a little higher. Any advice? :(

Another option is just to use a regular laminated image and carpet tape. It's super strong and will hold it in place, but it's not a total pain to remove it if you want to change out the art.

Ended up buying a HRAPV Hayabusa. Not 100% sold on it if I'm honest, the stick feels a little bit goofy, I preferred the really tight nature of the TE stick. The buttons I can definitely get used to though.

For anyone who likes to padhack, Gamestop are selling used mkx fightpads for $20.00. Most likely due to them being wired controllers.

be aware that these fightpads are easy to padhack, but you cannot dual mod with them.

That being said...damnit thats awesome, I paid $100 for a pair of fighting commander pro 4s, and I just ordered a TE2 (when I dont even like TE2s) for my travel stick...could slap one of these PCBs into my HRAP3SA

Yeah, MKX pads work great for dual (well, quad) modding. Just need to do a bit of extra work on the PS3/4 pad. They are what Gummo from SRK uses in his mods.

To stop the buttons being always "on" you have to add diodes to every input ( anode to the signal line on the MKX pcb, cathode to the signal line of the dual mod setup)

Friend of mine got two quad-mod sticks from Gummo and I was surprised to see MKX pads in there

Same but saving dough is sorta worth it if you can get the pad for $20. I only need one quad-mod stick so I don't think I'll bother.

Got a second PS4 stick here and an X1 stick on the way for whoever wants to play on 2P :P

yea I dont need any multi mod, and im pretty sick of modding (I can do it, but Im not very good at it).

I definitely couldve saved some money with these, I bought 2 FCP4s so long ago but only did one of the mods. Spent $180 on a te2 and seeing these pads for $20 has me doing a double take, but I honestly dont even feel like doing a third mod. Sony's shitty compatibility has beaten me

Exactly. It's such a hassle to fiddle with PS4 stuff.

But I'm set now on sticks for this gen so I'll leave well enough alone.

Until I find a good deal on something I can't pass up lol

yea I'm now settled, my arcade cabinet is padhacked with two FC4s, and I have a TE2 on order. Ill still use my HRAP3SA on PS3 and PC (so if for some reason I get SFV Ill be getting it on PC just to use my HRAP3SA), but Ill have the TE2 for PS4. I wish I had the energy to just hack the hori, but w/e, i've lost the will

This gen will be around for a while, so you've got plenty of time.

I've got a full custom Poison stick for 360/PS3/PC, TE R1 modded for PS4, FS Pro quad-modded for easy traveling, and an Atrox for X1 arriving this week cause I got it for a good deal.

That's all I'll need for a while I think. But every time I say that I see something cool. But I'm in the same state of mind as you in that I'm tired of soldering for now. Though I'll probably have to add PS4 to my girl's stick sometime before SFV hits. That'll be a quick FC4 job most likely.

I got my Real Arcade Pro V Kai today, and sadly the stick is unrecognized by Windows (10) in "One" mode. ("360" mode works perfectly.) Maybe they can put a driver out that makes it work, but why bother with a 360 toggle switch right there. Bummer.

The timeout on PS4 when using the PS360+ is such a drag; it's sucked all the fun out of using my stick for the SFV beta.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about a fix, even if it's a bluetooth add-on for the PCB?

I'm thinking about going all in on the TE2 Frys deal, swapping the sides for yellow ones, adding some Birdie art, and possibly changing the buttons (less likely) and/or ball top. (more likely)

Should I do it now or wait, GAF? I don't recall there being any real sales of these and I don't know what the odds are of seeing one before SFV releases.
