Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

So the home button, LSB, RSB, turbo etc are connected to board at the bottom. How would I go about getting them connected? I feel like I messed up buying the board with the pre soldered connections...

if you don't want to mess with the preinstalled connectors, you can solder the wires to the points under the board.

so far the only thing i've seen actually announced is an overpriced ($120) evo branded stick bag. i'd expect something else from @arcadeshock on their twitter

the T7 stick is my new favorite practical (read: not VF4) stick

IT'S PRETTY GOOD

white case is a beaut too

/edit/ crown buttons came in so my HRAPV is all korean for Tekken.

Looks nice, I'm looking to use a similar color scheme.

Unrelated: Does anyone know what mounting plate I'd need to put a Seimitsu LS-56 in an HRAP4?

EDIT: never mind

Anyone else with a Mayflash f500 and messed with it? I got one last month. Works great but tempted to do some mods on it to personalize it.

Only $72 lmao
https://splitframe.net/collections/...e-tech-hoodie-fgc-streetwear-series-pre-order

The one thing about Street Wear in our opinion, is that the designs have an appeal outside of the FGC, which we think will create conversation, curiosity and further grow our market. We could have stamped a Street Fighter logo on a hoodie and tee and called it a day, but then again, this has been done many times over and for those who aren't familiar with the Street Fighter brand, what better way to create interest when someone sees a 'generic' design and asks "are you a Street Fighter?"
wtf

What do you guys make of the Etokki Omni (Sanwa version) for a beginner that's keen to git gud?

I tried the Mad Catz mini stick but it just didn't feel great and was too small and light it just flew around my lap and felt like it defeated much of the point of having a stick.

I just can't handle how ugly most of the other mid range sticks are and the Etokki Omni looks so gooood.

at $200 i wouldn't call it a "mid range stick" and PS4/PS3 seems less useful than PS4/XBO

it's full sanwa so you won't need to change anything which is nice, and i hear people love the case. if the pricetag doesn't bother you it looks fine to me.

The etokki Omni would be over $250 after shipping though. I have the version with the Korean Fanta stick. It's a beautiful stick.

If you want a $150 stick with Sanwa parts already included, I'd go with the Qanba Crystal. You can pick it up at any of the arcade parts website (Paradise, Focus Attack, Arcade Shock), or though Eightarc's site which is Qanba's US subsidiary.

So I ordered a Seimitsu LS-56 w/ octagonal gate. When it gets here I plan on making a video on how it works out for Tekken.

looking forward to it, since I have always been more of a Tekken player than a SF one, I have always wondered if molding my stick with an octogonal gate would benefit me.

i imagine octo-gate would be especially shitty for Tekken due to the importance of db and df. that said i'm admittedly enjoying the crown lever which effectively has no gate.

I've seen people say they were good for tekken. I mainly got the octagonal gate bc I felt I'd have trouble finding cardinal directions on an ls-56 otherwise tbh. I'm comfortable with a square gate so I'll just take it off if need be.

I was reluctant to go for a Korean stick bc I think i'd have trouble finding db and df on it.

if you're having trouble finding the cardinal directions I'm not sure that an octagonal gate will help, if you look at the anatomy of a lever the cardinal directions are just individual microswitches which you will necessarily hit before the gate. ergo, the gate isn't going to help you go from neutral to forward because by the time you reach the gate you've already activated the microswitch.

of course, by all means try it out and see if you prefer octagonal gate, but especially if you're new to sticks in general i would encourage you give square gate an honest try. there is a reason square gate comes standard in every single arcade stick.

I don't have an issue with inputting cardinal directions on a jlf style stick, I've just seen people say it's difficult with Seimitsu sticks due to the low throw and engage making everything 'close together' in a sense, and that an octagonal gate would help with that. I'm fine with my current stick (hayabusa), I just want to try this out.

Any EVO deals on the way? I'm about to buy a stick but I don't want to spend more money if I can get a few bucks off it.
I'd imagine that you could get great deals on replacement Sanwa buttons at EVO. If you mean online deals, they'll probably put up codes during EVO.

Bad experience?

The power cord messed up. Like, it stopped drawing in power. Turns out, there's a break in the USB cable. Okay, that's fine, Youtube and co. said I can just splice it together with another cord. So I attempt that, and it's still running into the same problem of not having enough power (the turbo light turns on, but either the PC or PS4 can find it).

I was out of warranty, so I tried to ask Hori if they had one. I'd even buy it from them. It's literally a USB cord that needs one of those JST ends (a very particular one, though) and I'd be good to go. They couldn't help me for shit.

I can't find a replacement cord with that end anywhere. And it might be something with the board. I'm not sure.

Meanwhile everyone else and their mom can just swap out a cord, like Quanba or Razer and be done with it.

It lasted for a year, but it's been real painful dealing with its death. Might go Quanby.

The break probably doesn't run all the way to the connector, so you could cut the stock cable a few inches away from the connector and splice your cable in there. You could even desolder the connector and solder in your own cable there if you don't want to splice wires.

Cord breaks like that are kind of rare in my experience; I've owned many Hori sticks dating back to the PS2 and I've never had that be a cause of failure.

So what are the chances that the Fighting Edge is revealed at EVO and pre-orders go up?

0%

As someone with a B15SDM stick, I need a bag big enough for that lol.

The Gummo & Vicko MadCatz EVO sticks look amazing, though. They're gonna be nice pieces of kit.

Damn I'd love one of these but $400 is a little steep even for me.

I guess I could just mod my VS stick. I haven't used it in years.

I sadly don't have the original USB end anymore. When I opened up the cord, one of the white ones was broke, so I assume that's the case. But yeah, maybe it was a freak accident, but I'd rather it just be something I can fix easier by buying a cord or something.

So it turns out I got the wrong mounting plate >_<. I chose the
VF plate because the description said it was compatible with hori sticks but I should've just got MS I'm putting in a return ASAP.

The new buttons and balltop look cool at least.

As an HRAP2 SA owner I've always used adapters for forward compatibilty, lol. Never considered the alternative, but that makes a lot of sense since so many more new sticks are available.

So I just got a Hori RAP V Silent Hayabusa Arcade Stick (Imported).

What buttons are these? Internet is not very clear about it, some people say they silent Kuros some others say Hayabusa Silent, some other say there no such thing as hayabusa buttons.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

Also whatever buttons I comes with, should I replace them with Sanwa silent or are these good enough?

Are they glossy or matte finish? Former is Kuro, latter is hayabusa. Chances are good that you have Hayabusa just because of the model (IIRC those only came with Hayabusas), as the HRAP V4 Kai line switched halfway through with a refresh to a better board and Hayabusa buttons.

EDIT: quick Googling says that yes, indeed, it uses Hayabusa buttons. Don't bother swapping them unless you absolutely, positively HAVE to have a different brand.

Yeah, they are matte, yeah, upon further testing I like the feel of these buttons, I think I am leaving this arcade stick stock, I am incredible surprised with the stick it comes with, totally silent and an amazing feel, maybe the optical gate it uses at work.

In all fairness I've grown weary of the JLF and have been a Seimitsu fanboy for a long time, but the Hayabusa is a very close second for me. It feels like the good parts of the Seimitsus I love with a slightly better housing setup, IMO. Throwing a 2lb spring into it makes it damned near perfect.

Still prefer my LS-40 over it, though.
