One thing I like about SVC Chaos is the crazy expressive depictions of the Capcom side. It's like, okay, they lost two buttons so lets make up for it by drawing them like lunatics.

I do tend to think that the SNK-ization of the Capcom characters was way better looking than the Capcom-ization of the SNK characters.

speaking of svc, just nabbed this for $30 shipped. anyone familiar with it? looks like the same mold as that DC stick.

It uses ASCII clone parts IIRC. Unfortunately I don't think any of the game-licensed/branded ASCII controllers use that sought-after optical lever.

Is it just me or is that thing really wide, like even the spread between stick+buttons looks huge. On the other hand I guess it'd theoretically be more comfortable like that.

Anyway going in the opposite direction, here's my latest abomination/prototype:

Went a lot wider than I needed to, and the mail box made it a bigger pain in the ass than it needed to be (also got wood under the plexi and cardboard there).

I got some thicker plexi and some actual plans for my next one which should hopefully bit a bit more complete (...now that I have straight edges and rulers to work with!) and a good chunk smaller again. If it works out I'll have to find a plastics shop or something for the plexi in the final version since regular hardware stores don't stock thick enough stuff.

Since I started out with fighting games just recently, I'd like to get myself one of those arcade sticks.

My current choices are a Hori Dead or Alive 5 Fighting Stick for 100€ and the Madcatz Soul Calibur V for 130€, both new for PS3. As far as I know, the Hori is a Real Arcade Pro A3 SA. Whatever stick this is, I couldn't find any information about it.

Which one would you recommend? Maybe another model? It's going to be my first stick and I've heard only good things about both, Hori and Madcatz so far. Both sticks are also using Sanwa parts, so I guess I can't really go wrong with them.

Since I own a PS4, the future possibility of modding the compatibility would be highly appreciated. That is, if there won't be any software support for old sticks. Maybe there's a chance for the Madcatz Ultra SF4 stick to be release in Europe this year? My budget is 150€.

I want to get a stick primarily for SF4, but I'm also playing DoA5U and SC5 occasionally.

Finished my Crossbone mod last night. Made the mistake of not ordering a ribbon cable. Which meant I had to solder 20 cables, which ended up being kinda painful on my hands. But thankful it worked in the end.

Picture before tying up the wires.

Either is fine, they're both pretty good. My first stick was a Qanba Q4 because it was dual modded (got it for cheap though). With a budget like that, I'd suggest that you shouldn't wait for the Ultra stick (seeing as how it's 200€ if the pricing if the same for both TE2's) and instead pick up a stick and a PS360+ PCB instead. Apparently it's going to get PS4 support patched in, so it's good enough, cheaper, and solder free.

Nice, well then I think I'll go for the cheaper one - Hori. I also prefer the DoA5 artwork over the SCV.

How is Hori's customer support in EU (germany)? I remember Mad Catz to be ok when it came down to replace the same part of my Tritton headset 4 times in a row because of how cheap it was build. That damn cable always broke just after a couple of days of usage.

Really giving serious thought to getting a Hayabusa... Anyone aware of any step-by-step guides online (maybe on SRK?) for installing it into a MadCatz Fightstick TE? I'm a total newbie when it comes to mods, concerned that I could accidentally mount it upside down or something.

I'm sure you could mount it upside down, but then it's simply a matter of just mounting it again. Make sure you check the lever fits in that particular shell first though.

How do the stick and buttons compare to the Sanwa ones (I'm used to on MadCatz sticks)?
I bought a hayabusa for SCR. used it for several months and reverted back to a JLF. it's a good stick but I was having difficulty getting clean diagonals.

I just realized I should put the hayabusa in my 6 button stick.

Do you just screw it in as-is or do you need to take any parts of it (the Hayabusa) off before mounting it?

Apologies for stupid newbie questions.

Hey all, this is my first post in this thread, but I have been lurking it for quite some time...

I just pulled the trigger on a Virtua Stick Pro HSS 0130 a few minutes ago. I have a pair of Saturns and a Dreamcast, and am aware of adapters to use it with a PC or the DC.

I was just wondering if there are any relatively straightforward methods to use it with a PS3 or even a Wii?

(Apologies if this question has been addressed to death in this/other threads already.)

The best way to go with the HSS-0130 is to pull out the guts, and install a multi-console controller emulator like the MC Cthulhu (which I use in mine) or the AkiShop PS360. I personally went MC Cthulhu, since it functions with the Saturn and every other retro machine I own, except the Genesis.

Ah that makes sense. My ps3 hori stick has already been shipped. Maybe I should have waited, but who knows when this new model is going to be available at a german retailer.
As far as I know, the only announced FG on ps4 is GG so far. So, as long as there's no new SC, DoA or SF I'll stick to my ps3 hori... which is probably gonna be a while. That ps360 pcb costs like more than a half of the stick I ordered (96€). Probably only worth for the higher end sticks.

I wonder why there is a mechanical switch to the new hori to switch between ps3 and ps4 if it's a digital USB connection anyway.

Edit:I totally forgot MKX. Hmm...

Hmm, that sounds like a great option, but I think I'm a little intimidated to pop open the HSS-0130 at this point...

I appreciate the suggestion, though!

The HSS-0130 is fairly modular. You don't have to destroy anything to get inside, it's just screws.

I did get lucky though, I bought a damaged one that had been semi-converted to Dreamcast for only 9,000 Y. I was probably more brave in opening it up because of the price.

What is the "Silent"? Same as Hayabusa V4 but Amazon JP exclusive?
Is the Hayabusa quiet?

The stock joystick in my SFIV Fightstick TE is the quintissential *click* kind of stick. Less noise and shorter throw/engage both sound like a dream come true.

Nawp, about the same as a normal sanwa or sei.

I wonder why it's called the "silent."

I'm guessing they're using the quieter microswitches and padding adopted by Sanwa (and modders) for their "silent" models. If you have neighbors who get annoyed by the loud joystick sounds, they make a pretty huge difference and don't affect the feel of the buttons too much. (A little "mushy" but not too bad, you get used to it quickly.)

Yeah, I've got some silent sticks and buttons. They're awesome for practicing on PC when the fiance is sleeping. :)

I find that the silent Sanwas leave my fingers fairly sore, at no fault of their own. I think I try to hit them harder to make them click, especially when I'm trying to hit a few buttons together (ultras in SF, throws in Tekken).

I must be using audio cues through the stick and never fully realized it.

What do you guys use to lube arcade sticks so they don't get sticky to a direction?

My Korean stick is getting more and more sticky when I hold a direction sometimes it won't return to neutral.
