Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

That's pretty cool. Gonna keep my eyes on this.
Far out. I'll wait for reviews to make sure there's no weird compatibility issues but if this ends up being actually good I have found my new gen stick!
I bought the PS3/360 version of this stick when it was $45 and got it modded for PS4 and I highly recommend it.

-The stick itself is okay and the buttons are ass. It came with a square gate and the stick didn't have a quick disconnect so if you want to change it, you'll have to do some soldering.
-The weight of it is AMAZING. The bottom plate is metal with rubber stops on the four corners. It's pretty heavy, which is why I love the feel of it.
-The plexi is very easy to take off because it holds in with some strong magnets.

Some info for anyone interested, assuming they keep the build the same as the other version.

I kinda regret selling it to my brother but at least I still play it when I go home to visit.

So since Focusattack.com is back online, and I'm new to arcade sticks, can someone gibe me a link to Sanwa buttons that would work with the Hori Rap 4? Thanks

Any 30mm snap-in button for the main 8 buttons (OBSF30, OBSC30, etc in any color) and any 24mm for your start button (OBSF24, OBSC24)

Snagged a Killer Instinct TE2 on eBay for $130 shipped; would have preferred being able to use my old TE on XB1, but I'm happy to have this at that price-- optimistic about 360 BC, and so I'm hoping my many old arcade games start populating my games list. Seems like a great stick, and I love the color of the glowing buttons.

Thanks. I don't thibk I need to replace the start button lol. Not that important. So I'll get 8 Sanwa 30mm buttons. I noticed some are more expensive than others. "Silent" buttons or whatever. Are they really silent?

Not completely silent but they are noticeably quieter. Possibly a better option is to buy the focus attack silencers since you are buying from there anyways. They are basically foam pad inserts which do the same thing and are inexpensive.

I'll just go without them and see if the noise annoys me, then if I want I'll buy them.

Interesting that the TE2 is still up. I have been on the fence for the longest time but I may as well jump for it while I have the funds. It's a nice looking stick.

Edit: Oh, wait... There is no touchpad.

Yeah man, some people will say that it's not a big deal but if you only have one stick and no touchpad, it gets pretty annoying for some games. I would not be able to do the trials in US4 for example because I can't see what I am supposed to do.

It's disappointing, for mad catz at this point to be introducing limiteds and not adding touchpads. I get that they are in financial trouble so they most likely won't be doing a v2 of the te2 but still.

Getting everything prepped for SFV beta next week. Just finish up my art , getting buttons in today, and Monday getting in the TE2 LED PCB. then I will be set.

Here is the idea for the art...I really liked this art for Street Fighter 2 Turbo:

latest

So I took the existing Street Fighter V Ryu art and took a pass at trying something that would be a throw back to that vision:

Modding these sticks are always so much fun. :)

Dope art man, he's starting to look a little more like evil ryu though.

Speaking of SFV,

Skilletor or anybody from stickgaf, there's a SFV panel today at EVO at 2pm. That's a good chance to meet up if ya'll want to! I think I'm gonna leave after that to catch my flight out of here.

Great stick. I have had it since launch. You got a really nice deal there. Was 200 new and was selling for 400 for a while from secondary market

Will the panel be streamed?

Recently picked up a Hori RAP 4. Anyway I can make the joystick feel tighter when doing movements? It feels looser than I'm used to on the madcatz sticks.

So in a drunken impulse decision last night I ordered a HRAP V5 Hayabusa and I'm just now seeing that it doesn't use Sanwa parts and I'm a little taken aback!

I'm pretty out of the loop, clearly. Am I getting a good stick with durable and responsive parts? I've only used Sanwa parts for the past five or so years, this isn't gonna be some Fighting Stick EX2 shit right? lol

edit: And if I want to, would it be easy enough to swap out my SFxTekken FightStick PRO parts with the parts in the HRAP V5?

I just bought usf4 on steam and my Kai works perfectly. Its plug and play, should automatically install all necessary files to make it work. Just make sure you plug it in before you start up a game, since I've noticed that sometimes makes it not register. Oh, and I use it while its on ps3 mode since I heard that worked best for PC.

Awesome, thanks!

Awesome, thanks!

The newer sticks from Hori are filled with their own Sanwa clone parts, so replacing them is as simple as can be. The opinion and quality of said parts though varies. I have a stock Hayabusa/Kuro stick and it feels great. I've also had one that was kind of janky. Especially the buttons.

AFAIK the beta will not support arcade sticks.

Excellent, thanks! Hope the parts I get don't feel sloppy, but at least I have a fallback. I'm not worried enough to cancel the order and get a different stick.

Ugh, order an hrap to play the sfv beta or wait for qanba to announce a ps4 stick and get that day one. Decisions decisions.

Dammit!

My phone reception has been spotty all weekend. Haven't been able to check GAF much. Sorry I missed you. :(

Panel was awesome. Combofiend is such a cool guy. He was on the floor earlier showing people some stuff on the SF5 stations. So dope.

I bought a set of those cherry switches from paradise arcade. Almost bought a rivals stick since my wife (:D :D :D) wanted one, but she wants a Chun TE2 more, so we'll likely wait.

Got copious amounts of hoodies and t-shirts. Played some SF5. Been a good EVO.

Yeah no worries. There's always next year! Panel was dope, you could really feel the hype in the room. I copped a set from paradise arcade as well. I was a little disappointed they didn't have the LED versions though.

The Chun stick looked really cool in person. I snapped a couple pics for people to see it. I love that the blue is transparent.

Also I was asking about colors for the TE2 side panels and apparently these will be all the ones available + white.

I just got a PS4 in anticipation of getting SF5 and was probably going to get USF4 as well. I was looking at the TE2, but apparently the lack of touchpad input is a problem? Is there a better option out there?

Forgive me if this has been asked in here numerous times, but I have a couple of converter questions.

I have an older custom ps1/ps2 stick that I would like to use for SF5 beta. I looked around and found a ps1 to ps3 converter, but will that work on the PS4 as well?

Secondly, I also have a modded Xbox 360 SF4 fight stick. What are my options to get this stick to work on my PS4?

Thank you in advance!

Thinking of switching to stick from pad (DS4) after watching evo all weekend. I'm thinking Mad Catz or Qanba whenever they announce their new stuff (saw ads for it on evo).

Probably will wait until the end of the year to get one but doesn't hurt to look now! Also may look for a wired pad too just in case.

Ordered a HRAP4 Kai. I am just concerned about the input lag. Some folks are speculating that it has the same chip set as the VLX, which has 15ms input lag - a massive whole frame. Meanwhile, the TE2 has ~5ms lag. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I was literally hovering over an order on Amazon earlier today, but I saw that link posted somewhere and haven't clicked the order button as a result. A bit of a bummer.
I like the TE sticks, but without a touchpad I feel like there could be problems in some games in the future.

Whaa? I love their mice. Keyboards not so much. Also I've never heard of rampant issues on the Atrox sticks like Madcatz used to have on the original TE and especially SE.

Just joking. Sort of. I've had a few issues with their mice, plenty of issues with their keyboards.

I think I'm just going to pick up a cronus for the beta, then get a ps360+ later because after buying Xrd day one, I haven't played it since.

I have the Titan One, as I read that it supersedes the CronusMax. Been using it on XBO KI and GG Xrd & USF4 PS4. Works ok. Some days I feel like there is latency, other days I feel like there's none, but I don't have an idea to test this as I would like to test vs a PS3 stick for USF4. On PS4, there is a 10minute timeout where the controller resets itself, which is aggravating because you lose all input for a second. If you are casually (CPU/training mode) playing it's fine, but I wouldn't use it at a tournament. It's banned at EVO as well.

So reading this correctly if i try to use the cronusmax with a wired xbox 360 hori stick on my ps4 there will be 1 second of every 8-10 minutes where I can't enter input? Aside from that it works?

I have a really nice hori that I enjoyed the hell out of for the xbox 360 but I don't think I have the budget to buy a nice fight stick for the ps4......the cronusmax seemed like a perfect but I guess not if it has a frustrating issue. I'm fairly tech savvy but not comfortable with padhacking. Any other cost effective solutions sub 100 bucks or am I stuck switching back to gamepad for SF5?

Looking for the "best" ps3/4/PC stick? I see HRAPs and Kais and Hyabusas. I'm new to this. I'm in the US. Is there a definitive choice yet? Should I wait for something new coming out?

Thanks!

The Kai has a touchpad, and iirc, that's the only stick that has one. So that might be a big plus for you, especially since it is really useful (or mandatory) for trial/practice modes in the current fighting games.

How easy/difficult is it to customize the Kai 4? The TE2 is super appealing on that front, but if touchpad interfaces are going to be standard in fighters going forward, it seems like I'd want to wait and see if MadCatz did a TE3 or something.

Seems like a pretty big oversight on both sides.
