Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

If you are only interested in SFV and don't care about any other fighters, it just makes sense to wait in your situation. A lot can happen between now & next year.
I also have Guilty Gear Xrd, Mortal Kombat X, Ultra Street Fighter 4's PS4 port, Skullgirls' PS4 port, Tekken 7, & more that I potentially want to play. Though only MKX & USF4 has the Lab Zero driver (& Skullgirls, obviously), & Xrd is known to lack it (though I hope that the new version has the driver added to it if they do a separate disc release).

Just finished this up tonight, just before the Beta drops. Feels good. :)

Wowowow, that's a real beauty!

Also, is there an easy solution to keep the plexi from shifting around on TE2 sticks?

I never found a way to get the stock plexi to hold still. Ended up buying a replacement one from Art's Hobbies. Feels much thicker, doesn't move around.

How do you guys print out art for the te2 stick? I don't have access to a nice printer or printing center place :/

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask, but i have a quick question on concerning stick support for USF4 on PS4.

I heard they added support for PS3 stick a while back, does this cover only TE sticks or also the old, smaller, white SE models?

http://www.google.de/imgres?imgurl=...i=3JCwVbCZEMX3UvyRibgE&tbm=isch&client=safari

It works on any PS3 stick that does not present itself as an offical PS3 pad.

I can confirm it works on the Madcatz S.E you linked. :)

Is there a comparison somewhere of the native PS4 sticks currently available? Want to start doing some research, although I guess it makes sense to see what happens around the launch of SFV.

I've already left the DS4 turned on more times than I care to mention because of needing it to be connected at the same time. >_<

Art's Hobbies will print and cut art for you, just need to submit the art to him. It's cheap too, like $5

Sweet thank you

WARNING: Keep in mind that currently Art only prints to the size of his own custom plexi, which has smaller holes than the stock plexi that came with the TE2. If you go with his art print, you'll need to order one of his plexis as well. And with his plexi you'll have to remove all of the buttons in order to change out the artwork and then snap them back into the holes, as opposed to the stock plexi which sits down around the buttons.

I did email him recently asking if he'd ever offer his laser-cut prints to the stock specifications for those of us who want to be able to more easily swap out the art using the stock plexi. He said he was considering it for the future.

GAF I'm considering picking up one of these, is anyone able to confirm if this stick (Which is the PS3 version) will work on PC out of the box?

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=284_951&products_id=28551

Also will this stick work for my PS4 for SFV/Xrd and the other fighting games on PS4.

Ideally I will probably play SFV on PC but I want to have the stick ready incase something comes out on PS4 that I really want to play and can't play on PC (Guilty Gear)

If this stick doesn't fit the bill, is there anything that isn't in the price range of the TE2 (but still good quality) that will work on both PC/PS4 with no modification?

I don't think that GGXrd supports PS3 sticks, though I haven't actually tried personally so someone might correct me.

It should work fine on PC though.

Apparently it should, but some MadCatz PS3 sticks have trouble based on what chipset your motherboard / USB runs off of. You should be okay in most cases though. Make sure you can get a return if not.

Also some devs are using Lab Zero's PS3 drivers for PS4, so games like Skullgirls and MKX and SFIV on PS4 will take PS3 sticks. GGXrd does not, sadly.

As for a PS3 / PS4 / PC stick, the HORI Real Arcade Pro.V4 should work, via PS3 mode on PC.

Anyways, long time lurker first time poster, here's my beloved stick that was built from B15SDM's X1 DIY case:

Martini Racing Livery because I wanted to be classy even if I'm a scrub. It uses a PS360+, but I need to dual mod it with a PS4 pad eventually or get used to using the reset feature on the PS360+ instead.

I also modded a pair of Razer Atrox a year ago for my school's gaming club to use during events and our yearly Extra Life tournaments.

LED mods for the buttons to make up for the turbo functions no longer working with the PS360+, but those have long since died out due to people trying to press them too often.

Anybody have thoughts on the Hayabsua stick coming from Sanwa sticks? What are the commons pros/cons?

A lot of people said they liked it better, but I honestly can't tell a whole lot of difference other than I feel like I'm missing a lot of double-taps for dashes, and quarter circle motions. But as I mentioned a little above, it could be due to me positioning the stick differently on my lap due to Hori's base size difference. Just curious how others have fared.

Just get the venom arcade stick and mod it to your needings. That's what I did. Best way imo.

I used an MKX pad PCB in PS4 mode and cut off the switch. It's a very easy mod, assuming you can solder.

Re: Hayabusa stick - I do really prefer it to the JLF. It feels so much more smooth to me. I wasn't able to fit it in my 360/PS3 custom stick, but now that I'll be using a TE for PS4 I'm going to stick it in there and use the Hayabusa from now on.

$50 new for the pad, but you can probably find a used one for cheaper. The main reason I cut off the switch is because PS4 pads already work fine on PS3 when wired, and arcade sticks are always wired. You can keep the switch if you want, won't hurt anything.

As far as 360 dual modding, my understanding is the pad is a bit more of a pain if you want to add an MS console to it. I didn't feel like dealing with it, so I just am keeping mine PS3/4 only for now.

How much are the pads? Could I retain the PS3 switch somehow? And is it possible to add 360 compatibility for Mahvel purposes?

i remember doing a ps3/360 dual mod back in 08.

for reference, i had a native ps3 board hooked up to a madcatz 360 controller.

shit was such a painful process. i didnt know what i was getting myself into LOL! so much researching; is this controller common ground? nope. fuck. how can i solder the triggers to my ps3 board? oh i have to Frankenstein something together THEN solder it? shit. why doesnt it work in 360 mode? shit, i have to solder the 360 5v line to the ps3 5v line, but if i screw up, i'll burn out my usb ports.

it took about a month of solid trial and error, but i finally got the stick working.

Has anyone had any issues with PS4 TE2 with bubbling and rainbow effect discolouration under the plexi? I bought it very recently and have been in contact with Mad Catz but they're trying to say it's common (therefore I should just deal with it) but I own other Mad Catz sticks which are impeccable compared to this.

Yeah, I actually remember seeing some posts in here complaining about the same thing.

Found one or two things googling around, this thread on SRK mentions it, removing the plexi and re-positioning it might help.

Edit: Just realised from that SRK thread that the quick disconnects now have release tabs, that explains the difficulty I had removing two buttons!

Yeah, that's a common issue. Take off the plexi and wipe the underside of it dry. The rainbow discoloration is moisture trapped between the plexi and the artwork underneath.

I find the Hayabusa works just fine.

Coming from a HRAP EX and TE1, It took me a few hours to get used to the stick in general. (lever and button placement)

I'm not a fan of the Kuros, though. So I switched them for sanwas yesterday. Didn't have enough black buttons, so I cannibalized another stick to go white. It's not bad.

Mark leaving MadCatz wouldn't surprise me, since MadCatz might not even exist next year. They're doing very poorly financially and are basically banking on rock band 4 being a success, going as far as to take loans to finish producing the controllers for it. Seems like a huge risk.

I'd say if you want a Madcatz stick you should probably get one before the end of the year.

This was my thinking as well when reading the MadCatz news and putting 2 and 2 together. Unfortunately, I've set my sights on that TE-S+ and hope MadCatz will be around long enough to make a PS4 variant. They have a PS4 TE2 Chun stick coming out this fall if I don't find anything before then.

Yeah, I swapped out the Kuros for Sanwas last night, and holy cow, it's like night and day. I just was not improving at all with the stock buttons, and after putting them in last night, it was a huge improvement.

ok so, i just bought one of those hori fc4 pads
gonna pull the pcb out of it and swap out my ps3 mad catz te stick's board with the one from the hori pad (it has a ps3/ps4 toggle switch on it already)

...any tips or stuff i should look out for?

I'm going to find a way to get the ps4 pcb + touchpad integrated into the stick if devs don't use the Xrd shortcut with the touchpad.

Gummo posted a pinout of the pad on SRK. Should make your life easier if you weren't already going to use it.

There are also pinouts for the GG pad and MKX pad on that page if people need them.

Can anyone recommend a PS4 fight stick that does not come with the ball top? Are you able to select either type of stick? I have never purchased a stick before and am looking to get one before SFV drops next year.

Also, from your personal experience why is the ball stick the preferred method? I see most EVO players using this type of stick.

ball = japanese style
bat = american style

You can swap the ball for a bat on almost all sticks. The Razer Atrox comes with both

Just finished modifying my Rivals stick to a Egret II tribute with the LED Mod. I will be posting the how-to install video guide soon.
