Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I have it and it's true to it's name that's for sure. If you want really small and portable stick that works, it's pretty decent and does it's job. I've played the SFV beta and GGXrd on it and didn't have much problems besides having to get used to it's "smallness". I'd still recommend a regular sized stick but it's not that bad at all and the reviews on there are pretty spot on imo. Only other small arcade stick coming out is FightStick Alpha.

HORI Fighting Stick Mini 4 on a Mad Catz KI TE2

holy shiet thats small

The PS1 Namco stick is a top tier piece of hardware, one of my favorites of all time. If you're trying to compare it to the Hori Mini, they are two very different sticks. At least the Namco is large enough to accommodate 30mm buttons and has at least a good sized space between the stick and buttons ha.

PS-14-G models have a flat cap and are snap in. PS-14-GN are the screw in version.

Agree. Almost everything about it is perfection, except it's too light. But on a stable surface it's S+ tier. I can see why people hoard them lol. It would be cool if Hori sold those buttons instead of whatever they're doing now but I heard their new ones are tops. It and VSHG are my favorite sticks ever. Never tried an HRAP2 with the Sega/Namco-ish layout though.
Also thanks, will be checking those out, I like them a lot.

Installed the new Brook Universal Fighting Board into my old PS3 SFIV TE1. Install wasnt bad, but I did have to do some soldering. Mainly I spliced the usb harness into a plug and I soldered some lines from the turbo board for power, ground, turbo button (i used this button for the trackpad), and home button. Fits in the case fine. Tried PS4 and XBOX One, and PC so far. No issues on the consoles, but on PC it seems to have some driver issue on Windows 10, Windows 7 works fine. Saw a couple other people complain about the same thing, prob a small issue.

Would you be able to show me how you connected the buttons or give a bit more detail behind that?

Yeah Pizarro, it the type of stick I usually play on the floor. It's the best way to use it so that it remains stable, definitely not a lap stick.

Anybody know if Sanwa RGs will fit in the fighting edge?

I could try myself, but really don't feel like taking it a part. My gut says it'll be tight.

I played on my fighting edge this weekend and realized I don't like any stick as much as it. Went ahead and bought a brook adaptor so I can use it on my ps4. lol.

Best. Stick. Ever.

Regarding the Hrap 4 Kai, can anyone confirm my comment here? I could've sworn when i snapped in a Sanwa 24mm in its place that it was way loose...

Ok, I just confirmed this by taking apart my stick again. For some reason, the Sanwa OBSF24 buttons i have sit loosely in the "option" button location in the hrap 4 kai, as if the metal panel isnt thick enough to support them. Anyone know why that would be?

Had to make a Frankenstein button: Kuro casing and plunger with a sanwa microswitch and silencer lol

Also, to anyone concerned about the HRAP 4's option button
and how, when depressed, it actually sinks low into the button rim, I see this as a very good thing. This makes accidental button presses much less likely to happen. If that was a standard sanwa 24mm button, just an accidental graze and you would fire the "option" button.

Would you be able to show me how you connected the buttons or give a bit more detail behind that?
Sure mostly everything is labeled on the pcbs that are in the stick. You cut those two ribbon cables off the turbo board and run them to the brook this is all the main buttons. The stick unplugs and cut that connector off and run to brook. The turbo and home button on the turbo panel have to be soldered from the back of the turbo board, they are labeled 1 and 2. I also soldered ground and vcc from the turbo board to the brook. If you have a question just let me know.

Is the SFxT stick a TE2 ?

I want to get that converter for PS3 to PS4 that is like 20 bucks online that I've seen people post about here and in FGC GAF, but I want to make sure the SFxT stick is compatible.

Anyone know ?

There are two SFxT sticks, neither one is a TE2. The converter should work just fine with it. It is just a conversion tool so as long as you have a PS3 stick, it will work.

anyone got a shipping date from Amazon US on their TES+ stick yet?

pre ordered mine Dec 3 , really anxious about getting mine day 1

If you can check and PM me or post in here that would be great. I'd really hate if it didn't work for some reason.

I'm still hesitant since the description on the brook converter states MadCatz TE2's and later.

I would have to invest in both the SFxT stick and the converter. It's the cheapest stick I've found with really good parts online from MadCatz.

I'm unsure what my other options would be for a lower priced MadCatz TE product. I basically hate my Hori, and I want to be able to pop my Octo Gate in there without issues, have a great stick, great buttons, etc without modding and spending a ton.

Are there comparable sticks for the PS4 out there? I have the SF5 sticks both preordered, but thinking of canceling since I've got other obligations and can't really jump in just yet. I'd probably be in the market for stick before the hype dies down so curious on what options are out there.

The PS3->PS4 converter only working on TE2 or later would be pointless since TE2s are PS4 native anyway.

EDIT: I see the confusion now. Their site says "Round 2" or later. That basically just means any Madcatz stick after their first run of TEs (which were the Round One).

Ok so, I think I'll gut one of my sticks and put this in it. In addition, I'll need to figure out the best way to do a dual mod using the Brook Universal PCB and the PS360+. Thoughts?

Anyone have experience in adding buttons to the side of arcade sticks? I want to move the start button of my Q4 to either the right or front side. Any tips on cutting out the hole?

First drill a pilot hole then use a hole saw. Measure thrice, cut once. You may have to clean up the edges a bit afterwards.

I'm currently dual modding all of my sticks with the UFB and MC cthulhu using the Imp v2. You can use a imp board v2 as well, but you won't have the auto selection between the UFB and the PS360+. You will have to hold a button when you plug up your stick to a console, depending on which pcb is secondary.

Crud. Is there any other stick that is priced as close to the SFxT stick from MadCatz? I basically don't want to spend more than $120 lol.

For the MC Cthulhu, is there auto selection between that and the Brook pcb? Any diagrams handy?

do you do installs??? I'd like to have the same thing done, but looks complicated.

Sorry no I dont, but its really not that bad. I also think that they are offering to add some extra pins so there isn't any soldering except to get the turbo and home button stuff. I am sure that someone on shoryuken could prob do installs if not.

The Imp board v2 only does auto detection between two pcbs if the MC Cthulhu is the primary pcb.

I mostly follow this picture:

I replace the 360 Madcatz Fightpad with any pcb that I mod with the MC Cthulhu.

As I have been away from the scene for quite some time, can anyone help me catch up with what's going on?

I have a Madcatz X360 fightstick (not the TE one) dual modded for PS3 with an MC Cthulu.

I want to buy a PS4 when SF5 comes out so what are my options to make it work?

Are there any lag-free adapters?
Is this Brook Fighting Board the best solution available for the moment?
Are there any alternatives?
Finally, is it confirmed that PS3 sticks won't work with the final version of SF5, or is this still just an assumption due to the beta?

There's a few options but unless you want to mod replace your PCB it looks like the Brooks adapter is the popular go-to. I don't use it but others can confirm.

MadCatz and Capcom are going to release game and firmware updates to allow PS3/PS4 devices to work in SF5 (on PC) post launch. I don't know what this means for PS3 devices on PS4.

brook is a excellent option check srk - i'd close to lag free(maybe)
the board might closer to lag free
Alternatives i've seen: instal DS4, or mkx controller PCB
there has been no confirmation of ps3 stick support yet .

Cool, thanks both for helping!
I think I will have to wait though as many things can happen in the next few weeks, and I wouldn't like to spend money on any solution that won't be lag-free.

So here's something a bit different: I'm looking for an arcade stick for my Famicom, as I'm finding myself buying a lot of classic arcade titles for it.

I see two ASCII models which are microswitched and very nice, but I also found this doodad:

fcjoy.jpg

Apparently it allows you to use Playstation and Playstation 2 controllers on the Famicom.

In that case, can anyone recommend a PSX/PS2 arcade stick that isn't $Texas?

As someone who's always wanted to try a stick after playing SF on keyboard/pads for years this is perfect.

I'd rather eat the price of something like this and go and buy a full size one if I like playing with a stick overall. Half the cost of a console isn't feasible for something I'm going to use at best for ~500 hours and at worst ~10.

most of the complaints about the hori mini stick seem to be about the weight.

I haven't tried the Hori Mini, but I prefer smaller, lighter sticks. They're more portable and don't take up as much shelf space.

I have the Madcatz Fightstick Alpha pre-ordered. I hope we get some more solid impressions and reviews of it soon. Usually Madcatz stuff is easier to mod than Hori, so I should be able to upgrade the parts. I haven't read any confirmation on that yet though.

There's been the Gummo tweets, sounds/looks simple enough, although I don't think there's been a picture before the mod he did so I'm just going by what he wrote. I just wouldn't expect much in the way of alternative PCBs just cause it looked really cramped for board space in there.

expensive, but sounds like it's your destiny

Anyone know if Focus Attack processes orders on weekends? Ordered a bunch of parts today. Hoping to get them by the end of next week.
