Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

So the wife got me a TE2+ stick as a gift. As someone who usually plays on machines that use HAPP parts, switching over to this whole Sanwa parts and the square gate is really making me struggle.

Has anyone made that switch? I keep telling myself to suck it up but after about 2 weeks I still feel like switching to a octo gate might be better for me.

The games I primarily play are Skullgirls and Revelator. What would be the best stick/gate for these games?

EDIT - By stick I mean the actual joystick part itself and not the entire arcade controller. I use a TE2+ for reference.

Stick with a Hori HRAP of you can't. Best performing stick for its price point at the moment.

It will probably be better for you since you are used to an 8 way already. No use in switching between happ and square gate if you mainly play with happ parts. It's easier to switch to one or the other unless you give it more time to get used to the square gate.

Yup, my very first stick was a Hori. Here is where I broke away from pads forever. I decided on my own that it was time. The game to make me do it wasn't actually SF but Tekken 2.

This is it here, though this isn't my pic

I prefer a hori hayabusa with a 2lb spring but the stock jlf has been the "standard" for years so you should be fine with what it came with.

Try the Seimitsu LS-40 or the LS-56. I love both, though I am leaning towards the LS-56 for its higher stiffness (both will feel tighter than a Sanwa though). Feels great for charge characters especially.

I've been considering trying a Seimitsu stick after finding that I vastly prefer their buttons. What's the difference between the LS-40 and LS-56, and do you know if they fit inside an HRAP case w/o any hassle?

I'm sure this issue has been solved, but I need help and have no idea what to search for.
My issue: I have 2 sticks (RAP4) on a PS4, I have one stick set as player 1. When I try to connect the second stick as player 2, ps4 just moves my profile to the second stick from the first. How do I have both sticks up and running at the same time? I created a second profile. Is there a way to have profile1 be stick1 and profile2 be stick2?

Thanks.

Hold PS button and sign in a different profile.

Yes, both fit with no issue. The LS-56 is slightly stiffer/has more tension (though still less than a Hayabusa with a 2lb spring). I feel is has a shorter throw/engage than the LS-40 as well though looking at charts online, this doesn't seem to be the case. Hmmm. Maybe the LS-56 has a smaller deadzone? Regardless, both are great and super responsive to small movements. Very precise.

The LS-40 has a shorter shaft despite being the bigger stick of the two, so if that bothers you, you would need an SS plate to make it the "right" length--I can't verify if that mounts fine on the HRAP though as I never tried.

Just finished up a BlazBlue themed custom.
The customer supplied the artwork and was cool enough to let me run with the paint and case design. The PCB is a Brook multi-console board with Sanwa parts all around.

Damn nice as always. Been meaning to ask for a while, have you ever done a build log or written up a tutorial on anything related to your sticks? I'm particularly curious about your finishing process cause I don't have much experience there. And I guess how you cut your fancy sides (like that one, or the big rounded sides on others), router/router table?

Just to update on the Drone:

I put the 2lb spring in it and the added tension definitely does help. The stick feels much better but it still is not as reponsive as I want it to be. I am tempted to install a Kowal 1mm actuator to make engage quicker:

In truth, this all feels like throwing money at a used car when a new one can be had pretty damn cheap but its fun to mess around. At some point I will learn how to wire a stick and throw another Seimitsu in there.

Thank for the help my issue gaf. You have to have two accounts logged in, then you can assign each stick to an account. It does not appear to be a permanent assignment.

Is there anywhere to get te2 bezels and side plates now that the mad catz store is gone? Amazon has some very limited stuff, and that's all I could find. No third party companies make these?

Not that I can find. It's a mess. I really want some violet/purple ones but it's probably not gonna happen. I imagine at some point they will get made by someone.

It's ridiculous. It really the only reason I was ok getting the stick I did. I didn't love the color but knew I could change it.

LS-40-01 is a direct drop in for the HRAP Kai, right? After the KoF demo, I'm longing for that old SNK feel. The Hayabusa's throw is just a bit too long for KoF for me.

So like, how do you guys come up with designs? Can't think of anything clever to do for a KI art.

Good, hi-res KI artwork is hard to come by, especially if you're not looking to do a lot of tweaking in Photoshop to get it to look like it belongs on a stick.

That being said, I was happy with this Shadow Jago art that I slapped in my Xrd TE2 recently.

Mad Catz puts stock up in waves on Amazon. You just have to regularly check. I was able to get a bezel and side panels a couple weeks ago. Most seem sold out now. But they tend to come back.

Yeah, it feels impossible. Wish IG would provide high res assets. Part of the problem is that there is almost no decent fan-art, either.

You can also find out if the Kowal 1mm actuator will fit the Hayabusa (I think it would but not sure) if you are just looking to shorten throw.

I thought about that and I think that someone actually makes a larger actuator for the Hayabusa. I am also looking for more tension. I'm thinking that by the time I customize the stock Hayabusa, I might as well go with something tried and true that worked well for me in the past.

-------------------------

Any impressions with the Arcadeshock's Seimitsu LS-38-01-SC? Even better if someone could compare it to the LS-40 for me.

Damn wish I could get my stick all black like that :( Got screwed out of a Xrd TE2 thanks to MadCatz store multiple times.

As I have been out of touch with the FGC for more than some time can anybody tell me what are my options for a PS4 stick?

I have a PS3 stick (Cthulu PCB) by the way.
I wouldn't mind getting a new stick but the prices for something above average are like 200EUR at least and I think that it's way too much considering how much time I have now for such games.

Is there some cheaper alternative that I am missing?
Or maybe some adapter for my PS3 stick which works without any lag or other issues?
If not what's the only thing left to do, getting another PCB?

Finally is the RAP4 Kai any good?

There is a Brook PS3->PS4 adapter, it works great and has no issues. It is also allowed at tournaments.

There are also two Brook PCBs you could use to replace your current PCB. One is PS3/PS4/PC only and one is PS3/360/PS4/X1/PC.

Finally, the HRAP4 is a great stick. I fully recommend it. I do not recommend buying any MadCatz PS4 sticks. They are very hit or miss as far as quality. Not worth the risk.

Thanks for the reply.
- What's the case with Brook adapters and PS4 FW updates - is this still an issue?
- I saw that the HRAP4 Kai comes with a Hayabusha stick and Kuro buttons. Is this good enough? I am used to Sanwa sticks/buttons and I am also perfectly ok with Seimitsu sticks if this helps in any way.
