Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

I need a decent stick without blowing my budget as I just blew a bunch of money upgrading my pc for 4k gaming. I hear the mayflash F300 is decent when modded. Is the modding process terribly hard?

Really love the look of this. Simple, clean and understated.

Thanks. I love the talent that goes into to the art and design of the wood and acrylic cases but I gravitate to simplicity at heart.

nice. How much did the case cost? I picked up a panzer metal case and it's super nice so Im interested in this case as well

Just under $160 plus shipping. The acrylic was an add-on, but I think a necessary one. I have an older version Panzer too; really fond of it. This stick has more parts to it instead of the Panzer's top and bottom folded metal sheets, but I think it looks better and it's easier to work in and organize wires. There's also more customization options. I'm looking to get another for my classic consoles, but I want to find out first if more colors are a potential (I really want a grey like a Sega Saturn).

I would get accidental jumps all the time on LS-32s. That's pretty much the reason I've avoided seimitsu sticks.

Don't let me down, Stick-GAF. :P
Yeah you will get accidental jumps, that's just the nature of the short actuation distance. It's something you gotta get used to.
Can I easily install the LS-40 in my OG TE stick?
It should be pretty easy. Get an LS-40-01, tack on an SS plate, and enjoy.
The LS-56-01 from either FocusAttack or ArcadeShock can be mounted to a TE without an extra plate.
Another reason why I went with an LS-40 is because it can mount to my Mayflash V2 without an extra plate, as opposed to the LS-56.

What country are you from, and what consoles do you plan to use the stick for? If you're going PC only, I'd recommend the Mayflash V2 over the F300 due to its larger size.
All the Mayflash V2 variants are super easy to mod. JLF or LS-40, OBSF-30s, done.

Only thing I may consider changing in the future is switching out for softer microswitches.

nice thanks for the info

Nobody messes with the LS 32 anymore?
Fuck that stick and its neutral slop. I mean it's a step above the JLF, sure. Gate hopping is one thing, but I could never get over the play that the LS-32 has in the center position. The LS-40 truly is a jack of all trades stick, stock. Great for shmups and fighting games. The shorter engage might take some getting used to in Street Fighter, but switch over to anything SNK and you'll realize that those fighters were built around it. KOF short hops and hyper hops on an LS-40? Get the fuck out of here, do it for days.

Haha I just noticed this today playing the KoF 14 demo with my LS-56. Short hops/hyper hops like nothing!! Never been so easy for me.

Its been a while but I am polishing off my Hori VLX 360 modded with MC Cthulhu (circa 2010) and I am trying to use it on Windows 10 right now. I don't if this issue is known and if there is a fix for it, but the movement is going up, left without touching the stick. E.G. Jumping up and right on any PC game I'm playing.

I had verified this issue is not the stick, since it is working fine on the 360 console as of this time. Any recommendations?

Maybe it from the Windows controller settings. Here's what I was recommended to do.

We recommend you to have the product tested in Windows to see if you get the same behavior.
To do this, press the Windows key+R at the same time.
In the window which pops up, please type joy.cpl and press Enter.
Select your device and click Properties, then check if you get the same output in the popped-up window.

I just restored the default settings and it worked fine afterwards.

You have to try with a 40 or 56, they're so tight.
mom joke goes here
There's just no floating with them.

Supposedly Neo Geo cabinets use a few different variations of Seimitsu sticks (some older than the 32!) and from most accounts the LS40 and 56 are closest to what is/was used in them, so it makes sense.

Any teardowns or reviews of the Qanba Carbon yet? Is it identical to the Q1 in construction? I ask because the Drone doesn't have a pin connector on the stick lever and I'm wondering if the Carbon is the same.

I still haven't found a thing, lol. Quoting myself in case anyone has seen otherwise.

Bought the Splitframe Bison bag at EVO. It was made for the Viewlix, but I got the Hori RAP 4. Spent about $126, but I was looking to buy a stick bag for a while and I knew that if I didn't buy one here, I wasn't going to get one for a while.

That's a really cool bag. I bought this Snoopy satchel for my venom at a recent anime convention. Fits perfectly but doesn't have the nice padding on yours.

Edit: For some reason I can't embed the picture but here is a link.

[Posted from another thread] Hope this is the right thread for this question, but I'm new to this sort of thing.

Basically, I can get this fight stick for around $50, but I'm not sure if it works with the PS4. I tried looking it up, but I could only find a few recent things.

If you don't want to click the link it's the Qanba Q4RAF. I'm guessing $50 is a good price for it considering that Amazon price. Thanks in advance for any help.

Someone mentioned something about it only working for games that support legacy controllers, but I'm wondering if MKX, Tekken 7 and KoF14 fall into that category.

Correct, that's a PS3 stick so it'd only work with games that support legacy controllers. That includes MKX, GGXrd Revelator, USF4, Skullgirls, and SFV. There hasn't been an announcement as far as legacy support for KOF14 or T7 yet.

Hmm. Thanks. From the looks of it, it doesn't seem too difficult to customize. I know they announced a HORI stick for KoF14 that works with both PS3 and PS4, but I wonder if that has any bearing on wether or not KoF14 will support legacy controllers. Thanks for the help. I might get it just because the price is so good (it's a little banged up).

If you throw a Brook PCB board in there ($90) you'll get support for PS3/360/PS4/X1/PC. It doesn't require any soldering either so it's pretty easy to install. There are also USB adapters from Brook that will convert PS3 to PS4 for approx $40.

Also any wired PS4 stick will work on PS3 so a KOF stick supporting both doesn't mean much as far as legacy support.

I think they confirmed legacy support at the EVO panel (for kof14).

Can't find official confirmation anywhere.

Oh that'd be nice.

Either way I think it'd be best to get a Brook adapter if you want to play PS4 games on a PS3 stick. Makes life easier and lets you play any game you want for a cheap price.

Have you guys seen the 8BitDo Famicom Wireless Sanwa Fight Stick? It looks premium as hell. I emailed them about it, and they said they are working on a new one.

Any real reccomendations on good wireless fight sticks?

that's a fairly standard shell, you'll see it in different color scheme as venom arcade stick and some other brands. you could probably make this stick yourself.

wireless fightsticks are uncommon because of lag issues real or imagined and they're not allowed at tournaments. if you have your heart set on one you could buy a padhacked version of an official controller for whatever system you intend to play on to install into a joystick.

Isn't that an oxymoron?

I have one of those (as a Venom), only just realised there's a cable compartment on the 8bitdo one. Why?

Exactly. I believe that the LS-40 was semi-standard in Japanese Neo cabs. I'm almost certain that the first run pack in sticks for the AES were LS-56. This makes perfect sense as both sticks are well rounded for different game types that could be present in that hardware.

Guys please reconsider wireless. Bluetooth 5.0 is about to hit the market and it's absolutely incredible. It quadruples range, doubles speed, increases data broadcasting capacity by 800%

I own a wired Madcatz TE Original Street IV Stick , but right now I'm in a situation where the wires in my place are kind of really really messing with my setup, so that's why I kind of need a good wireless kit.

I am not a competitive player, but I love the feel of a stick.

The 8bitdo has a six-foot cable, it's not exclusively wireless.

On paper the 8bitdo FC30 Sanwa is probably not a bad PC fightstick, assuming all the parts are legit. $110 is about as much as it'd cost to get a Mayflash V2 and mod it with Sanwa parts, plus Bluetooth makes for interesting versatility and mobile device compatibility.

I mean no one is stopping you from putting a DS4 into a stick, which is probably the best way to make a wireless stick these days. But it's never going to be a standard for many reasons.

Picked up a Qanba Q1 and threw some Seimitsu PS-14-Gs into it, along with a clear bat top on top of a Hayabusa I picked up at EVO. I love the setup. Along with a Xbone and a PS4 Brooks adapter, I can essentially play all the games that everyone plays. I got a crappy Hori EX2 if I ever want to play Marvel as well. The clearance of the stick is so small, I was scared I may have to resort to a american style button layout, until I looked online and saw that I could unscrew the connection port PCB from the Hayabusa body itself. I was able to squeeze everything in!

Cool! I'm interested in picking up its successor, the Qanba Carbon, but I need to research it more. Doesn't seem to have any reviews online yet.

I can tell you from experience. The one pictured is not premium at all.

Maybe it from the Windows controller settings. Here's what I was recommended to do.

I just restored the default settings and it worked fine afterwards.

So I try that method out. It doesn't let me calibrate the controls (grayed out), but when I clicked on reset to defaults, that seem to work. I tried King of Fighters 02 and Yagatsura(?) which that game had an issue with jumping left, but that issue disappeared.

I tried playing Phantom Breakers, which is a side scrolling beat em up and is still experiencing the jumping left issue. So I'm not too sure what else to go by at this point.

So what you're saying is he did not score one of premium quality?

No idea, then. I noticed the problem on my side when I tried DOA but now it works fine. Try restoring it to default again?

I just ordered some Seimitsu buttons to try in my TE2+.
I've never used Seimitsu buttons before, so dunno yet whether or not I'll like them, but I figure they're worth trying and if I like them, awesome, if I don't, well it's still always good to have spare arcade parts for things.
Also ordered a 2lb spring for my JLF.

They are good. I have a set in a Hori I modded a few years ago.

So it looks like my Madcatz TE2+ is officially busted. I bought it as soon as it came out (March? Whenever street fighter V was released). Do I have any recourse? Is it still under some kind of warranty with Madcatz? Can I get a replacement from Amazon where I bought it?
