Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Ahhhhh I purposely didn't post that one here for a reason, it's a bad example yeah. I should correct it. I tried doing it with her taunt. I'll try with her transformation.

That was actually the thread I originally created them for, then decided to expand upon it for my tumblr!

Well keep doing these, I followed ya on tumblr. :3
even though I stopped going there as much as I used too since its like crack to me

Well it confirms that Little Mac himself isn't the toggle unless Sakurai is a sneaky bugger and hid him off screen. Would be nice if it was just a toggle on the stage selection screen like I asked for ages ago.

Her taunt is a total no go because her entire model just turns pure white during it.

This is the closest I can get!

Little Mac is not fond of sharing.

Oops! Didn't read clearly. He doesn't say either way, so it's possible that the design is randomized. It would be nice to get to choose, though!

It would, but there doesn't seem to be that kind of precedent set in the previous Smash games, and I don't see why there would need to be.

They're literally the same stage.

Assuming it isn't randomized, I hope that the W.V.B.A. ring is the default, and the Smash version of the Punch-Out!! arena is an alternative.

Punch Out stage is my favorite stage yet. I think it's gonna replace Pokemon stadium as my most played stage.

There should be a VGCW toggle as well

As much as I love that punch out/smash stage, it is still bumming me out that it is a walk off stage. Granted there wouldn't have really been a practical way to do a floating stage without it being weird but still, might hold me back from using it as much as I would like

Of course, there are people against him here (like I told IntelliHeath, but he didn't believe) and you are quite clearly one of them, but "most of SmashGAF" seems to be a huge stretch.

Dude, I am one of the biggest supporters of Ridley there are. I've just been completely cut in shape by all the people in here - the way I described SmashGAF's potential reaction is how I perceive it.

It it just me or is brawl more detailed? Smash 4 is much more colorful, but I liked brawls style more so far :/

In brawl the shadows are are incorporated into the textures, making them look more detailed. SSB4 seems to be using more advanced shading technology for approximating shadows. The result is more accurate shadows and an overall cleaner look.

They're basically (if not exactly structurally) the same stage, just aesthetically different. It's better than not knowing if you're getting this

or this

Stage23_080123d-l.jpg

when choosing Mushroomy Kingdom.

I just don't think it's a good idea for the two to share a stage icon, even if the stages are functionally the same. It doesn't make sense since Punch-Out and Smash Bros are separate series, and also, it's functionally a better idea to keep the stages separate.

Mind you, I didn't think the two-stages-in-one Mushroomy Kingdom was a good idea either(I generally avoided that stage altogether regardless). They did attempt to rectify the situation; you can choose which Mushroomy Kingdom stage you play in, depending on what button you hold when you select it. Of course, most people would have to know that beforehand and the only place where the trick is explicitly stated is a "secrets" post on the old Brawl site.

All the selectable stages should be easily accessed on the stage select screen. There shouldn't be any tricks. If they do share an icon, there should be a button indicator when the cursor is on the icon showing how to select which stage(i.e. pressing the Y button switches the icon from the Punch-Out stage to the SSB stage, etc.)

ummm...yeah it is. vastly
Seriously, like half the details on that Brawl Zelda are just 2D-cut outs that only look nice when zoomed out.

While I agree at this point some characters are looking like quickly re-textured Brawl models (mostly Diddy, though the fur from a distance looks nice), the realistic characters like Link/Zelda/Marth look vastly better this time around. I think Snake in particular if he returns is going to be a hell of a difference visually, especially if any of the ultra-detailed mo-cap work they do so much now in his games rubs off onto how he looks in Smash.

I haven't noticed it with Marth, but Link still has tons of details that are just cut outs once you look bellow his head area. Even in that shot, you can see that his sleeves still use that same shortcut.

Do you all think Sakurai and crew will use e3 to annouce multiple new characters again? So untill that point the amount of new dudes from now on, will be a bit less.

Also I wish sakurai went the extra mile and made a DDD ring version

Based on today's screenshots giving us a few more clean shots I decided to try and make a reasonably comprehensive size chart of the cast so far.

I left out any character that doesn't have a clean enough shot to compare though. (Lucario, Diddy, Zelda, Toon Link)

I thought Smash Ridley's scales were a bit darker hue of blue.

I was just thinking the other day... is it really possible that we haven't seen any Kirby transformations so far? Or did I just miss a screenshot where one was shown?

I thought today's images were great since we have full screenshot of two different layout for Punch Out Stage so we have the closures on this stage.
I guess it's nice to know that there's a color and symbol change for the stage but I want something more.
that is something I shouldn't come to expect every day, I know.

We haven't seen a single one. There were mumblings that no one was allowed to play as him at E3. Some speculated he has a super awesome secret yet to be revealed, others more soundly predicted they just didn't want to show off the transformations for the three new comers just yet (no idea why it has to such a big secret)

I predict his new hats are: MegaMan helmet, WFT's hair, horned hat from the older Animal Crossing games, Rosalina's crown and boxing headgear.

Speaking of Kirby's Hats...
Wouldn't be neat if when Kirby copy's Mega Man he gets a Metal Man hat (since all he is copying is Metal Blade).
apologies the for short post, it's just that I haven't seen this suggested yet
EDIT: Found some neat fanart of it.

Thanks, GeneticDestiny!
