Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

They just need to port over this bit:

Since that's the only part people end up fighting on.

It would make the stage better. Therefore it will never happen.

Hyrule Pinball is one of my favorite Smash metagames.

The problem with New Pork isn't so much the size, but that's it made from so many tiny little platforms which makes it hard to actually fight on.
Temple is the opposite in which it's big, but all the platforms are big too which makes it a fun stage.

New Pork is one of the laziest stages, the only interesting bits are the swing and limo, they could've at least put the ferris wheel in it. Otherwise it's just random platforms floating in the air.

I finally played/finished Earthbound!

I wasn't really feeling it at first but now I can tell why people like it so much. I thought getting more Mother content in the next game might not be so bad... But then I remembered that basically everything added between Melee and Brawl was Mother 3 related (except Porkey), so I still wouldn't really be interested. Oh well. Here's hoping we don't get any new stuff.

I thought Temple was a universally loved stage o_O

It is my favorite big stage in all of Smash.

Temple is messy, but good fun. Especially when you've got Red shells, pokeballs and explosives flying around.

It's classic. The bottom island is great though.

Temple is fun, New Pork City was the anti-Temple and it sucked.

temple is great, one of the best stages in all of smash.

Sudden death on temple was so much fun in the bottom cave.

There really is a defense force for ANYTHING on GAF.

The temple is actually one of my favorite stages actually and everyone I met loves the temple stage.

Hyrule Temple strengthens our enemies and weakens our country.

The other big pain about New Pork City was single player and how the CPU would just run away all the time. It was easy enough to hunt them down on Temple so the size was never a problem,

YES. God that stage was such a freaking chore in classic mode on harder difficulties. Would have rather had onett be the stage.

I will say it again.

I would rather have 5 more new stages than 10 classic stages.

inb4 they bring New Pork Shitty back as a classic stage

It'd be ace if they pulled a Mario Kart and looked at the franchise as a whole to grab past stages from. Neither of Brawl's DK offerings appeal to me, for instance, and it's going to be a horrid crime if we get the glorified Stage Builder-conceived mess that was New Pork City before the glorious Fourside.

Temple benefits from a stretched out horizontal plane on two levels. It was a level clearly made for four player battles but it was designed in a way to benefit all characters. Pick anyone and they'll fit right in.

New Pork City is a mess in terms of vertical and horizontal space. Most of the fighting seems restricted to the air as there's not a lot of mobility on the ground due to short distances or odd surface shapes. Any character bad in the former or reliant on the latter is a pointless pick for a stage like that.

It's funny how the stages in Smash are either hated by everybody (e.g. Hanenbow, 75m, Rainbow Cruise), or they're basically static.

I think to this date I'm the only one who enjoys the rising acid/lava Metroid stages.

Hanenbow is too novel of an idea for me to hate, but I do kinda hate playing on it.

What's the consensus on Melee's Brinstar Depths? I've seen it getting a lot of hate, but damn, the whole premise is just inspired, love the creativity in how the layout changes, and everything from the aesthetics to the music is deliciously hardcore. I wish it back.

The problem is that some of them like Mario Bros are just one-trick ponies, you play it once, hit everyone with the OP shells and pretty much get the idea. Hanenbow was kinda just annoying, especially for heavy characters, and it never actually produced anything that sounds like music.

I like the Brawl Metroid lava stage though, racing to the safe zones was pretty fun.

I like rainbow cruise tho the former 2 aren't that fun to play on. Love the metroid stages too.

What's wrong with Rainbow Cruise?

Personally? Nothing. I like it. But everyone I've played Smash with hates moving stages.

I've never seen that stage ever played EVER, unless it was forced (like in Single Player). I do agree that it's an awesome stage though.

I agree, I think my problem with a lot of those stages were just that they were either HUGE so that it took forever to knock someone out, or they had some item or hazard that made the stage really dumb.
I wanted to like WarioWare, and I think the idea of the stage is great, but the rewards being randomly assigned was absolutely stupid (like, one player would get a Starman, one would get nothing - just dumb).

I don't think people hate the lava Metroid stages. I think people hate the fact the only Metroid stages are based only on those locations. There are much more locations than those.

Though each of those lava stages had some interesting mechanics (moving platforms by damaging the stage, spinning stage, shelter). Though Pyrosphere doesn't look like it will have something like that (though it may have a stage hazard). Though even if it doesn't have a stage hazard, it looks to be a good neutral stage.

And Frigate Orpheon had a mechanic that wasn't even in Metroid Prime. There really was no point in having the Parasite in the background if it isn't going to shoot out the green stuff it does in Metroid Prime.

Eww, I'd blocked Hanenbow and 75m from my mind.

The Mario Bros level sucked too.

Hope Smash 4 doesn't have stupid stages like those, such a waste to have stages that no one plays.

The moving DK stage usually moved so fast and had so much BS in it that you can barely concentrate on fighting, lol. Hopefully if they have a moving vertical stage again they can find a way to make it not suck for once.

Hanenbow was so groovalicious it chillaxed the fishes.

btw
Spear Pillar sucks

I rather liked that stage, except for when that damn Cresselia popped up. My favorite effect was the blurry, slow motion one; Stoned Vision, basically.
With Palkia confirmed as a Pokéball tho, I doubt it'll come back.

Which is perfect 'cause I want mah Poké Floats.
