A new WarioWare character is near the top of my list - personally me preference is Mona, but I'd be good with Jimmy T. or Ashley or 9-Volt or whoever. The "herky-jerky" style that Wario has makes him super fun to play as; it's right up my alley, without being too technical but still feeling unique. Hopefully he can get another rep with that same feel.

You know, this is a big reason why I want a Rhythm Heaven character. They can easily be just as quirky and bizarre as Wario is. Wario is a really well designed character, and one that's particularly fun to use, so I'd love to see a character in the same vein. Perhaps a more offensive/aggressive character to contrast Wario's amazing defensive game? Either way, I'm on board.

And hey, a RH character might as well be a second Warioware character in spirit.

The only AT in Brawl that could be "hurt" (really, just knocked around,) was Starfy, right? You could smack Mr. Resetti, but that just made him talk in all caps. I bet Starfy will be damageable again, and a couple other fairly innocuous ones could be, too. As for Isabelle, I think we've actually seen footage of her getting "attacked": she doesn't actually take a hit, she just recoils in shock. IIRC, she stands in the background and chucks stuff onto the battlefield rather than being in the thick of the fighting.

Then Super Smash Bros shouldn't be problem. Mainly because of Pokemon due to the fact that their install base is huger than Smash Bros. I hope that I'm right about size of install base for pokemon.

Well I am a huge MG fan, and you hit the nail on the head. He has a type of purity than many people that choose not to learn about him just simply will never understand. He's one of a kind, truly, in a sea of characters trying to diversify themselves.

That's why him being in Smash made me so fucking happy. Not only was it just a fan's dream come true, but he got a better chance to show off what he really is, a hero, in a more clear way, and to people that don't necessarily know a lot about him. Someone that belongs with Mario, Link, and Samus. He was raised in nearly the same way as Mario was, and continues to move video games forward in a way that only certain Nintendo franchises can rival. His inclusion was like being reunited with a long lost family that was separated at birth, and then fucking celebrating.

Not to mention his incredible moveset and diversity in style to the rest of the cast, it makes me so sad to see how many people just seem to throw all that away and see him as some sort of Sony soldier. Dissapointed, even. I just don't understand it, and I never will.

Also, he's still not cut yet. I obviously have a firm position on how bad I want him included, but I still know there's a good possibilty he can be cut. But he's not yet.

Beautiful post. Also, even if Snake does end up being cut, I still think there's a good possibility he could come back as DLC. From a marketing standpoint, you can't ask for a better hook than playable Snake. And maybe Konami would consider it advantageous to have such DLC out around the time of MGS5, raising goodwill for the franchise in general... much like Snake did for MGS4 in Brawl.

I'm not experiencing much cognitive dissonance with Lucina. Her character tried to emulate his style, after all. I guess it would've been nice if they altered the properties of her body, though (I.E. lighter but faster than Marth, etc).

I get that, really. Which is why it works for so many fans and I'm happy they'll enjoy her to the maximum, but I'd want more differences in a clone than sword spread since for lack a better word and I do hate saying this in terms of Smash, it'll seem like a waste to the roster. I say this as someone who loves clones, even most of Melee's if your name wasn't Pichu.

I don't think the full magnitude of Snake being cut has hit me yet.

I like many of the characters in Smash Bros., but Snake is a character I adore. And I say that as a casual MGS fan at best. Even though MGS isn't my favorite series, I've always loved Snake himself. The working-stiff attitude, the genuine love for his comrades, the paradoxical blend of a tortured soul and a sense of levity.

And like I said before, I always take the pacifist approach in his games. My Snake is a badass who avoids killing, who uses stealth to achieve his goals in a blood-free fashion. Figuring out how to avoid confrontation or outsmart enemies so you can defeat them without killing them made me view Snake as a real hero. It also feels like the truest interpretation of his character, since war isn't the life he would've chosen, it was the life chosen for him.

Having that real hero in Smash was wonderful. That, along with the tone he brought, wholly unique on the roster, and the brand of humor he brought, also one of a kind. Snake will be missed. Here's hoping he returns as DLC.

I've always seen Snake as quite the weird character, sitting in a limbo between realistic and cartoonish. That's why, in my view, there's such a clash of opinions concerning him in Smash Bros. Some people really dislike the idea, seeing him for his realistic qualities and background, and it's contrast with Smash. Others (myself included), like the idea so much because they see he has this cartoonish/humorous qualities that makes him such an interesting fit in the Universe of Smash Bros.

Beautiful post. Also, even if Snake does end up being cut, I still think there's a good possibility he could come back as DLC. From a marketing standpoint, you can't ask for a better hook than playable Snake. And maybe Konami would consider it advantageous to have such DLC out around the time of MGS5, raising goodwill for the franchise in general... much like Snake did for MGS4 in Brawl.

This is true, but we still don't even know for sure if DLC is coming. I personally still don't really see it happening. With Sakurai continuously stating he wanta to make this the number one character game in the world, I have a sense that he wants it to feel "complete" right out of the box, which is kind of a staple of all his games anyway.

And thanks for understanding Snake. He gets a lot of love from video game culture in general, but when talking about him to Nintendo fans (which I very much am one, which makes it all the more sad), I feel like my own family is kicking another misunderstood family member on the ground just because he might have a slightly different way of thinking. It's tiring and it hurts, man.

The few tunes I've heard from ORAS are pretty faithful. Have hope I actually think that a fair number of songs are going to sound a bit better with the introduction of an expanded soundfont (read: more/better brass instruments, and improved sounds in general)

Colosseum has a really neat remix of the Champion theme as well

The OST was the best thing about Colosseum and XD. It's so good.
