To hazard a guess, I think they are the only starting characters from Brawl left that aren't Ike and Lucas, and they're all guaranteed, unlike Ike and Lucas who are more on the bubble than them.

All of them were are have been unlocked from the start in every Smash game they've appeared in, only Ness and C Falcon have gone from being starters to unlockable... but they were locked in Smash 64 so I feel like we won't see either of them before launch. Rest of the vets

Ness/C Falcon - See above
Snake - If he's in he'll be at e3 or not at all, no way he's just a casual update
Falco/Wolf - Both have always been unlockable
Jigglypuff - Has always been unlockable
Mr G&W - Has always been unlockable
Ike - Actually I think he has a good chance of being shown off if he hasn't been cut, I kind of going back and forth on this one
Rob - Will probably be locked if he's back
Ganondorf - Always been unlockable
Lucas - I think he'll be cut, but if he's not I guess he has a decent chance of being shown before launch
Ivysaur/Squirte - All but cut

I also feel like if Ice Climbers, Wario, or Meta Knight is revealed before e3 they'll be playable in the Best Buy demo and the E3 invitational tournament. I can easily see those 3 being playable in said demo

Yeah it's a stretch but it makes sense in my head lol
