Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Wii U version feels like a better Brawl but not Melee.

About to play the 3DS version, feel like the competitive scene needs to step up and ask for basics like dash dancing, the lag on character turn arounds is really awkward.

That's what everyone expected all along, though, isn't it? A middle ground between Melee and Brawl? Seems like dash dancing, wavedashing, l-canceling, etc. are gone from Smash for good.

too lazy to see if this was posted earlier

Was the actual speed ever really a problem though? If there's hit stun and no tripping, does it really matter how fast it moves?

It's more the physics really. Floatier physics leads to less follow-ups being possible and also less ability to chain aerials on the ground quickly (aka SHFFLing in Melee).

BUT I will wait to see the Invitational before making any quick judgments.

Gotta go out and buy Xenoblade C before it jumps up in price (I only have the Europe version). If Shulk is revealed and then we have the new game, I'll really be fucked. I hated that spike on Luigi's Mansion.

Huh, wasn't wavebouncing in brawl? I don't see the big deal.

Yeah it was. It's not really shocking at all when they basically started from Brawl as a basis.

No, not really. You were more or less immediately able to move after being hit, excdept at really high percentages.

Not correct. Doesn't matter what % you're at or how much knockback you take in Brawl, you will always be able to air dodge after 13 frames and attack after 25 frames -- effectively canceling out hitstun in both cases.

It made no sense from a physics standpoint and was something that, going by the Melee -> Brawl transition, I expected to be taken out. I doubt it was put in the game intentionally.

So it still being in is a bit surprising.

From smashboards:
"I hope they pay this translator good money, he's so good going back and forth between the English and Japanese."

LOL, someone doesn't know who Bill Trinen is

I'm surprised how much I like the Mii Fighters. I like how they are implemented and not just Wii Sports.

Also Reggie confirmed on IGN's Steam there's more info to come during the tournament and roundtable discussion.
