I still think Ridley has a chance, maybe as DLC at worst, but these people are setting themselves up for heartbreak.
For some reason I don't think stage characters and ATs will make it as DLC, I would think they were put in those roles in the first place because Sakurai doesn't think they're right for playable, if that makes sense.

Forgive me, but isn't it a bit...dramatic to organize a bunch of people and set up a special hashtag just to ask if a certain character will be in a game that's coming out just three months from now? I mean, we'll find out soon enough, and if Snake isn't in now, it's not like there's time to add him.
I guess if it was big enough he could be in DLC, they're probably not finished with that yet

Probably was already covered days ago but I really liked this analysis on the whole Ridley thing. Dunno how I think about it though. Seems really interesting!

Again, I'm really not a Ridley fan but that post sums up the many reasons I'm inclined to think the purple pterodactyl is in. If Ridley isn't in then ~shrug~. If Ridley is in then... ~shrug~ :P
I guess it'd at least be an interesting addition, though I suspect they'd have to make the wings have no collision as that's where the majority of size issues come from regarding platform heights and whatnot for it.

Random tangeant: How 'big' of a character is Metaknight for Kirby fans? How many people knew about the character before his Brawl inclusion? Having Halberd in as a stage seems to indicate the winged-one's return but I'm curious how many people are interested in the character beyond his broken-tier status in the last entry :3

All the Ridley sleuthing is interesting. It will be fun to see the outcome and look back on everything with the ending in mind.

I think Ridley does have a chance but as DLC. It just seems like the Sal leak is all we're getting for now. That is of course if Sakurai has purposely planted that leak to wow us later on, lol.

Ridley is an awesome character that deserves to be in. Bowser lost his animalistic ways and that style needs to go to Ridley. I suppose Charizard fills that role as well but that don't matter.

For the people who think there will be DLC, do you think it will only characters that come in the dlc packs? Will the characters come with their own stage/music/trophies aswell?

The 3 kirby characters in Brawl are the biggest in the entire series

Meta Knight may actually be the most popular character in the Kirby franchise. He's been either playable or had a major role in every kirby game minus like 2 or 3

We're not trying to kill the beast here. Just bored and eager for some Snake goodness.

It's not like there's anything else to talk about as far as Snake goes. My as well try to drag out some new info.

I guess I'm one of the few people here who would be perfectly OK with Snake being cut. :B
Nope! I'm much more upset about Squirtle and Ivysaur. I think I'd even miss Lucas a little more.

Do you really want to drag out new info when all the info to give is "he's not in the game"?

I don't think the latter happens often in fighting games but I can see it happening for Smash. I think R.O.B. is the only character without a stage, so I'd hazard characters yet to be represented in Smash might get a stage. Music is also a big factor in a lot of Ninty games for a lot of people so I think including characters without some original mixes would be a crime.

That music also falls under the category of 'brawl main theme remix': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yXhIqpZg14

one thing i'm glad of is that it seems like smash 4 isn't reusing the main theme for EVERYTHING in the game. It's reusing old themes, too.

For example the Victory music is the same as smash 64's character select

Edit: Is gaf going ultra slow for anyone else?

I was not a fan of the main theme being used so much in Brawl either. The music in Smash 4 is much more pleasing to the ears and also pretty varied it seems. Also thanks for posting a video with direct audio. I've been searching for that for a while with no luck.

Hell yes! I'd much rather know. It sucks being in limbo.

He's probably back, and even if he's not Kojima still could be under a NDA. So even if we don't get a no, we could possibly get more context. But if we straight up get a no, that would solve everything. Obviously we're not going to get a straight yes at all.

I suppose that's fair. I want to point out that he's probably not back though, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. We have good reason to believe there will be four cuts, and Lucas is likely one of them. Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Snake are the obvious cuts after that. I guess a straight no would be great though!

Even though I'm still sceptical about dlc in SSB4, I do think if there is dlc and it's just the bare minimum just characters then I'll be highly disappointed.

I'd wait until MK8 DLC is revealed before making a better prediction, but if I had to guess right now I'd say they'd probably come with extra stuff. Maybe $5 for a character, and at the very least new trophies and songs (for WiiU)? Like Dixie Kong obviously doesn't need a new stage (but maybe could get some DKC3 songs for the DK stage) but should get trophies of herself for all the game modes (Classic, all star, etc). But someone like Takamaru? An Inkling? Isaac? I'd hope we'd get a new stage to represent that series.

Think what you wanna think. I think he's got a larger chance of returning than not at this point. Along with a lot of other stuff, he's not necessarily the most obvious cut, and the RosalinaX leak isn't even very credible to begin with.

But I do understand it's a possibility. That's why if for some reason he is cut, I'd very much like to know. He's litteraly the only thing I care about at this point along with the expected vets, so knowing his fate will make the wait much easier.

Yeah the smash theme is way less obtrusive this time around. It can be used for way subtler remixes than the brawl theme which stood out like a sore thumb in every remix.

I wasn't talking about the RosalinaX leak. Both of the select screens from the demos strongly suggest 48 spaces (47 plus random). This happens to be all confirmed and leaked characters, along with the entire Brawl roster except for those four cuts. I would assume he was cut because he was included as a special guest in Brawl, and isn't really significant enough to Nintendo to warrant his inclusion again. He's certainly the most obvious cut, even more so than characters like Ivysaur, who's at least a Nintendo character. The only character who I'd say would make more sense to get rid from Brawl is Toon Link, and he's playable. And that's a stretch, because Toon Link is a million times more a Nintendo allstar than Snake.

I have to agree on this one too.

I just can't take that select screen thing seriously, and that's really not about Snake. It is far from conclusive evidence that our roster will be 47 characters to me, especially with DLC characters mentioned as a possibility in the leak.

Might want to open your mind a little more then.

I didn't mean it in a bad way, and I mean I can understand to a certain extent. But I just think he belongs here. He's more similar to Mario and Link to me than it seems like he is to most people.

He's been huge since Revenge of Metaknight, definitely the biggest character in the franchise besides Kirby. I think people like him because of what's under the mask.

Ah, thankies :3
I was genuinely curious because I've never really followed Kirby much outside of the few random Kirby games I've bought and played (oddly they're all the spin-offs like canvas curse or pinball)

As far as DLC and specifically fighting games: No new characters I care about = no buy :P

There are people that are fine with Lucas' cut too. We live in a horrible world.

I'm fine if everyone but Mario and Link are cut and we start from scratch. You can cut all of their movesets, too, and give them all brand new ones. I'm not overly attached to them. I think smash 5 should start from a clean slate. New engine, new movesets, less characters overall. Maybe 12-16 for final roster, all with new movesets. New (if any) items, pokeballs, and assist trophies. Don't reuse anything except for a handful of past stages.

To me, Smash is about constantly building on a legacy, not tearing it apart.

I don't think you read other guy's message carefully. He's a worker of Konami, so he urge us to rely the messages to Kojima. I don't think it's dramatic if he encouraged us. If I'm wrong then my bad.

I think it's hilarious how people are being snarky about "my favorite or main not being cuts" and "snake shouldn't be in the game" are pretty lame and bringing toxic to the thread. If you don't like it then just don't being negative or jerks toward to people who want to support their characters.

Pic of the day. Here's a new mini-game that's quite a bit different from Coin Launcher in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's called Trophy Rush! The details…will be kept secret for now.

I'm sure it's nothing, but was there a discussion about that wrench icon potentially being an Advance Wars series icon?

Or can we rule that out with other evidence already?

To me, Smash is about constantly building on a legacy, not tearing it apart.

You can't keep building forever, or it'll topple over like a giant Jenga tower. At some point something is going to have to change or it'll become unmanageable. That or we just start cutting as many veterans as there are newcomers.

Coin Launcher was awful because you spent so many coins on nothing. Just shooting objects in the hopes of getting three trophies (that weren't even rare), and shooting dozens of missiles because you have to do that or lose more coins!

At least with the slot machine, building up a shitload of coins through playing guaranteed you a new trophy or a good shot at one. Build up hundreds of coins in Brawl, and you spend 15 minutes getting three copies of Midna and Luigi's Mansion.
Thank you for basically summing up my feelings on Coin Launcher so succinctly. On its own, it's a great diversion. As a total replacement of the Lottery Machine as your means of getting a trophy collection worth a damn, it's... eeeeeehhhhh. At least with the Lottery Machine, you could guarantee yourself a trophy by bidding obscene amounts of coins. With Coin Launcher, it's a total crapshoot - even if a trophy that you don't own spawns, if you're not quick on the trigger you're stuck waiting forever for it to spawn again instead of several trophies you have twenty of.

RIDLEY GOT THEM ALL

NOW RIDLEY CAN BECOME META-RIDLEY

I will repost this post for last time. If Snake Fans want to know what's up with his position.

Do it. Seriously, best way to find out is to just spam his Twitter account. He actually reacts way more sensitively to anything he says there than just about any source.

Everyone, please listen to this guy. He work at Konami if I remembered correctly.

Spam your messages and #BringSnakeBackSSB4 to Konami, Kojima, Sakurai and Nintendo.

DO IT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! DOOOOO ITTTT! TORASHIRO SAID SO! :P

Snake seems to get it the worst. Sorry if I come off strong in some of my responses, but I just have to deal with it all the time. I can't even bring up his name without people saying he's cut like it's a fact. It's extra frustrating because I know there are plenty of reasons why he's very likely to stay that people just overlook.

I love Smash and Nintendo, and I love MGS, so Brawl was a beautiful and magical thing to me just because of that. But sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that not only enjoyed that, but respects it and how well it was done. I know everyone can't be as big of a fan of Snake, or Snake being included in Smash, as I am, but seeing so much needless spite at my favorite character all the time just makes me exuasted. The problem is, I can't help myself from fighting for him.

Also, yes do it twitter! I've already done my part. Do we have to stick by #BringSnakeBackSSB4? I used #SnakeSmash for more room. I think it works a little better.

If that happened we could expect either a bad game or a good game...after like 15 years... :(

I think #SnakeSmash would work better. A user earlier posted that. This hashtag is too long.
