Places ROB is popular:

So everywhere, the equator or nowhere.

The variants aren't inherently more powerful, though. They're just different. I bet DK's wind punch is really weak to make up for its big AoE.

Variants seem to be more 'ridiculous' though. Not necessarily Overpowered or strong, but... crazy. Especially ones with humongous range like heavenly light. No other smash move takes up that much area of effect for that long outside of final smashes. It seems like a silly move so I don't see it being a default.

Regardless of what special moves Palutena has, Kirby's stolen special will probably always be the same thing.

We don't know that, yet.

And you're assuming this screenshot is heavenly light? It does look like the same pose! You could be right.

SmashGAF this could be a little off topic but does anyone of you guys know of a way to use my Pro controller on my PC?
I know there are some add ons I can buy but... is there like a driver or something?

You need something that does bluetooth.

If you have that... dunno?

That video seemed to have them jump to conclusions easily, and I know he didn't say it is like that 100%.
But that's specifically the amiibo screen. It almost implies to me that it's a gift that is tied to the amiibo. Maybe a way of transferring equipment/trophies from game to game.
I don't see why it being on the amiibo screen would not make it SpotPass. It can be something else as well, but the most likely scenario is SpotPass
The "hate everything Other M" hate train is worse than the game.

Samus' suit design is the best it has ever been in Smash Bros and Baby Ridley is kind of cute and perfectly fine. Accept it. =|
It's a good thing the "hate everything Other M" hate train is in the minority.

Samus' design in Smash Bros is definitely great, but it isn't in Other M. People can dislike it as much as they want (and not because it is from Other M obviously). People can also dislike "Baby Ridley". Accept it. =p
Seems a bit ridiculous to be a default, IMO.
Not really.

Variants are only ridiculous because you're used to the normal variant of each character's moves. Each of the moves have positives and negatives just like the normal variants.

We don't know that. Though it may require new animations for Kirby, which would would be more work.

Is Rob popular in Japan or any place to avoid being cut?

He's one of the most unique characters. That is all that's needed.
Sakurai works with what will be great gameplay wise instead of playing popularity contests.

Greninja was decided before Pokemon X/Y even came out. It's just coincidence that he's the most popular Pokemon from that gen

There's not much "assuming" required, to be honest. This is what Heavenly Light looks like in the trailer:

BJ8Vqel.png

Right, but we don't know if KIRBY is doing heavenly light. We're guessing that heavenly light is her neutral B, which it probably is, but we could also be wrong.

Not really.

The defaults are what the game is balanced around. Heavenly light seems a bit difficult to balance. That seems like a spam-crazy move in some circumstances and one that is incredibly useless in others (assuming it only damages people on top of you). I could very well be wrong, but i feel like some of her other specials seem more likely to be the default, that's all.

It's still crazy to me how well that worked out. I wonder how people would have reacted if he was unpopular and, say, Delphox was the clear player favorite.

I'm pretty sure Heavenly Light is a default special. There's also no way Explosive Flame isn't a side special.

Agreed. I think Explosive Flame is more likely to be side special.

I'm not sure; she doesn't blink like with her other Smashes in the trailer and her wingspan for it is far smaller too

Do you want her wingspan being bigger which could make it too much? I rematch the trailer, and I noticed that she closed her eyes when she used her wings.

Seems a bit ridiculous to be a default, IMO.

It seem to be very low damage and no knock back so I don't really see how ridiculous it is.

What makes you so sure?

I thought it was going to be:

Neutral B: Heavenly Light
Down B: Reflect
Side B: Explosive Flame
Up B: Teleport

Yeah, I'm petty much agreed with this moveset for being default.

I actually means that I can't stay in front of my laptop during pic time this summer, so I can't refresh. :P

And Yeah, there's three regions on Miiverse, Japan/Americas/Europe and Oceania, you're free to switch between them. Also two Smash Communities and two Sakurai's account.

When are you going to stop doing your "job"?

I personally think he is right about it most likely not being her Up-Smash. The animation looks odd for an Up-Smash.

The game is balanced around everything. They wouldn't put an OP move as a customizable move because it wouldn't be fun when playing with customized moves.

Heavenly Light leaves Palutena vulnerable for an attack. It is just a multi-hit move that racks up damage. It is useful, but one can't spam it and get away with it.

Sakurai explicitly said that custom moves are disabled when playing online w/ anyone BECAUSE of balance. I'm sure they TRY not to make custom moves too overpowered but they can't balance test every possible combination against every other possible combination.

I still think heavenly light is not her default simply based on the fact that the area of effect is huge and no other move in all of smash bros history has an AOE that large without being a final smash.

Once again, I could be wrong, it just doesn't seem to fit the bill for what a 'default move' is in my mind.

Kirby's staff is glowing yellow (which only applies to Heavenly Light and Explosive Flame) and he's holding his arms in the same position as Palutena. The implication is pretty clear.

Thanks!
I'm not an expert so I will try these out.

You need something that does bluetooth.

If you have that... dunno?

Well my computer has a bluetooth device thingy so I guess it could work?

You're probably right. For all we know it is her default and kirby only copies defaults (but it'd be cool if he copied customs too). I still think it's a silly neutral b.

I think the context of that is having customization would make it difficult for using strategies since one wouldn't know what customized moves their opponent would have.

There's a first for everything. We've never had a long range meteor and here we have 2 (3) of them.

We don't know how much damage it does either. I would guess 1-2% at most for each hit. We also don't know whether it can be charged.

*shrug* We'll see in a few months unless he reveals it on miiverse earlier.

Not only is Heavenly Light the special move that best represents Palutena as the Goddess of Light, but I don't think it's a coincidence that it's also the first special move shown. Heavenly light is definitely her default neutral special.

I still say these are Palutena’s default specials:

Standard - Heavenly Light
Side - Explosive Flame
Up - Jump Glide or Warp (I’m not certain)
Down - Reflect Barrier

Those are the ones that jump out to me as best suiting her character.

Uh, likely tomorrow.

All of Palutena's moves looks overpowered to me, and she has the same FS with Megaman, just without animation.

Damn. I'm curious who would race to take your position. :P

Thanks for all updates that you have done for us, and good luck with whatever you are doing.

Only one week to be proven wrong.

No doubt.

Also, I just noticed that Heavenly Light has to be channeled. 100% balanced so long as she can cancel it whenever she wants.

Quoting in case it gets yanked by the GF mods:

A guy I know who works for the marketing department of Nintendo has given me a little bit of info about the game as a result of promotional materials he has seen, and while I can't completely confirm or deny the Sal Roman leak with what he has, he said that Shulk is definitely in and Lucas is definitely out, which lines up with Sal's info. Additionally, Mewtwo is playable and King K. Rool is a boss on a new DK stage based off of the Gangplank Galleon stage. As for credibility, obviously I have none, so he said to say that Falco is supposed to be revealed this week. So, that basically gives him a very small window of opportunity to be proven fake.

I think it'd be kinda stupid if Kirby copied custom Bs. If Kirby swallowed a customized Kirby, would Kirby get a Kirby Hat with the new neutral B?

It's probably heavenly light.

I really hope jump glide is her default over warp, I agree with everyone else that heavenly light/ explosive flame/ reflect barrier are probably her other default specials though. It'll probably be warp but I really want it to be jump glide

I think he's the most interesting. Can you imagine this is smash??

Yeah, he'd be sick! I do wish his normal colors were actually his shiny's:
shiny_chesnaught_global_link_art_by_trainerparshen-d6v3wqq.png

Though, in the context of Smash, a costume would easily fix that. Actually, Bowser's new green color scheme looks a lot like Shiny Chestnaut.
