I just this mod for Ganondorf in PM, and wow it looks really neat. I totally wouldn't mind playing him if he had this in Smash 4 (or at least the Sword or Magic movesets as standalone)

Would it be too much to ask for a style/weapon change character for Smash 4? Maybe Chrom or Shulk?

Wouldn't that be basically a transformation without a model change? I'm not sure it can be done considering how there are going to be no transformations this time.

Which version of Simon do people even want?

personally I'd like some take on his old conan the barbaric vampire hunter look, but only because his modern design is butt

Is it bad that I want Lucas and New Pork City to return not because I like playing with him or that stage much but simply because I love MOTHER 3 and like it being referenced?

Kumatora assist trophy pls Sakurai ;_;

I don't get the appeal of Simon Belmont.
I love Metal Gear and all, but that series really has fuck all to do with Nintendo.

Simon is one of the most relevant third parties you can possibly get. He's pretty much on the same tier as Mega Man and Banjo Kazooie. He was one of the main characters of Captain N, sharing that privilege only with Pit and Mega Man (both of whom are already in). Castlevania was one of the big names of the NES era (similar to Mega Man), and the series has also has had a long history on Nintendo handhelds (again, a lot like Mega Man).

Besides, even if the character himself isn't as cool (because we all know that Richter is the best Belmont), the possibility of getting Castlevania stages/music/assist trophies in Smash far outweighs anything Metal Gear has to offer.

Same deal as Mega Man, of course.
But... Mega Man has always had the same design. From Mega Man 1 to Mega Man 10. And that's the way he looks in Smash.

It would be more accurate to say "Same deal as Pac-Man" because, like Simon, he actually has a few modern designs that differ from his classic design.

They still could have gone with any of the other MMs in the final smash.

Posted without comment.

It's pretty clear that NoA is doing an amazing job getting behind the competitive Smash scene. Sakurai, OTOH, sees appeasing competitive players and the general audience as mutually exclusive. How will NoA relay the competitive community's few modest requests (ex. reduced landing lag) to Sakurai?

This is coming from my personal point of view, not Nintendo's.

This is a *brand new* Smash Bros. game. We all have to retrain ourselves to play with the new one. I am completely happy with Sakurai-san and his group making the game they want to make, and not the game I think it should be. No Johns! =)

I was about to post that. JC is one of the major proponents of the competitive players within the Treehouse. If he's "completely happy" with Sakurai making the game as he wants, I wonder if these requests will ever reach the man himself.

I always assumed there would've been a push from NoA to get Sakurai to budge a little, but I'm not so sure anymore.

That's why I asked. :p

I feel this is what Sakurai and his team set out to do with every Smash.

Nice answer.

Even if he doesn't apply most of the feedback, it would be nice to know if most of it actually gets to him. Not just, "we want the game to be more competitive!" but all the little things in between.

Agreed. Saying "more competitive" is meaningless. I think there are a few criticisms that could make it to him (reduced landing lag, dash cancelling/dancing, etc.) that are specific enough to be implemented.

I know it was NoA staff taking notes on feedback at E3, so I would've assumed JC would know/be involved in how those notes make it up the chain of command. Hopefully, those notes are at least considered, and good on JC for at least answering (well, more like "responding" since he didn't answer the question. :p)

Not exactly.

All 3 of those look the same to me, aside from proportional differences. Even then, the model that Mega Man has in Smash 4 is unique to Smash 4. It doesn't quite match his promotional art, nor does it match his in-game sprites. It takes his design from the promo art and changes the proportions slightly to fit his in-game sprites. He's basically MM 7 & 8 Mega Man with animations from the rest of the games.

Anyway, my point was that Sakurai didn't design Mega Man to look like he "originally" did as you were suggesting, only because how he originally looked is the same as how he looks now ("now" being his most recent game).

I hope this post isn't confusing, it's hard to explain what I mean.

Mega Man in Smash was based directly on his NES sprite.

Therefore, I posted a picture of Simon Belmont's NES sprite.
