NCSX has a release date for Smash 4 3DS: September 13.
This was announced at E3, unless I'm missing something significant about this information.

An accurate Ridley fight, if you're going for Super Metroid Ridley, would have him constantly moving around the screen swinging around that big tail hitbox, shooting fireballs, and occasionally grabbing the foe in his claws.
Metroid Prime's Ridley fight is closer to traditional Smash bosses, but he has cool shit like lasers and that charge into a tail swing.

And the combination of the two in Prime 3, where he fires a laser from his tail and flames from his mouth while spinning.
...Also, why is it that so few people seem to consider the idea of a quadrupedal Ridley, even on the ground? It looked very natural in Prime, and even was incorporated into his brief landing poses in the Brawl boss fights.

I was there last year. Justin's UMvC3 match against Chris G was one of the coolest things to see live ever. So much hype it was unreal.

Yeah but imagine how hard a fight like that would be to balance in Smash. You could only get a few hits on him at a time if he's moving like Super Metroid, but you still have to give him a ton of health because certain character's moves do a lot more damage and hit a lot more than others. Plus there's the huge difference in health systems bewteen the series.
It's be cool of it could be figured out sometime, but I'm not surprised why Sakurai probably didn't design the fight like that.

Whoever you tap gets a little box around them, the red outline is for teams, I believe.
