WOW.

Dark Samus is Brawl Lyn, Little Mac, Saki, & Isaac tier aka "why aren't you playable" tier.
...save us, Project M?

Villager - the new Falco?

Easily the most exciting match I've seen. I thought the slingshot was only on Bair. Too bad it's also on Fair, because a Bair-only projectile would have upped the goofiness of Villager.
Still kinda feel like people are living too long in this game. Ah well.

Miis are boring because they're not memorable Nintendo characters in any way, I hate seeing them in mario kart as well but the differences between characters are so minute that I don't really have to care about them, in this game they're so versatile that you might well end up seeing them used a lot and that would just make smash tournaments far less interesting to watch for me, I'm actually hoping that they're not possible to use in competitive play due to time constraints or something, if that happened then I wouldn't actually be bothered about their inclusion at all.

Rosalina is implemented well and if there are more characters she's the highest up in terms of me liking their inclusion but I just don't like her design.

Palutena annoys me because it's what Sakurai does every game where he treats some character from games he's made better than everyone else by giving her 12 unique specials and her (presumably beta) model looks rubbish, especially in the face area.

And I fucking loved Kid Icarus like most other people but Palutena wasn't one of the reasons why so I wasn't one of those people clamoring for her inclusion pre-announcement.

I just don't like how they're going more in a newer direction with characters, little mac, pacman and megaman are fucking awesome inclusions but the newer inclusions feel more hit and miss to me just because I can't shake the fact that there are far more retro characters I'd want included before them, and when it happens to be an especially boring newer character then it's just disappointing.

Greninja, WFT, Villager and the Choir Boys are my idea of newcomers that are actually good from relatively recent games.

Also I'm a major fan of having more villain characters in smash so a roster with no newcomer villains whatsoever is awful imo.

You could not be wrong in that opening statement. Especially when Wii Sports is now one of the most popular Nintendo games period, they are also associated with the most successful Nintendo home console evah! The Mii's look very fun, and will allow people to do some fun things with the game. I do no not think they will be viable competitively due to them not having a base set of moves. However, Palutena is sort of the same way so we'll see... I guess?

I do not think Sakurai shows bias, and we do not have sufficient evidence of that. Meta Knight honestly looked like a mistake, and he will more than likely be nerfed in someway. Palutena having 12 unique moves is some nice trolling by him though.

Smash 101, not everyone you want to make it will make it into the game.

Lack of villains does indeed suck, we can all agree that the game needs more of them.

What?

What is the uniqueness of this character? One of the most unique characters you've made in Smash so far.

What does this character bring into the Smash Bros. universe? An entire series.

What do they have that other characters don't? Mortar launchers, RPGs, cardboard boxes, stealth actions, raw humanity, codecs, ect.

How do they complement or contrast other characters? One of, if not the most stand out characters on Brawl's roster. Some people say because he is a contrast, some say because he is a complimentary, some because of both.

The bold is Sakurai, being interviewed about cutting characters. I'm tellin ya, he's just under that box....waiting.

I'd say the Villager or Ice Climbers are way more unique than Snake. You let your feelings cloud your judgment!

Except whenever they replace something that was a single colour with some form of pattern or what have you it always ends up looking tacky as fuck and you can't help but not be reminded of those shitty brawl mods where the modder doesn't have the skill to actually create the model and basically tries to paste a different design onto an existing model.

Nothing makes you happy. Sigh. I don't even know why you're here if everything about the new smash upsets or disappoints you :( Cheer up! It'll be fun, even if it's not exactly what you want it to be. Make the most of it.

I've almost given up on Snake at this point. And that's coming from someone who rocked a Snake avatar for most of my neogaf history and mained Snake in Brawl.

I would love more than anyone to have him back, but I don't know if I see it happening. It's more of an issue with Konami at this point in time, than anything else.

Eh, I dunno. My comment on Dark Samus is more admiration at how fluid the character is than a real "give it to me please" exclamation.

At the same time, I never understood the ATs that were like that ever since Brawl. They always look freaking incredible and tease you like "hey you could have been doing this [does move] in another situation, but too bad' at times. :lol

I'm here because I like smash and I've got nothing else to talk about, very minor updates about alt costumes and people making murrika jokes for 3 pages is a boring thread if you ask me, you have to have atleast a few people to stop the thread from being a hugbox.

And not everything about the new smash upsets me, just the way they're going about balancing the game when there's potential for this to be the best smash game yet.

It's disappointing that every time I hear a new addition that I love, there's 2 more things that set the game back, and it's even more worrying because I remember what Brawl looked like pre-release and have to be worried about everything that looks good being lessened or removed in the final release.

It's hard being even somewhat interested in competitive smash and thinking you're going to have to stick with melee and project m for another god knows how many years.

Hah that's some stretching there for sure!

Their fighting styles are based off of the same central Idea (Items pulled from their ass) and several of their specials are very similar. (Parachute and Balloons, Bucket and Item Grab)

On a visual level they're quite different, and it ends up achieving a different feel in large part from that, but the concept that drives them is ultimately the same.

It wouldn't be a Smash thread without ceaseless pessimism and chit chat that belongs in an IRC.

I think it's far more about Kojima
/Sakurai than Nintendo/Konami myself. The rules haven't changed much, if at all since Brawl.

The sexiest thing about Dark Samus is that Shrapnel Beam.

I always thought that was the coolest thing about her from the first time you fought her in MP2. Something about her just casually lighting up the area with a scatter shot beam was so different.
