Well there is that DLC rumor with Dixie and Bandana Dee.

Regardless of that rumor, I think they're perfect candidates for DLC...popular enough to include, but also not popular enough to use as a big draw for a potential Smash 5.

I personally feel like the only bankable DLC character is Mewtwo. DLC characters have to, theoretically, be universally popular and appealing to warrant people paying money for the individual fighter. They have to be really serious heavy hitters because, if the roster has 50 characters for example, it costs barely more than a dollar for each fighter.

But the development time and effort, as we know from Sakurai's conversation on the matter, for a single new character is multiplicative, not additive. It's the single most time consuming and complicated addition to the game. For that character to be included post-release it would have to cost money, and if it's a fighter they want most people to want to buy it's not going to be Lucas or Waddle Dee or Squirtle and Ivysaur.

It's going to be a real headliner that even the most casual Smash fan will think "Damn, I want that."

That's how I feel about it, anyway. Which is why Mewtwo feels like the most organic DLC character. If only because he's a Pokémon mascot, let alone his veteran history and popular vote for fighter. Pokémon is a safe bet, you know?

That's how I feel too. The DLC character could be literally anything and I would buy it. I want the complete experience and I am a serious Smash Bros fan. They already have my money. There is no DLC they could release that I wouldn't buy immediately.

But in this case I am the dream customer. If Nintendo had twenty million of me the Wii U would have been a runaway success from day one. Nintendo is selling to a crowd that didn't trust them enough to buy Wii Us at launch. And as much as we get used to Smash communities, the several hundred people we spend our time talking to every day are not the most even representation of the seven million people who will buy this game.

That's why I really think the DLC fighter needs to be mass-marketable. It won't be some lower-tier character from an established series. It would need to be a huge addition to the existing game content that millions of people have to have. So I think Mewtwo. Or maybe Snake.

As much as I hate to say it, yeah, we are. I bought all the non-minion PSASBR DLC for crying out loud, generic Spartan costume for Kratos included (You have to admit, though, Prom Night Parappa's worth it).

They didn't show any footage to the public, but select members of the press got to play an early version. Here's a thread I made compiling everything we currently know about Star Fox for WiiU. They've revealed quite a bit for a title we haven't seen yet.

This really interests me too, because when Melee came out the most recent Star Fox game was Star Fox 64.

Then for Brawl we had had Adventures, Assault, and Command. But representation of those games was really thin.

Now the most recent Star Fox game is 64 again.

Star Fox stage: for 3DS, I would have wanted the Forever Train, but I guess Spirit Tracks has that covered. Maybe there could be a Sector X stage where you're hopping around on space junk, or, for a simpler stage, Bolse with Star Wolf hazards.
