So you think it's likely that Sakurai finished up work for the day and somehow thought that he'd already made his big character announcement and posted this?

You can say, 'maybe he does something that he's literally never done before' then I can say, sure, okay, you can do that, but don't pretend that it's a position of equal validity given the existing status quo.

I my headcanon (you can stop laughing now), Mach Rider takes place before F-Zero, and a gorillion years later, he descendant named Megan would later lead the Hot Violet to victory at the finish line.

Her outfit even seems like a feminine re-imaging of the Mach Rider suit.

...I never noticed the similarity. So that makes alternate versions of Mach Rider, Mario and James McCloud - if F-Zero didn't die, I would have liked to see its take on Samus, Olimar, Metal Face or Ridley.

Look at the John Harker posts. Ubisoft came forward with the proposition to put Rayman in Smash first. I seriously doubt that they'd be willing to be difficult or non-forthcoming in getting represented in the biggest mascot fighter in games. :lol

Exactly! With DLC inevitably coming, you know this trophy will push people further into requesting him.

The evidence does seem to lean more heavily on them being male, but I'd still like to hope for the possibility of another female protagonist - the laterality could be a similar deal to Snake's use of a gun and knife in each hand, the bodily proportions could be fudged by the art style, and the trophy description could be a case like Samus in the NES manual and Smash 64 trophy description. But it'd be fine with them being male as well; any focus for the character/series would be welcome at this point.

That would definitely be the best-case scenario. Fully realised Barbarella and Mad Max pastiches in a lovingly-crafted sci-fi cheesefest. Too bad Nintendo's stockpile of unused IPs only grows by the year.

Never says it's just for a trophy. Plus, there's multiple editions of the character's trophies, some of which don't share the same render as the playable one.

I'm somewhat surprised we haven't gotten any Ubisoft PR comments yet.

Honestly, no I don't. I don't find it fitting. I only picked Sonic once to see how he plays and never again. I reckon I do the same with Megaman and Pacman.

So, it's been an hour or whatever, and I still don't think my brain can process the revelations, I just can't DEAL with this... Mondays are supposed to be a quiet filler day that eases you into the week, not a double-bombshell!

I somehow managed to miss the trailer announcement when I checked Friday's update, entirely avoiding an entire weekend of hypeness. It feels like a real one-two whack of Rayman and Impending Shulk, T-Minus Six Hours. Boy, this is when the occasional slog of logging on to check for a picture every single weekday really pays off.

And yet... Rayman and third-party trophies are still things that were discussed, however briefly, in the past. Whereas 'MURICA MARIO was never mentioned at all - what I'm trying to get at is that if your standards are so high as to be bored or upset by the last few weeks, then I don't even want to know.

For so long, I never really dared to dream that a Xenoblade rep might make it into Smash Bros., and now it seems that the reveal is just hours away... The trailer is going to be bangin'! This is the true power of the Monado and all that.

So much stuff happened when I slept! Rayman is a trophy, and another french guy won something at EVO 2014. (it's the FR national fest here today). I was saying it as a joke a couple days ago, but just for the posterity and since after Rayman trophy anything can happen:
I think Sakurai is gonna make Glass Joe playable and announce it today on the SSB site
